My V6 had the cam belt changed at the 75k service when the car had only done 28k and was 8 years old, it was changed because the previous owner took it to the main dealer every years for a full service regardless of the mileage.
The car is only at 54k now BUT it's 8 years since the cam belt was changed.
So what to do?
Any ideas chaps

Re: V6 cam belt
I think the recommended belt change interval for those engines is 10 years, so you don't need to panic yet, and I have just changed a 19 year old (44,000 mile) belt on a Xantia V6, and the one that came off was still looking like new.
I would however think about getting it changed before it reaches its 10th birthday.

Thanks for that - you know how it is - you/I get a bit paranoid about these things.
As for the video, it wouldn't have meant anything in any language to me!

Re: V6 cam belt
I replaced the belt, including rollers and water pump, at approx 37,000 km and when the car - XM - was 7 years old. The belt still looked pristine. I am told the belt on this engine is very sturdy. I am happy I did the job though as it gave me piece of mind
