After a dilemma I think I have decided to buy an ECU kit for my Picasso 2.0 HDI on a 2004 reg.
Can I assume that if I do the following it should be OK
Get kit, ECU / BSI / Ignition barrel and keys
______
2, unplug old ECU and plug new one in.
3, Unplug and plug new BSI in
4, replace ignition barrel.
5 turn on ignition and start car
Is that about it ????
Oh and the BSI Is located next to fuse box so I will have to remove the fascia under steering column.
Is that it or is it more tecky than what I am thinking please
____________
Alternatively ....can someone tell me how to virginise this BSI that is in car.
Thanks

If you are going to go down the replacement route - it is always a good idea to get a printout of your current vehicle's BSI configuration parameters and also of the other main components listed (not sure if you got yourself a Lexia as yet). You will also have to use the Lexia to assign the new VIN to your existing Head Unit (radio unit) as this will be coded to the old BSI and will give you problems.
The printout of all the settings will allow you to go back in and make sure all the parameters match those of your original vehicle. There may be differences / other options from the donor vehicle not on your car or vice versa. If going ahead I would also close all the doors, turn everything off and allow a good 5 minutes for the car's ECUs to go into sleep mode before disconnecting the battery to start the change over. Once you have swapped everything over, follow the BSI reset procedure before trying to start the car to allow everything to initialise.
Then stand back and

Do you know the milage stored in the 'new' BSI ? Are you aware that if the milage is higher it will write the higher milage to your instrument panel ?
Re: Fitting ECU / BSI Kit...HELP
There is no need to change the ignition lock and key, you just need the immo chip(s) from the donor car's key(s). ECU+BSI+chip and as GiveMeABreak said the reconfiguration of your BSI settings.
If you get only one chip bur want to use multiple old krys, you can hide the chip somewhere near the chip reader around the ignition lock. But then of course you basically disable your immobilizer...

Re: Fitting ECU / BSI Kit...HELP
Thanks Lads great.
wheeler: No Idea of history for the BSI in place but I know it will show higher or rather the mileage that comes with ECU kit, I am not fussed about that.
teuski: I have done that before on a belingo and cable tied the transponder to the ignition and used cheap cut keys with no problem
I will look into this in more detail tomorrow when I have more time, I just thaught it would be easy to get an ECU kit and change the bits so all worked as it should.

Still there is no need to change the barrel and keys, the chip can be extracted from the key fairly easily.
AFAIK know the mileage is stored at least in the instrument panel, BSI and maybe ECU and which ever is the highest will overwrite the others too.

The milage is not stored in the injection ECU, its just the BSI & instrument panel on this carteuski wrote: AFAIK know the mileage is stored at least in the instrument panel, BSI and maybe ECU and which ever is the highest will overwrite the others too.

Re: Fitting ECU / BSI Kit...HELP
Quick update...The car has apparently already had a ECU kit change,
I ran lexia on it and it came back with a different vin number that is stored in the ECU
So I took a not of it and contacted Citroen again ( They will be sick of me )
They gave me the transponder code for the vin I have scanned in lexia, so now hopefully I can get keys done.
What a P*ss on this has been
Having said that the car drives mint and I really like it.
Lucky I stumbled on the vin number in Lexia or I would of been stuck.
