You can't upload a picture here, but you can link to it. You'll need an image hosting site like photobucket or similar - create an account (there are free ones with a fair bit of space) and then upload to there, click the image, then click the format you want and it will create a url to the image, then you can paste the URL here and it will display your work of art!

theres usually a damper there, that doesn't look original, almost like someones bodged it? The usual job is to remove them as they only act to slow the return of the throttle plate (if thats what its called?)

similar to this (same bosch pump ignore the VW badges!)

Couldn't believe I was actually seeing a shock absorber on your pick - those VWs must have a really bad vibration issue then! :-D But as you can see from the service docs for the 1.9D Synergie, there isn't any sign of a damper shown anywhere - I also looked at all the other parts diagrams, but nothing to indicate one of these IIRC.

My 806 and the Ulysse did have one at some time or another, but longs since gone, just the ball now where they used to fit. I'm pretty sure my spare engine that came out of a Ulysse stil has one fitted.

I'd guess that the original return spring (coiled under the lever) has failed and the one in question has been added as a substitute.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

The thing is, it isn't a return. many cars have them removed! it simply damps the decelleration
