Citroën xsara Picasso issues. .

Post by Maak »

Hi there! I'm new here with a massive problem. My 2002 citroen xsara Picasso broke down. It's the 2.0 hdi. Had a immobiliser issue which was sorted, then few months later my son left the lights on drained the battery, someone jump-started it but put both leads on the+..idiot. .gf said it was sparking like hell. It did started and seemed to be alright, no issues except it was resetting the time and date every 3-4 days. .few weeks later it didn't start at all so called someone who connected his laptop, said the engine doesn't get any signal from ECU. He said it might be the ecu or a short somewhere and he could fix it then never answered his phone again[emoji35] . Now can't find anyone who could sort it out so thought will ask around here. .any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome Maak.

There is a possibility tht a BSI reset might do the trick, bit of a long shot admittedly but easy and free.

Follow the procedure here.

Be sure the battery is fully charged as low voltage seems to cause myriad problems.
Having the battery under the front seat may necessitate a bit of a workaround.

Thank you very much. Will try that tomorrow. Did take the leads off for an hour or so but wouldn't start. .

If you allow for the fact there are a lot of electronics in the modern cars, running a proper shutdown routine can allow it to flush out any glitches. If there is a real problem this almost certainly will not be cleared.

Think of it as shutting down a PC properly. This will allow it to start up from fresh next time you turn it on.
