Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

asking on behalf of a friend who has an alfa romeo....has airbag light on,mot is due,been on for a couple of years he says,but he has been told the regs have changed and it will now fail the mot for the air bag light being on.....does anybody have anything definite on that? looked on google,seems to be correct but can't seem to find anything...

Well I have been searching for this information quite a long time and I didn't find anything about the ride height for Activa MK2 year 1998. I found for MK1 year 1996 and I am not sure if the measurements are the same. Or maybe it's the same setting as for MK2 HA?

Hi . Could anyone give me the part numbers for the front corner spheres on my s1 v6 .I have just got two from euro part.
I think they have given me accumulators 620545650. On my old sphere the number is 96238949 .I need to know the euro part number.

Just nipping down to GSF to get this job out of the way.

Gave them my reg and he gave me part number 453PC001 but I cannot find it on their website.

With my reg, it brings up 453CP0011 but states Activa? which it certainly isn't.

Anyone on the forum know which one I should be having or the pressure and volume please?

Hi all,
I'm beginning to suspect the crank pulley is the cause of alternator drive gear squeaking at idle, which vanishes above 1100 revs.
Other symptoms include a twisting and thrashing aux drive belt on the run between AC and crank pulley.

Would a defective crank pulley cause very noticeable uneven engine vibration when sitting in the cabin,...

Is it OK to charge a car battery in-situ with all the +/- cables still attached to the car or will only bad things happen and it should only be done either disconnected from the car or preferably on the workbench ? I'm thinking specifically of my C5 X7 here - with the ignition off...... obviously ! :)

If your thinking of a charger then dont bother with others, just go straight for a CTEK.

I can not rate them highly enough even bringing some batteries that looked and tested as dead back to life after a few reconditions.

I have an MXS 5 that sits in the back of my range rover charging it all the time until i get it running again, and even then...

Just looking at Parkers..

The 2.0i 16V VTR can do 0-60Mph in 8.8 seconds.

Yet the 3.0 V6 Exclusive is only .5 of a second quicker.

I know they are big heavy cars, but the 3.0 V6 just seems so slow on paper. The Ford Mondeo which is the same class is 7.6 seconds 0-60 which seems closer to what i...

Only the 2.7 is laggy, the 3.0 isnt as bad and is more akin to lazy petrol engines :)

The M3 also likely has a DSG/SMG gearbox. these shift a hell of a lot quicker as they are automatically thinking ahead and will have the next gear ready to go. Quite fancy tech that does away with a manual clutch.

Also take into account the torque of each...

Hi all!

My c5 suspension stop rising last Friday.

I checked the fuses and voltage in the pump motor and they were all ok.

So, I empty the lds reservoir and removed my pump to check it.

I found 2 issues:

I have traced my steering problem (ie no power assistance!) to a leak on the hydraulic return pipe from the steering rack where it runs in a cranked tube bolted to the side of the sub-frame. Well, have now fitted the replacement pipe and refilled with LDS (over 3 litres!) and, so far, all well and working.

Did have a couple of oh my god, now what? moments with the suspension as it seemed to be stuck on low and the pump was just running but after a couple of minutes it started to rise. Must have just been re-priming and pressurizing...

Hi guys,

Front suspension on my s1 xantia is sitting quite low & is therefore quite bouncy.

New front spheres & has been sitting fine since I've fitted the new spheres, only happened recently.

Would air in the system cause this?

PS car goes into service (high) mode fine, it just sits lower than normal in driving mode. ( if that makes sense)...

Old Guy used to have one on his site as did GSF, but they both seem to have disappeared.

What would be the minimum/maximum labour charge for the work below:

Remove alternator and refit (bearings replaced from Auto electricians)
Fit new alternator belt
Fit new pulley tensioner
Fit new ABS reluctor rings front offside and nearside
Diagnostics for side airbags, unclip clean and lube up connections under passenger and drivers seat....

Millage now 91K, hand book says 150 K or 10 Years( a bit too long for me thinks), Heynes book says 150 K or halve this if start / stop use. Citroen Garage says should be done soon. My thinking is agree with Citroen Garage. Would be interested in knowing what other members opinions are or if any other 1.6Hdi 90 HP users have had their cam belts...

Just got round to investigating where the sickening hiss came from, and saw plenty of green blood flowing down the back of the subframe. That is the vertical face of the subframe nearest the front of the car, on the drivers side.

Just about impossible to see which pipe and where the leak was coming from, even with the assistance of a mirror, but...

Hi all looking for some help with my c5 2.2 hdi estate auto, been having usual partical filter errors and going into limp mode for a few weeks , then on friday the revs hit the roof and a load of white/grey smoke came out the exhaust, turned ignition off to stop engine, got it recovered home and started checks, thinking turbo has blown first thing...

I removed my dpf around the same time as turbo as I had driven through some flood water and killed engine. The car sat for 2 months while waiting repair with possible water in exhaust so I cleaned it out with jet wash and dried out with an air line.

Dpf is really easy to remove and surprising how much crap comes out with a powerful jet wash....

I am having some problems replacing my handbrake cable I need to replace it due to the rubber flexible bit at the front breaking and pinching the cable making it stay on that side once the handbrake has been released,

The cable itself is free as a bird in the guide tube and I can pull and push it with ease the problem I have got it once I have...

Not sure if this is a good or bad sign or an impending fault. When I bought the xantia 110 Hdi back 6 months ago it did not sound like a diesel very quiet on idle and through the gears, yesterday I got the car back all that was attended to was alternator bearings replaced (making a whooshing noise on acceleration, noise present when I bought car)...

That slight metallic clangy noise that occurs every 5 or 10 seconds might be a sign of a knackered accumulator sphere.

To check, you should be able to feel it by putting a hand or use a long screwdriver/stethoscope on the sphere/regulator, it's visible just behind the radiator on the right hand side.

When I had the C3 plugged into the lexia recently I noticed a couple of entries for cruise control/speed limiter. Does this mean I can fit it.

I know that on the C5 you can just connect the cruise control stalk below the lights and away you go. Is this the same for the C3 and if so can I connect the cruise control stalk from my C5.

It's the same part number in service.citroen, so it should work. You can look on Lexia to check that the clutch and brake switches are there, and working.

Doing a session with Diagbox on my series 2 hdi Forte.... Kept getting messages that it could not access the engine, CPH/CPH(?) and Aircon ECU's, followed by a request to input access codes. Thanks again, will try removing pipes, swapping plugs tomorrow. Thing is I have a turbo of sorts, but the motor feels very sluggish when cold - not booting it, just taking off gently. Will do another full session and take notes.

I asked because I remember my Mk1 needed a handbrake cable and front pads for an MOT. It was done at a small local garage for a ridiculously meagre price (at the time) with no fuss or bother. The owner phoned me at work to authorise the work, got the parts and phoned me about 3-4 hours later to come and pick up the car.

Would like to know some differences between the series 1, 2 and current shape C5 please? Is there any major changes and differences apart from being a newer car? Which is the better car? I have read that apart from fuel economy the 4 cylinder diesel is better than V6 engines and cheaper and easier to maintain in terms of parts costs?...

I have run hydropnumatics continually since the CX, used to do diesel conversions before that but once I had driven a CX25 DTR Safari I didn't see the necessity anymore. I used them for work for many years covering 30,000 miles some years. Still have one XM which I am hoping to get back on the road shortly. I don't think the C5 is as nice to drive...

Does anyone know which type of electrovalves is in a C5 II 2006/2007 AL4 automatic ???

I'm having issues with my gearbox, and after replacing the oil pressure sensor, which didn't fix it, I took it to a Aut. Specialist for an Oilchange.

My 2006 C5 2ltr Hdi runs extremly well, 65k on clock. However for the last 10000 miles, about once a month the depolution warning has been coming on for a few miles and then going off!
A week ago it came on and stopped on!

hi all having heck of problems with Citroen c3 started with car going into limp mode ,then engine missing badly ,tried so far new air flow meter, changed injector 4 new plugs things are much better but when starting from cold will not tick over till engine heats up, even then it runs erratically
when changing plugs one of them was had oil round...

about a week ago I invested in a key fob repair kit for my Mk2 Xantia and sent the key fobs off to have the supplied new switches fitted as they had broken off. was ok for 700 miles then again
now need to take it off again
its a crcp1 r70 bosch pump
i can get brand new never been fitted to car crcp 1 r65 bosch fuel pump for very good price
its from 110hdi

My understanding of the problem regarding the 1.6 is the small filter that fits inside the turbo pipe, this becomes blocked & the turbo fails, get that pipe removed & get the filter out & the turbo will then be fine. Stupid design imho.

Pretty simple really, The cable runs through an outer plastic sheath which is within a protective plastic covered metal spiral pipe.
