c5 temp high/ then wont start till engine abit cooler

Unread post by bosrasham123 »

hi all

i own a 2006 mk2 Citroen c5 2.0 hdi vtr diesel hatchback

the problem im having ,and its very frustrating so need help asap

so heres the low down

in a morning my car starts fine
then the temp can get hot after bout 2 mile ,
temp gauge got a bit over half way ( bout 47 / 48 ) if u were looking at the minutes of a clock
then if i stopped and switched the engine off,it would not come back on till engine gets a bit cooler maybe 20 mins or so
fan does not come on,even at the high temp
fan comes on if i turn the inside fans on in the car,but not at a fast speed,if i turn the fans off wen car is warm the coolant fan outside does not come on at all
i have no lose of water or oil in water ,and no white mayo in my oil or anything else of that nature

so does the radiator fan have 2 speeds (1 for coolant fan and 1 for inside car fan aircon )
my radiator fan only has the 1 fan , iv noticed on some c5 they have 2,but i have the 1

plz someone help me, i hope its not my head thats gone

I think you really need to get a Lexia diagnostics box connected to the car, so that at least you can see how hot it is really getting, and whether that is the cause of the engine not starting.

There may be a forum member near you who has a Lexia and will give you a diagnostics session, or maybe you could buy one of your own.
