+ a mercedes clk convertible

Post by renagade »

Hi Guy's
I want to add a convertible Mercedes to my garage and was wondering if any of you guy's have had any experience with the type. I have 5k to spend so I know I will not get a newish one but I understand the 2005 onwards have a galvanised body. What do you guy's think.??????

I'm not sure of the start date for the galv treatment but before that a number of models (not just the SLK) rusted badly along the bottom of the doors & wings.

Mercedes did not accept any claims! I know of two people who will never buy a Merc again.

That is actually a worse bet on a 2nd hand car than a £5k C6 :)

Understood but the c6 is not a convertible. So I take it I keep my 5k and put it under the mattress.

You have more luck than me if you trust a 5k SLK will not be a money pit, as for what you do, totally up to you, your 5k not mine.

An angle grinder could turn the c6 into a convertible [emoji13] [emoji12] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

Hi Guy's it's renagade again,
Well went to look at a 2005 clk240 avantgarde with 60k on the clock at a very well known garage here in Doncaster. What a load of rubbish compared to my 2009 c5 x7. I only got offered 2k for a trade in and looking at the two cars I know which one will be staying on MY drive.
The ride I found to be way to hard in comp. with the c5 and the materials in the cabin were I thought old and fluffy not like the modern lines of the C5. So there we have it ,money stops in my pension account and stick with the C5.

A friend bought one. 2.2? I think. Apparently they had oil leak issues from the camshafts I think which then screwed some of the electronics. It was back and forth to the garage.
