Hi, its a 96 1.8 auto, green. Not sure spec level, nothing fantastic. I like older cars, the seats are real comfy it has the older car lower side bigger window look. Its not a rocket ship but it floats well !
Theres a few issues were the previous owner has over maintained the car, and sunroof ( which I miss on modern cars ! ) isnt working.
Much more comfy than my c5.
Also I noticed whilst looking around it , it has some of the biggest rear doors ive seen on a 'normal car ' !?

I had a 1.8 auto Xantia years ago, probably a 95 or 96. it was a really 'sweet' combination of engine and gearbox - not the fastest but good to live with. SX trim, no aircon but had all I needed. Would have kept it long term but I needed 7 seats at the time.

Out of interest the sunroof on my XM had a nasty habit of opening and not wanting to close! It was the switch. What a stupid concoction of springs and balls and bits of tin.

Took it to work today, the car hasnt been used properly for a year. I did a 50 mile round trip, no issues, even got stuck in hot traffic as someone had managed to take the front of there car off and leave it facing the wrong way in the middle of the straight dual carriageway ??
It was all good and relaxed driving, funny this morning though in the dark, had no dash lights and couldnt find the dimmer switch. I have since been shown where it is ! Silly place imo !

Still no dash lights but no biggy. Still driving well, ive used more revs to loosen it up and get things 'used'
Just put £20 in so checking fuel economy now, not sure what to expect ! It sits 1000 rpm higher at cruise than my c5.
Brake pedal dosnt have much movement or feel. Brakes work though ?
Gearbox down changes under braking but fairly noticeable, im not sure how noticeable this should be ?

Hi, actually theres a story behind that, as we checked it before and it looked felt and smelt more like motor oil. We have now changed half of it and the box improved . So will change the oil out again with fresh.
So basically its not red ! But we are pretty sure the previous owner or someone has chucked motor oil in at some point........

As its an earlier xantia they had the zf 4 speed like a bx and should only run on dextron 2, anything else will kill it, quickly!

If anyone tells you dextron 3 or 4 is an improvement ignore it!

Get the lot out quickly or you'll have a dead'un!

Gsf sell the correct oil. Nothing else will work in that box.

Xantia brakes are much different to C5 ones. the C5 uses a traditional brake booster and fluid, whereas the Xantia (and BX/XM/GS etc etc!!) use the hydraulic system, so the brake fluid is the LHM. as a result, there isn't a booster, more a valve that opens when you press the brake pedal and diverts pressurised fluid to the brake lines. the pedal as a result has really short travel!
