Are you kidding Oli - MUCH as I would love to (can't find your ad as yet), my X7 is giving me enough problems as it is! :-D

I really loved my CX Prestige back in the day, and nearly toyed with replacing it with an NSU RO 80 for £500 at the time - but couldn't be parted with her. I'm sure you'll get a buyer and a good price - incidentally, I've also just seen a GS BIROTOR with the NSU Wankel engine for a similar cool £110k!

OK, well here goes, since I've owned her from 20k miles (now 65k):
  • New A/C Condenser
  • New A/C Compressor (job booked for next week)
  • New clutch
  • New Dual Mass Flywheel
  • New Steering Rack
  • Crankcase Oil Leak needing new seals, which contaminated new clutch, so
  • New clutch again as result of above
  • New Drivers Door Window Motor and Regulator (Citroen don't repair - just replace the lot).
  • New Driver's Windscreen Wiper Motor unit
  • 4 New TPMS Tyre monitoring Sensors (after one blew out like a bullet - the whole valve stem!) - so got them all replaced
  • New Rear Suspension Pipe (oil leaking from the kink created from the bend in the pipe - manufacturing issue)
  • New Windscreen (pitted) and as a result of this:
  • - needed a new Rain / Light Sensor.
  • Front and Rear Height correctors replaced and suspension callibrated.
That's on top of servicing , new discs and pads all round and new software downloads for the BSI.
I THINK that's it so far, but hey, it's early days yet!!!

Having said that, the vast majority of the work has been covered under Citroen Warrantly and extended Warranty for the last 3 years, which I am soooo glad I took out. I'll never knock waranties again - so long as they are provided by a reputable company and not a mickey mouse affair. So I have to recommend Citroen Extended Warranty as I have never yet been let down by them.

I do love my car Oli, despite all this - I have NEVER been without a Hydraulic Citroen since I passed my driving test and as choices are now very limited it had to be a C5 - the natural progression from the previous 2 C5 models I had. I couldn't quite pluck up the courage to go for a C6 at the time - as I had heard horrendous reports of complications with them and the very expensive repairs - especially with the AMVAR when that goes wrong - a lot is dealer level stuff and I can't really do a lot of my own maintenance these days.

The X7 is a solid car, no doubt - build quality is way better than the previous models - but the Steering Rack issues is a well-known prooblem - if you do go for one - see if it has had this done (Citroen only replace the whole rack and don't sell or repair them) - some others have had some success with third part refurbs - others have had leaks again shortly afterwards. The only other thing is the DMFs - treat them gently, don't ride the clutch ever and they can last - but this is a problem with other cars too, not just the X7. If looking to get one for the long term, try and get an Exclusive with a good optional trim level - Full Leather seats, with Massage, Xenon directional lighting with the Adaptive Front Lighting System, Front & Rear Parking Sensors with Gap measurement, LDWS, one with a good telematics system (Navidrive 3D, eMyway, RT6 system), Philip HiFi Amp upgrade, etc. They do make the difference between a nice example and a basic Exclusive. Sorry for the long answer! :-D

I take it you mean the green (or grey now) floaty ones?! Me too, don't like Renault, never have - apart from the T16 - maybe because it nicked a bit of styling from Citroen, the rear especially......

I do... It actually makes me sad when I see a car sitting down over it's rear wheels because the cart springs can't take it...

In 2016 all cars should self level.

But was that the fault of the car or its owners. :)

One of the cars I used to service when I was the grease boy back in 1950 was a Morris Six, the owner was a Birmingham antique dealer, he did two trips a week, Birmingham, London, Bournemouth and every Saturday morning brought the car in for service, as part of the service he insisted we spray the underside from end to end with lube, (we used an mixture of old engine oil and paraffin).
I saw that car about eight years ago still running and rust free.

One of these.

Oh yes it had had a few owners when I bought it Gibbo. But even though it was on its last legs it was still lovely to drive and I always remember how powerful the headlights were. They really were very bright.

It never ceases to amaze me how reluctant owners are to protect the undersides and cavities on their vehicles. Northern European weather, UK included, shouts a pretty loud message, but some folk just don't seem to get it.
