My ax diesel was idling away quite happily when all of a sudden there was a huge bang the engine stopped and a big cloud of smoke from under the bonnet. I opened the bonnet to find that the stop solenoid had blown it's innards out. I have just aquired my second Xantia after the ECU on my first one died. This one is a mk2 1999 with beautiful leather interior, PMB and fun gadgets like a rain sensor.

However, the plip key does not work. The previous owner put in the wrong battery, then decided he'd rather use the spare key as it took up less space in his pocket.....

Symptoms: Squeaks on 1st start then stops afer about 2 mins.
I hear it occasionally when accelerating in 1st and 2nd.
Is it likely to be the belt (1000miles old) or could it be a bearing somewhere?
I thought it might be rubbing on some debris of the old belt and it may have left traces in one of the ribs in the drive wheel or A/C compressor, so I...

Seems that pressure gradually builds up and the suspension gets harder over a period of a month or two. Easy to sort out as I check the LDS level anyway but why would this happen.

I know you have a topic already about blowers, resistors and staff. I took the blower out, changed the resistor, put everything back together, engine start..... nothing.
So I double checked all the wires connected properly, cleaned the connections with spray, but still nothing. I did swap back the the old and blower on full speed. So...

i have just bought a 2008 c6 2.7 hdi
it has suddenly developed a bad coolant leak coming from underneath the rats maze on top of the block in center
as fast as you put coolant in it pours out i think and recall seeing a post about a water manifold damaged in this area

On the end of the guide tube (inside the wheel arch) is a black plastic shroud, should I remove this or does it actually belong to the guide tube?

Trying to troubleshoot why my horn isn't working, following the reassembly of my heater matrix job.

I reckon I need to find the horn compressor relay to check what's going on.

Can anyone advice me on the correct tyre pressures?

The sticker on the door column says front 2.3 and rear 2.5.

This conflicts with all the online tyre pressure sites which say front 2.3 and rear 2.1

Hi, I'm a new member, and having trouble with my C5 2.0 HDI
I've got to change the turbo, and in the Haynes manual, it says depressurize the suspension and drop the front subframe.
Can I put long bolts in to hold the subframe low enough to release the turbo?
Or does anyone have any other suggestions

Any help would be much appreciated!

About a week ago windscreen washer literally died . I have seen how the water went down as if someone has turned off the power from the pump.
After two days the wipers also stopped reacting to the stalk. Normally when you pull the stalk towards you windscreen wash operates and wiper also operates for a period of time.

I've just done my regular oil change but replaced 10/40 oil semi synthetic with 05/30 w oil fully synthetic and the rattling tappets I had, have gone :!:

It was always about 2000 -3000 rpm.
