Just wondering if anybody would be so kind as to drag up some info on Black & White, their original specifications etc from the numbers? Would be much appreciated, please and thank you.
White is RP 7147 (I think CJ suffix)
Paint code EWP CS
and Chassis # *VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]*
Black is RP 6870 (no factory suffix visible)
Paint code EXY CR
and Chassis # *VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]*
Does the program/website that allows you to get such info cost you anything to use, subscription or the like? Could donate a paltry couple of quid if it helps?
Just had a good read through, couple of interesting points. White is showing as having ABS but I noticed no lamp for same, will check further. Also there should be an alarm (I thought it looked strange having the ultrasonic sensors but no key switch in the scuttle, maybe removed, hope it's still there just stuck out of the way) and the mirrors, instrument panel as well as wheels, seats and carpets were all upgrades after it left the factory.
Black, however, was pretty much as she left the production line bar service items right up until we stuck a dirty great ZX engine in there!

If you've got a few hours to spare, and the patience of Job, and running the right bits on your PC, and don't mind a challenge.......... then the Citroen workshop documentation software - that includes the ability to find original car specs - can be installed, complete, at home on a computer if you get hold of the install discs or someone is kind enough to send you a set Be warned though - it's a bit of a trial to install. There's a hell of a lot of info that has to be put on your computer. Not for the faint hearted
Ah, that's why everyone ain't at it... I knew there'd be a good reason. I think I'd rather it was something I had to buy than something taking a while on a computer, I find it hard enough to put up with windows updates haha

The alarm key switch was deleted, I think in 1996.
Oh, could be an explanation. did they not modify the scuttle or have a blanking plug though? Why did they delete it too, more intelligent alarm that didn't need it? Keypad deactivation instead maybe as this one has (had) the immobiliser. I'll have to scan through the appropriate bit of the handbook & hope it's the correct one
LHD cars got a new scuttle trim with no hole for the switch, but RHD cars kept the empty hole. I think the alarm was updated at the same time, but there is no means to permanently disable on the later cars (other than unplugging or removing the fuse).
Thank you I would ideally like to get the alarms functional, certainly on the black car as I know the thing works properly & no spurious triggering, just the sounder is dead, presumably internal battery failure (it can, when switched on, sometimes be heard to make a high pitched whine not dissimilar to the deflection whine on a CRT but that's about as loud as it's been).
Not as sure on the white car as the plip doesn't currently work so haven't even looked at arming it yet.
