The air bag warning light has started staying on in my 2001 synergie, but what I have noticed is that when the wife is in the passenger seat it seems to stay off, I know some vehicles have sensors in the seat but I cant see any wires on mine which are the swivel type but the mot is due next month and I don't think mot man would be to happy with her sat there while he tests it!, any ideas.
Thanks Simon.

Re: synergie intermittant air bag light
Needs to go on Diagbox to see what it's upset about....

Re: synergie intermittant air bag light
Agreed, diag/lexia needed ideally.
However, if this wife-in-seat thing holds true, I believe the pretensioner mechanism on these is in the actual seatbelt reel and may be disturbed into working by her wearing of the belt. Popping the trim off round the bottom of the B-piller should show up the plug on the reel. Just make sure you disconnect the battery and wait 10min at least before unplugging/remaking the connection to avoid accidental triggering. (less vital than with airbags, but they still make a nasty bang and get hot when they fire, not to mention costing to replace...)

Re: synergie intermittant air bag light
Booked the synergie in to local citroen independent, for diag, they said they think ecu may be at fault but reset light which stayed off for 4 hrs, its got me thinking though as I have read that ecu is between front seats under carpet, and I had a problem with sunroof leaking and that's where it got wet. Question is the ecu going to be unique to synergie as I cant find one but see lots of xsara piccasso ones cheap on e bay and wonder if they might be similar.

Re: synergie intermittant air bag light
Yes it's situated under the floor between the front seats, but I can't see it being the same as much else due to the gubbins being located on the seat belt pretensioners in the bottom of the B pillar
