C5 DPF fault

Post by Harlequin »

Heya - got an 02 reg C5 exclusive estate - 2.2HDi

it has a DPF fault (and ESP fault )

put some DPX42 in the tank , tried the reset method (reset amount in lexia , reset faults , put some fuel in to move needle, then run regeneration)

but I'm still getting perm faults

and

I changed level to 1000 grams , yet the above says 229?

Early 2.2s were notoriously difficult to reset the additive - often a new ECU is required....

The figure in the bottom screen is, I think, the amount of additive that has been deposited in the filter rather than the amount of fresh fluid in the tank.

Did you have a look at this procedure - it is listed under the C8 for a 2004 model - and could well be the same for your car before the process changed on later models without an additive ECU? This procedure just mentions resetting the additive level, not entering the quantity filled - and Richard is right, although ambiguous, that figure is I think what has been injected, not what you have refilled. So I think you need to reset this to zero. Please let us know how you get on if you decide to give this procedure a try.

Reinitialise the information from the engine ECU on the total quantity of additive ; Follow the diagnostic equipment procedure :
  • Select the "diagnosis" function
  • "choice of vehicle"
  • Enter the vehicle’s RPO N°
  • Global test
  • Injection selection
  • Diesel engine
  • Aftersales orders, particle filter Reinitialisation of the total additive amount (reset)
  • Read then delete the additive total quantity parameter.
  • Carry out a reading of the engine ECU fault codes.
  • Simulate a filling of the fuel tank in order to switch off the Particle Filter warning lamp :
  • Opening of the fuel filler cap
  • Add 5 litres of diesel fuel
  • Closing of the fuel filler cap
Check the status of the particle filter in parameter measures, using the same method as for a repair (particle filter/additive ECU in the parameters: Particle Filter Status and Particle Filter Inlet/Outlet Pressure Difference) :
If the particulate emission filter is regenerated : Correct
If not : Check the sensor and the sealing of the exhaust line

It's not coded AFAIK so it could work - however, there are 2 types (well 3 actually, but the earlier one is replaced by a middle one); and it's possible that a used replacement will also refuse to be re-set. If possible I would check it works before parting with any hard earned. Here are the part details:

1525 AZ
01
- SINCE RPO 09492 UNTIL RPO 09869
FOR EOLYS 176 (DPX10) (£227.51)
1525 CZ
01
- SINCE RPO 09870 (£131.46)

Prices included, as they are still allegedly available....

mines an early one - using DPX42 rpo is 09250 , so potentially drop in second hand ecu , go through replacement ecu in lexia and voila?

Actually it's a 1525 AS (my error) - which is the additive Control box that I have listed for your VIN - currently available for £152.28 (£182.74 Inc.) from Citroen. The other part number for 1525 AS is 9646216380 - which is not the one you have quoted Simon??
As Richard Says the 1525 AZ is a replacement part.

This is a tricky one - but there is one on the bay here for less (new):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-307-E ... 1608517519
Is it possible the wrong one has been previously fitted?

I can't find the alternative number for the 1525AZ Simon, I'm guessing there aren't too many replacement ones about on the market. As for configuration - according to the documents there are a set of configuration tables if replacing the additive ECU - and they recommend writing all the previous values down. Configuration is via Internet - the only thing I have on the tables is for one of the Computers listed (EAS100 or EAS 200). The tables are the engine type, and against these are the 'Distance travelled by the particulate emission filter' in kms which shows the number in grams of Eolys 176 or DPX 42 'deposited in the filter'. I don't know if these are of any help or not.

I wouldn't, will likely fail the new MOT checks coming in Simon, as not legal to remove now for cars on public roads at any rate.
