Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

hope this may be of help to anyone having a similar problem
it may apply to other citroens such as the c5
on my c8 it would not rev over 3000 rpm with the engine management light on
when I did a code read with lexia I was getting a code of p0190 fuel rail sensor fault
this was traced to the wire from the rail sensor enters the main loom the brown...

Right,

The fbh fitted to the HDI, can it be forced to run from a lexia for testing to make sure it works and if not at least I'll get a fault thrown up hopefully!!

Like discussed in the other topic, I've managed to run the Lexia as intended on my dad's C5 2005 Saloon and I've noticed a few errors (right column shows YES) after the Diagnostics run which can't be deleted (or reappear after deleting). I'll list them here, and if there are any takers with free advice, feel free to suggest anything useable ......

my lexia used to do that had to unplug then plug back in, do you know what firmware your using as if its b firmware that could be the problem or part of it as b firmware will only run up a certain point on diagbox, and if like me your running the latest scary update...

Hi,

Just wondering if someone can offer tips which they have found will improve the mpg on a 2.2L. I've had it maybe two months and getting average 40mpg for urban and motorway. Obviously the 2.0L would be better but a changeover aint happening at the moment. Any thoughts or links?

In my absence what an inspired conversation this turned into. Well an undulating ramble between the art of motorcycle maintenance and Top Gear that is, just like real life.
I just got 50mpg @ 60mph use cruise so that was better. Will continue however and do the ERG, DSP, FAP. Avoiding where possible RAC, DOA, SORN ;)

HI all

Just bought a 2009 Series 3 Exclusive Automatic Estate C5. It has a few issues to deal with including non working front parking sensors. Yes they are fitted, but do not show on the central display. Rear sensors work fine. Lexia shows no fault with parking assistance, but I'm not sure if its possible to turn the front sensors off and on....

Hi Had AA out as have a problem with fuel economy didnt seem to matter if doing 55 or 80 got similar instant economy and noticed range was going down anyway what else happened was had just under half tank 200 odd range had to stop on a steep hill just missed the handbrake/clutch bite point pulling away and stalled it. now 80 mile range and tank...

More and more over the past 3 months the alarm will go off without obvious cause on my year 2000 Xantia Hdi90 saloon. When I leave the car, I lock and alarm with the 'blip' but probably on one in three occasions the alarm will go off. Usually after only two or three minutes, sometimes after 20 or 30 minutes.

I have tried double locking...

Well, I suppose there had to be one problem with the new car, and it seems to be the heated seats, both driver and passenger.
Any setting from 1 to 3 and they remain firmly at ambient temperature.

I've checked the 20 amp fuse, which is fine, so my suspicion is simply that the elements have failed.

I've never had heated seats before so I think I...

Hello all.
I'm new to the forum.

I've arrived here as I cannot find a single thing on the web regarding the removal technique for these front bumper inserts on the Citroen C5.

they are the plastic painted inserts (rather than the black rubber type on earlier models) that wrap around the front corners of the bumper.

I have tried prizing the top...

Might have to do a wheel bearing.... anyone got or used a kit like this ? Seems like a good idea (as long as it will give enough pull to shift the bearing initially :lol: ) - says you can do it with the hub carrier on the car, but how you get out the rusty ring that used to be the circlip when it's behind the hub on the car is anyone's guess...

:)....and fixed the front bumber grill.

I needed to support the crack so added some chrome to help, hot pined so quite solid. What do you think of the Spots ?

Some chrome left over, so under the window seems like a good place for it.

Very nice in that colour and unusual especially with the exclusive chrome roof rails. Lesser models, like mine, are black.

I've never chosen or rejected a used car because of its colour. They have always been bought because of the deal or condition.

It can't be that hard can it....? Tried to change a bulb in my Sister's car today, but can't get the cover off the light. Haynes says pop the cover off with an appropriate screwdriver. Service.citroen shows a different type of lamp with a screw in it! This has two small holes either end of the lens - which looks like it ought to relase the cover,...

Today I have mostly spent the morning trying to make the rev gauge and turbo work on my Xantia.
So far I have found that the waste gate actuator seems to have no effect open or closed.
I have removed the c clip, unclipped the arm and adjusted the actuator manually.
Whatever the setting no boost.

I can't find any sign of hoses off or leaks.

New thermostat and seal installed so I can drive without leaking coolant.
4 days work to go then new brakes and rear spheres.
Rev counter still needs adjusting, got fed up of being cold and wet so can wait.

Hi

I'm ignorant of mechanical things so help needed please.

I recently bought a 2004 petrol Xsara 1.4 and the engine when running on open roads won't get past around 75 Deg. If I stop in traffic it does get higher but otherwise the temperature stays on the low side. Is this something I should get fixed? I'm guessing yes and worry about winter...

Thermostat sounds about right to me - if it sticks open it'll just about warm up when stationary but when you're moving it'll overcool.

Hi, I want to change the Anti sink sphere on my S1 Xantia. The pipe seal can only be sourced from my Dear Old Main Dealer!. They are asking what diameter is the pipe ? they are telling me it could be 3.5, 4.5 or 6.5 m/m. Anybody know ? many thanks in advance Terry. :o

the seal is only there to catch a slight weep, 99% of the sealing is metal to metal where the tip of the pipe enters the inner bore, point B below:

i believe the seal being compressed holds the hydraulic pressure Simon, and not just seepage

Sorry about double posting in case this has been asked earlier,,,
How can you tell if the antisink sphere (-98 Xantia 1.8 16V Break) needs to be changed ? I know that front and other back spheres are gone when the suspension feels hard but what about this one ? My car stays up so for that reason the antisink sphere seems to be in good condition.

Be aware that an anti-sink sphere is not conventionally mounted and requires a different procedure to remove..

The trip computer on my 51 plate xsara has stopped responding to the end of the wiper stalk when I push it, has anyone else had this problem ?, I hoped it might just be a fuse but I'm thinking it's most likely to be good old citroen electrics, if anyone has any ideas for a fix, I would be very grateful to hear them.

1998 Xantia 18.i 5 Door Hatchback

I recently changed both front spheres and the accumulator.

Car now rides really nice but I have a silly question.

After running the engine for a bit and moving the suspension up and down a few times and then turning the engine off.

If I then loosen the bleed bolt on the accumulator should I hear any air...

usually if there is air in the brake circuit the pedal will either pulse under light foot pressure,
or you will not have any brakes on the first part of the pedal travel, and they will lock up on the second part of the pedal travel,
to the uninitiated it will feel like the brakes are way tooooo sharp, but this will be as there is no response on...

Interested in an Automatic Xsara , but has a slight issue with the gearbox.

According to the seller, its sometimes goes into safe mode when setting off from cold. Give it a couple of miles for everything to warm up. Turn the engine off and on again, and all is well? Now showing no warning lights and the gearbox acts as it should until next time...

The lure of a C6 is becoming strong! Just need to know if there are any expensive issues I need to be aware of when looking at prospective examples for sale.
I would prefer to get one with the 2.2 engine but they are very rare so it's likely I'll have to go for a 2.7HDI, so are then any issues with this unit, and the auto box?

The front windows have an interesting characteristic that if you open then close them at high speed (80+) they don't quite seal properly on the rear edge and are noisy till you slow down again. This is much discussed on the C6 site and there are a few solutions, but it's a common peculiarity.

I found that with the GS. The airstream 'sucked' them...

Hi Guys I hooked up car to lexia to delete the usual error codes and it told me that my EOLYS tank was empty but I have put it a litre only 7000miles ago with a previous litre 5000 miles before that. It says there is 70g of fluid in the tank? Does that equal 70mls? I'm going to order another litre of fluid but I thought 1 litre was good for 10000...

Thanks guys and yes I like the idea of writing it down on a card. I'll do that next weekend when my next litre of EOLYS arrives. Final question. Is there a reason why dpx42 is no longer available and its all this more generic PAT1 fluid? Don't Citroen make DPX anymore?

Hi Guys

I have an 04 reg Berlingo there is a rubber channeled strip that goes on the shell that forms a seal when the front & side doors are closed.
The one on my berlingo has started to peel away causing rain to come in to the cabin.

I have tried to restick it using double sided tape & glue etc but it keeps coming away.

On my C5 1.6 HDi mk2 (2007), there are 2 electrical connectors which plug in to the top of the diesel fuel tank (Accessed through a circular black plastic panel under the rear seats - Note this panel should be prised off and not turned as it has cables clipped to the back of it).

Hi again. I'm the one with the blue Xantia HDI 90LX. Thanks for helping me with the air-con and ABS sensors. Now the airbag warning light has come on. It started intermittently and when I turned the car off then restarted it would be ok. Now its on all the time. The manual sais you should redo the airbags by Citroen after 10 years. I am 15....

I replaced the drivers seat about 6 months ago. I will have a good look to check to see about the connectors. I also replaced the instrument panel about the same time. The steering wheel cover is securely on, maybe I should take it off again too and recheck.
Yeah a diagnostic could be a good idea. Its not an airbag age related problem then...

Does it smoke while you are turning it over? if so fuel is getting in OK so it could be that the battery is past its best and not turning it over fast enough, or could be a lazy starter. If you don't have any smoke probably air getting into the fuel system.

Hi, I have a 58 C5 2.0 HDI, done just over 36k. Noticed this morning there is what I can only describe as a constant tapping noise which seems to be coming from the engine. Can mainly hear it when stationary. Don't know if it is doing it at high speed, as I can't hear it, but at very low speed (10mph and below) I can just about hear it. Noise...

If its a piston sounding noise, then it may be the crank pulley (the one which has the bearings)? Can't remember if i felt anything through the pedal or not though, mine's a mk1 c5 2.0 hdi 110bhp, so your issue may be totally different. Probably best taking the car to an indie to see if a bigger problem is looming on the horizon if you leave it.

Hi, my S1 Xantia, built into the windscreen scuttle is a lock that fits the ignition key. What is the purpose of the lock ? probably a silly question. it sits right hand side of the scuttle :oops: Terry.

My wife took her C4 diesel in to Citroen dealer in Dundee today for MOT.

Suddenly all these need sorted before they would pass it. I don't think they even MOTd.

Osf track rod end £128.33
Nsr caliper, rear brake disks and pas £582.20
Wipers £30
Fuel treatment £30

She says this is just for the parts.

What are your thoughts on these prices....

The STOP light is operated by several inputs Mike, it has a diode 'OR' gate from the hydraulics, oil pressure, water level, temperature and so on...

What's keeping the STOP light on will be indicated by any other warning light that's on too. Hydraulics is indicated by the light immediately to the left of the STOP light and this is controlled from...

As Jim says there must be another light lit as well as the STOP light is just a catch all warning that lights if any other warning is lit to catch the drivers attention.

Maybe taking a picture of the warning lights when the stop light is on is a good idea ? Then we can...

I have a Berlingo 1.8i Year 2000. The Cooling fan comes on very intermittently. The sensor in the radiator has been changed. The fan runs when tested. Not a problem when on open road but in traffic or town...

The oil dipstick tube has snapped off where it enters the block
I have tryed with a small chisel to tap it out but will not budge
Has anyone else manged to get one out ?

Just wondering if any one could please help I have a citroen c4 vts coupe 2.0 hdi 2005 and went to start it this afternoon but will not start but does crank I plugged my reader in and only fault code showing is p2670 not even sure what this fault code means just wondering if anyone has had similar fault with same fault code. This may or may not help. My Hdi failed to start only once.. about 3 years ago.. just after I'd filled up.. no clue as to why .. had to get the AA man out.. after checking all the usual things he used a squirt of easy start and she started and has run perfectly ever since..but I've always kept a can of easy start in the boot ever since.

Having a garage clear out and found a Jerry can (proper steel one) with 4 gallons of diesel in it. I recall when I had to travel a lot for work buying it during some kind of threatened strike or shortage. Must be well over 12 years ago.

My starter motor is now dead...need a new one but am confused by the number of teeth. Anyone knows how to determine what teeth number suits my car without removing the unit from the engine? it's a 53 reg xsara picasso 2.0 HDI 90.

And anyone knows CEVAM? The price is attractive on mister auto but i don't want to buy rubbish.

If there is only one tooth difference it doesn't make much difference to the diameter or pitch but of course there is a correct motor for each application.

New member from Ireland I joined the forum for some advice
I have spent a full day trying to remove the pin from the release bearing lever on a 2003 1.4 Xsara with no joy. Can I remove the gearbox with the pin still inserted? The release bearing is gone. Any help or suggestions most welcome. Thanks
