Suspension pump spindle rotation.

Post by seanrx »

Hi All.
I have removed and cleaned motor of my bhi unit and now I have a question about the 8-) pump spindle/ shaft only.

To anyone who checked their pump, how freely did the spindle rotate?

Was it free enough to rotate with one finger?

Or like mine, did you have to grip spindle end to turn and it felt notchy with some resistance?

No direct experience of this, but based on other pump mechanisms I've played with I can see the movement being "notchy" if it's still in-circuit and effectively trying to pump fluid as you turn it.

Hopefully someone has direct experience of this on the C5 though?

I think there is bound to be some resistance as the valves open and close so notchy might be an expected condition.

I seen a bhi drawing from Marc and it states 5 pistons surrounding the spindle, so with your replies it seems my piston is OK.
Have to be sure, as the motor I cleaned wasn't as dirty as expected, just a light coating of dust.

Not tested yet. Which I have a question for.
Going to follow a guide that I seen posted on here.
A 2nd wire is needed for the command switch, so that's 2 wires that must connect to battery positive?
Any grade wire will do instead of buying crocodile leads?
