Tick...but no tock.
Sitting in traffic today, no radio on, I could hear a rythmic ticking from the engine area....around once a second. It was quite soothing really, but I suppose I should find out what it might be!
Oh, the car's an '09 2.0HDi Exclusive.

Did the speed of the ticking vary with engine speed? Maybe half the engine speed even? Did it disappear when the revs went up slightly?

Has the Hdi got the chain driven oil pump like an XUD? That makes a noise I took a few years to learn to trust.

Sorry for the delay in replying. It didn't change at all with rising/falling engine speed. Its not come back, only did it the once. Does the suspension pump make a noise?

Only a whirring / whining noise, not a clicky noise on the C5.
