I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Right, i've been to the stealers to enquire as to how much these will cost and basically they want £40 for the set of 3 mounts and the little piddly switch!

I've looked of GSF and buypartsby and they both sell the mounts at a fairly reasonable price but i cant find the switch.

Does anyone have these spare or know of where i can get them all...

The missus has just taken delivery of a 2litre petrol Megan Scienic RXE...which compared to her 1995 1.1litre rusty Fiesta is absolute luxury.

I'm pretty sure it's overdue a timing belt change, but on a quick visual inspection I wasn't sure if it ran on a timing belt or a timing chain.

Could anyone tell me which it is and offer any advice...

Hi can anyone help my friend has a 2L 1995 Laguna and the problems he has got are every now and then the LCD display on the instrument panel shows all sorts of weard characters and everthing comes on he says if you give the top of the panel a good thump i cures it :?:
The other problem is the heater control which changes the heat only blows hot...

Its been ages I've heard about glycerin (or any fluid) filled dial instruments !
The purpose is to dampen the needle movements.

Of course if an air bubble escapes into the dial area - it will sort of totally damage the view on the dial :wink:
The instrument will have the filler hole at top position - when they are fitted. This is to avoid...

Laguna Power Steering Rack - 1996 RT-D.

Hello.

Went up to my local car auction on wednesday (just for a look) and came back with a 1996 Laguna - must learn to keep my hands in my pockets!

Seems like a decent enough car apart from a worn (knocking) steering rack.

The Haynes book says the front subframe needs to come off to change it.

Just wondered if anybody has done this job and...

Megane tailgate hinge broken

Renault Megane hatchback that has one of the tailgate hinges broken. Not easy to look at what has failed becaue of the weight of the tailgate and the obvious instability, but it looks to me like a rod that goes through both parts of the hinge that has snapped, leaving the centre rod intact and two stubs either side.

Cannot see any threads at all...

Got a 2.0 1994 espace.

Blew a head gasket today, done a strip down and discovered the cylinder head knackered (technical term) got another head and new gasket, plus bolts. refitted the new head, set up the timing, not easy on an espace no marks for the crank pully. Tried to restart, but nothing ,just turning over like theres no spark or fuel,...

Could be as simple as the HT leads not fitted correctly.
Hint : any Haynes manual will have the general procedure for the valve timing - and clearance setting/checking.

Hello N reg espace , the radio switches it's self on when it feels like it, even when the vehicle is locked and empty. Have taken to disconecting the battery at night! So the question is where is the actual radio located?I know that it seems a silly question but the dealer doesnt know. I am sure if I could get to the radio I could work the problem...

1994 Espace Alarm

Hi, i have a 1994 espace, the remote fob unlocks and locks the doors but does not disarm the alarm/immobiliser. At the moment the alarm is switched off via the key on the alarm siren. Its a gemini alarm, looks like an after market installation, if this is the case could it be that there is a bad connection from the wires coming from the locking...

You may well be right in your thoghts on a defective connection to the alarm.
Cant think it will be connected inside the door though - that would be silly.
Try find the 2 wires running to all lock motors (they are connected in parallel). These 2 wires change polarity to lock/unlock the lock motors.

I suspect that somewhere up under the dash there...

Is there a probleme with the airbag or is this something to do with the seat belt tensioners or wires under the seats. I cant afford to talk it in to a dealership to get it checked over,

ìt may be that your problem lies with the board computer or electronic sensors DTI`s have a lot of electronics ,the pump is controlled electronically you will have a cold start sensor and a warm start sensor .start with the basics visually check for leaks ,when did you last change the fuel filter,is the air filter blocked ? are the glow plugs...

It doesn't sound like glow plugs to me, because once engine is warm, you should be able to turn it off and on without using the glow plugs, if it was plugs it'd start straight up so it's not that.
Woudln't have thought cold sensor, as again, it'd start when warm.
I'd say ECU, if you have a mate with same car, try their ecu.

Pop the plugs out for a look. Are they gapped correctly and clean?

try a carrier back and elastic band over the distributer, if condensation is building up on there, that'd explain whey dealer cleaned it. No guarentees though.
Personally I'd change the plugs, leads and distributor / rotor arm as a matter of service anyway.

Sounds like a fuse (god only knows where not having the relevant BOL to hand) or wire. Check if the supply for this runs via a relay - if so this may be duff. Simple trace and check im afraid - pain in the bum, but you should be able to do this in an evening.

Secondly, the good news, sounds to me like it's almost 100% the connectors under your seat, they corode and make a crappy connection, so if u can seperate the plugs and clean the connections,...

Just purchased a S-Reg Laguna and the key fob will not work - BUT the car still works fine once unlocked manually - can I presume the following..

The immobiliser etc is disabled.

You may find its like the old R21. You need to plug the gearbox into the computer at the main dealer. Apparantly, they open plugs on the box, then activate solenoids to see if any fluid comes out, and they then measure how much comes out to decide if it needs filling up! Sounds a little complicated to me..... :shock:

i went to renault on tues to get the 4 digit code to disarm the imobilzer....
first time i went guy said to me costs 15 quid but i need log book and driving license

when i went in on the tues the dealers were telling me that renault do not give this code out at all and they are not allowed to.

Is this true ? or am i being fobbed off!...

you have a legal right to ask for it and they have to provide you that code for free .

Surely the code was given with the car when new ? it which case i dont see that its renaults problem that it has been misplaced.why wouldnt they be able to charge an 'administration' charge to get it for you ?

Got called round to a friend who's R19 stalled in traffic and then wouldn't start. He got the villiage mechanic to look at it - so it then started OK, he went for a (short) drive and it stopped again. Now it won't start at all. The mechanic recommended a workshop in a nearby town with a SUN diagnostic machine.

Renault Megane 1.6 Sport with a misfiring problem that comes and goes without any warning. Yesterday it started out fine then was only firing on 2 and 3, today it's fine again. Temperature makes no difference. Been like this for a few days and shows no sign of changing. One of the coils was replaced last year after a dramatic failure and at first...

Must admit I didn't notice the temp gauge going higher than normal on idle. Main problem was starting in the morning...guess spark plugs don't like a pot full of coolant!

In my case I traced the problem back to the bleed screw on one of the hoses.

Still, at least it's not a Renault 11 GTX 1.7. My fatha had so much trouble with that!

Hi all, just bought a Renault 19 (Biarritz 1994 year). Problem is when the engine gets warm, the coolant warning light comes on, BUT the coolant temperature guage shows normal, (plenty of coolant in radiator) Also at the same time the oil level warning light comes on, and the oil level indicator shows low oil (again plenty of oil) If you rev the...

Engine Number

Please help!

I've been having trouble locating the engine number on my car but now that I've found it, I can't read it. I've tried tracing it etc but am at a loss. Is there anyway I can find the engine number out? I know I can probably ring up Renault and give then the VIN number / number plate and they 'might' help, but I'd prefer to read it off...

Hi, thankyou for that but I'vetried it all apart from the sandpaper bit - the car's going for a VIC test and I don't want to get accused of tampering with it!

I used a toothbrush to clean it up (very awkward to get at), used the brush dry and dipped in WD40 to aid rust removal - no joy.

Here is the latest information concerning the tools set.

The two (2) locating dowels will now be made of 416 stainless steel. That way, nobody will have to be concerned about corrosion.

Anyway, I have a rental set up for my holiday and was wondering if anyone knows whether a pair of skis might fit inside the cabin of one of those shakin that a$$ Meganes? Would rather not fork out for a ski...

Got the old model Megane. It's a soft top and it has a boot but with a 'ski' hatch. Now I got a couple of 6' fence poles' in last summer so I'd of thought the new shape would have been bigger. The one's I drive at work feel bigger. Hope this helps.

95 laguna service light

OK folks, My wife has a 95 Laguna 8v 2 litre RT model.

Its got the 'serv' service light on the dash. Im afraid Im not the sort of person who has a 10 year old car dealer serviced so have recently given it a good all round service, fluids, filters, cambelt etc but how the heck do i turn out the service light? gotta be some simple way. any help...

Central Locking Problem

I've just bought a Laguna 1.6 16V Alize (2000) and everything worked fine for a few day but now the locks won't lock with the remote key.

If I open the driver's door and press the key fob however, the locks work but obviously as the driver's door is open everything unlocks again. This only works with the driver's door. Tried the same with the...

Espace heater speeds

A friend has this car but it is running out of heater speeds. As Muggins 'ere will probably end up trying to fix it, what am i letting myself in for to find the resistor block? Thanks all!

Had mine done.
Not a nice job.

Take out heater box above engine. To do this remove breather pipes from rear of engine. Four really awkward nuts to remove holding unit to firewall then split box and replace resistor.

I wont do it again !

Could be the that the poor earth has blown the bulb as it was arching across. Try fitting a new bulb. Or have you checked that you aint knocked the dimmer switch down?
