Laguna key not working

Hiya,

Just purchased a S-Reg Laguna and the key fob will not work - BUT the car still works fine once unlocked manually - can I presume the following..

The immobiliser etc is disabled.
I can just have another key cut at a lock smith rather than the rip off price from Renault for a seconk key?

I presume going even further than I could fit a cheap alarm to lock the doors with sensible priced transmitters- I suspect that I should to keep the insurance valid?

Have you changed batteries in the key fob? Does the key light come on?

May be your central locking receiver causing the prob? Behind interior mirror, check & make sure there's no water ingress. Lag 1, I presume?
