Unread post by sleepy0905 »

Hi can anyone help my friend has a 2L 1995 Laguna and the problems he has got are every now and then the LCD display on the instrument panel shows all sorts of weard characters and everthing comes on he says if you give the top of the panel a good thump i cures it :?:
The other problem is the heater control which changes the heat only blows hot despite moving the control to cold it is a non Air con car. :?:

Any help would be very gratefull.

1) the old TV-set banger syndrome - find the bad connection and problem solved

2) clearly a flap control cable has disengaged.

Thankyou after looking at his BOL it is going to be a case of dismantle half the dash to get to the heater controls also the book says the instruments are Glycerin filled and if you tip them up they will leak and cannot be refilled how true is this?

Its been ages I've heard about glycerin (or any fluid) filled dial instruments !
The purpose is to dampen the needle movements.

Of course if an air bubble escapes into the dial area - it will sort of totally damage the view on the dial
The instrument will have the filler hole at top position - when they are fitted. This is to avoid longterm leaks.
Meaning if you tilt the instrument more than the car will do during normal drive conditions - there is a risc of leaking.

And thats about it. It must of course be possible to remove the cluster allowing for any service - like bulb changing - or electric gremlins.
