Hi first time poster here, i have tried searching to no avail.
knocking happening in front when i go over bumps. i have come to the conclusion that it is likely to be front anti roll bar links.
My question is....
How difficult are they to replace? can i do this if the cat is parked on the road? Is it as simple as unding the two bolts removal and...

Does anyone know anything about the early 405 IR remote CL blipper? Had the car a while but never had the blipper. Where can I get hold of one apart from main dealer? Can they be re-coded to match if I find a used one?

Hey all,
I hope someone out here will be able to shed some light on my situation :(
What happened was my girlfriend and I changed the waterpump on my car, everything went well, taking the cambelt cover panels off, supporting the engine on a jack with wheel ramps underneath the subframe as extra support and precaution, put a draper locking tool...

l need to replace the lower ball joint on a 93 306 1.4 petrol, the ball joint is riveted into the wishbone, do l have to replace the wishbone or could l drill/grind the rivets out and replace just the ball joint?
Many thanks.

Hi. My 1.9 diesel was running fine. Yesterday morning it started first time, ran for a couple of seconds and then died and would not restart.
It has a Rotodiesel fuel filter housing with a manual pump that is just a 1 black button, rather than the unscrew shaft type.
First I though I had a fuel airlock and then I changed the fuel filter. In both...

Having just fitted a Microscan SCL300 remote locking controller to my P reg 406DT, I thought the following info may be of use to someone else. My car already had central locking operated by a key so it was only the remote bit that I added. The central locking control unit is located behind the glove box, by removing the 2 push out hinge pins of the...

my 306 N reg has got a fuel problem, it starts fine and runs ok untill it has been reved up, as soon as this happens the priming bulb is sucked in and i can see air going in to the fuel pump, and if it is reved for long enough while driving it will lose all power and if i put the cluch in while it has no power it cuts out.
what i have done so far...

There is a constant clicking noise coming from underneath the glove compartment, like a rapid indicator noise.
I am presuming the relay could be faulty but I am not sure if it is located anywhere near the glovebox, passenger side.
Any replies gratefully received.
Thanks,
Foxy.

Hi
I managed to pick up a pair of MI16 plastic side skirts for £10 last night.
Can anybody tell me how they are held on to a 405????
There seems to be a load of little white plastic push rivet clips attached to the skirts, Do I have to drill holes in my bodyshell to attach the side skirts????
Can they just be stuck on with some strong adhesive,...

I've just replaced the exhaust (mid and rear sections) whilst undoing the clamps what looks like an earthing strap broke off (slapped wrists). Does this need to be refitted? Is it really needed?

Greetings everyone. First post. Woo Hoo
It seems that I am not alone in having issues with my alarm system
A couple of weeks ago my horn/siren stopped sounding when I turned the alarm on and at the same time (not a coincidence I guess...) the alarm light turned itself on and remained lit when I started the car. The light comes on probably 85% of...

Hi Everyone,
I've just got a cheap 205 GTI to use for a few months and i'm attempting to put a radio in :) the wires are not clear at all but ive managed to get power to the radio. It's all tuned in and vol is max and balance is set to middle etc.
I cant seem to get anything out of the speakers?! i've looked at the back of the speaker and there...

When I came to open the rear offside door on the 406 today.....it wouldn't.
I have taken the inner door cover off and both connecting rods that pull the mechanism to release the door are still connected and operating (from outside and from inside the car), as is the rod that actuates the central locking. The central locking on the electrical...

My 205 td tacho stopped working years ago, every now and again it will work for a few days, im convinced that it is a problem at the engine end and not the guage.
Where is the pick up sensor ???

I've just been reading the handbook for my 306 (okay, I'm rather bored at the moment ) and reading the section on the airbags, it says that the airbag warning lights should come on for six seconds when you turn on the ignition. It occurs to me that I've never seen the airbag lights come on.
The manual says to contact a Peugeot dealer if the lights...

Hi all
This may seem a stupid question. Just bought a 1998 Peugeot 406 TD. Fuel flap release at side of drivers seat does not release flap. Presume cable stretched or needs adjusting. Any one any ideas as how to rectify as my arms are not long enough to pull lever and push flap at same time. Locking peg not quite clearing enough for flap to spring...

The clutch is really heavy, I mean you have to push really hard, it's like an exercise machine.
Is there a bit that wears out - a spring or something?
I don't have any problems with the actual gear change.
Anyone have the same problem, or even better an answer?
1993 1.9 diesel by the way.

Drove home yesterday and had serious idle issues, barely maintaing 500-700rpm and really rough.
As soon as I opened up the bonnet I could hear the hissing sound near the airflow meter. The hose/pipe that joints the airflow meter and throttle body has developed a leak/crack around the ribbing close to AFM side.
When squeezed the idle returns to...

Hello,
I beleive the head gasket is blown in my 106, Got a quote to replace the gasket at 300, the garage, not a dealer, but reputable peugeot specialist, advised me that the cam belt tensioner is fairly easy to set .(This is the bit the haynes manual warns to be careful with)
I'm probably going to do this myself, I'm going to buy a new cam belt,...

I have a 97 2.0 16v 406 GLX saloon and was hoping to whack in a turbo of some sort in the near future as the performance of the car is pretty crap for a 2 litre engine........ has anyone ever seen this done before to a standard glx engine?

Can anyone tell me the Purflux oil filter number for a Peugeot 205xs with the TU3S engine?
Cheers,
Antony

my m8 has a problem with his clutch pedal or cable when he is driving the pedal slowly gets lower every time he uses it until it becomes difficult to change gear then he has to pull the pedal up and it will be ok for a little while until it gets lower again what is causing this and how does he fix it
the car is an x reg peugeot 406 hdi

The air bleed point at the top of the radiator is leaking slightly. It is one of those black plastic plugs which turns about half a turn anticlockise then stops. Is it possible to remove the plug and replace the seal? Are spares available?
Also I have had problems with the bleed point on the thermostat housing leaking. It looks just like a tyre...

Hi,
Got a 405 1.8 TD (pre-facelift). The heater and air con seem to work OK apart from a couple of niggling issues and I thought I'd ask you lot if there were a case of *they all do that sir* or whether they were really *little niggles* ...!
a) the heater temp. control seems to go from hot to cold, or vice versa, with just single click of the...

Im going to do a servie on my Phase2 D-Turbo 306. So far the list of things im going to replace/change are
1 Oil and filter (what brand oil?)
2 Airfilter
3 Fuel Filter
And that is it, im sure there should be more to change but I cant think what??
Glow plugs are in good order.
Is there a pollen filter?
GFS car parts good for parts?
I will be...

I have fitted a Weber 38DAS to my 205xs. On full throttle it absolutely flies, but on part throttle there is a horrid flatspot and hesitancy.
I have replaced just about everything on the carb, to no avail. Some people are starting to tell me that the carb is simply too big for the engine and that will result in the flatspot.
Has anyone else heard...

I have a 1993 405 1.6 injection which is misbehaving. After driving through a deep puddle this winter I had misfiring problems which the recovery people finally fixed by squirting around a good bit of WD40 and replacing the spark plugs.
Ever since, the engine idles very high (almost 2000 rpm when cold and slowing to about 1200 rpm when hot). The...

Can anyone help. Peugeot 106 1.1 engine Marelli G6 ecu with Weber/Marelli throttle body. The idle rpm can be high but the car tends to stall when you attempt to move off. When travelling at approx 40 mph in 4th gear and you accelerate the engine hesitates as if starved of petrol then accelerates. Is this a common problem with a common fix?
Does...

Hi,
Hope someone can give me some ideas.
Got a Rover 218, with the Peugeot XUD engine in it.
Had the car in bits this weekend to change cambelt and crankshaft oil seal. Had to drain the cooling system in the process too. Followed the Haynes instructions completely.
After putting it back together again, ran fine on drive for 5 minutes, went for...

Hi,
I have a 406 exe est w reg
I changed the lcd panel for the traffic assist / radio / fuel computer as it was cracked, now the CD changer refuses to work, when the button is pushed on the head unit nothing happens. If i put back in the old lcd panel all is fine.
Are there different lcd panels? can`t see why this should stop the cd working

Hi,
Does anyone know if a back box from an L reg phase 1 306 XND will fit an R reg phase 2 306 Dturbo?
Cheers.

This morning I jumped in my new D-turbo (only had it since wednesday) switched the ignition on, radio came on, waited for the glow plug light to go out, turned the key, the engine tryed to turn over for half a second then nothing.
So I thinks ah battery must be flat, get the jump leads out connect it up to my other car and nothing, no lights on...

hi my mate has a 406 hdi and while driving it today the gear selector popped off he managed to pop it back on
what would have made it pop off and is there any way to stop it happening again

Advice needed please,
My fuel gauge has slowly crept up to read full during the trip to work this morning even though I know there's only half a tank of petrol in there, and the engine management light came on twice during the trip, at work I opened the petrol cap and there was quite a vacuum had built up in the tank,
Anyone recognise these...

Hi,
I have a phase 2 306 DTurbo. Recently I have noticed slight coolant loss - (the low coolant light briefly came on before I topped up).
On examining the radiator, I noticed a patch of white/blue deposits - does this signal a leak?
I'm hoping its not HG. Theres no sludge in the coolant or mayo in the oil filler..
Cheers,
Raz.

Without snipping any wires is there a way to temporarily turn off the central locking on my 306.
It has taken to locking and unlocking as you drive down the road.
I have found an autoelectrical guy who is willing to take a look but in the mean time can I pull out a fuse or disconnect a plug somewhere and just go manual for a while.

UPDATE
Many thanks to all for the comments. I forked out £65 for a complete alignment.
The Toe was way out on the rear wheels. The spec is 0deg10 to 0deg20 and one was -0deg32 the other -0deg35.
There is an adjustment for toe which which the tyre specialists discovered when they were doing the job.
Thanks again to everyone.
Hi,
Can anyone help...

may fan belt is screaming - before i start and make a mess of it - can i just tension it by tightening on the alternator or is there tensioning pulleys etc to worry about ?

Hi all, I have a intermitant problem. When the car has stood at a junction or traffic lights as I pull away it emits a lot of blue smoke from the exhaust. This quickly clears. During tickover I get no smoke nor does it smoke during driving. If I let it tickover for 30 seconds and give it a gentle blip on the throttle it smokes like hell. I have...

Due to clutch problems on my other pug, i made the mistake of buying a 1995 405GTX (airbag)that has problems with the alarm, central locking and immobiliser, the car was dirt cheap and i thought the problems would be easy to fix until i read that some of you guys are also having fun with the above.
I'll try and give as many details as possible and...

ever since ive had my 306, the central locking in the boot has been playing up, some times it works, other times it does nothing, (kind of defeats the point in remote locking if you have to check the boot all the time). anyway, now the nice weather is here, i feel like working on the car, just like to know all the places and things to look for...
