Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi, I've a new foam on the way for Fiat Ulysse (C8 Pug 807 in disguise) as the old driver's side one is saggy. It's only the seat squab, not the backrest. I'm assuming that the foam is glued (or sprayed) onto the sear cloth. Has anyone any experience of doing this? TIA!

How practical is it to find a new Drivers Seat in a foreign breakers yard (which would be the front passenger seat in a LHD car) while I'm away?

Does anyone know about the existence or not of Breakers yards in Netherlands and NW Germany partic, do they have an equivalent type thing? I've got a trip away planned to Koln via Hook of Harwich

Hello FCF,

Over the past couple of week I have cherry picked the slightly better weather days to get my gearbox off the car to have the grinding noise rectified, so off it went to Bradford, via courier to be repaired. :-D

Gearbox arrived back Friday of last week so I put it on the car but as i failed to stop the clutch piston extending fully...

so there is play in the passenger side rear shock absorber, what would my options be here.
replacement or could i change the bush granted the dampers are fine. i assume if changing the bushes they would need to be pressed in adding to the cost and that a new shock absorber would be just as convenient price wise.

I've noticed my fuel gauge has gone funny on my 306 hdi. I've done about 80miles with the light on now. Also one min it goes up then back down. I wanted to have a look also test the float to see if the dial changes etc.

I've checked the wiring going in to the fuel sender it looks fine.

my belt has had a squeal for quite some time so the time has come to fix it before the mot work starts. im looking into ordering a tensioner and new belt and maybe leaving the idlers till after the summer if thats safe to do.

could someone please tell me what size spanner/allens i need for the job please.

(Malcolm will know what I mean by this) its a shame that non A/C ones did not keep the MK1 306 setup with the simple lollypop type tensioner with only one belt (the K0 belt fitted them all!) which very rarely gave any trouble at all. If I had a 306 I'd look into this personally.

It could be retro fitted to later XUD's but it was a bit of a pain...

I've noticed a squeeking recently after a cold start, rlated to engine speed, and wonder if it is coming from one/both of the auxilliary belt tensioners. I replaced all of the cam belt bits this time last year but not the aux belt bits.

It looks like there are two parts - the upper spring loaded tensioner and a lower eccentric tensioner/roller....

I am having a real problem with this car, just recently it has started cutting out whilst driving, pulled to side of road tried to start it and no problem drive off ok for a couple of miles then it does it again. Changed air and fuel filters had new glow plugs fitted, had guy out with diagnostic kit found nothing. The car has been recovered twice...

I think fuel pickup initially.

If it still does it, unplug the vac hose from the EGR valve on the air intake and plug it (the loose end on the pipe) with something suitable that will not be sucked into the vacuum pipe. If the valve is shut that will keep it shut. Leave the electrical connector intact.

Most breakers will have axles removed already. The best way to check it is with the shocks removed,then you can feel if the radius arms are nice and springy.
Also look carefully around the oil seal where the radius arm enters the cross tube for tell tale red dust .That is a sign of the bearings dry and braking up.

It never rains but it pours.....

Car had head swap approximately 2,000 miles ago. At the time I did notice a lot of oil around the turbo:

Cleaned it all up, check for play in the bearings, seemed fine. I refitted it and checked it 1,500 miles later and found that the oil feed pipe was leaking. Looking on Servicebox, I saw that it should have...

Oil in the air pipes is quite normal as the engine breather system is connected to the air intake. Turbo problems are normally indicated by blue smoke from the exhaust as oil leaks past the seals, but if there is no play in the bearings I wouldn't think that would be the case.

In common with many others my satnav display has become unreadable at some temperatures and at best has lines missing, I did read somewhere that you can replace it with a non satnav one from late car but it doesn't have the same definition, I don't use the satnav anyway so it doesn't matter. Can anyone confirm or otherwise this rumour?

we jacked it up yesterday to attempt to top it up,
on removing the undershield we could see the fluid level through the tank was over half full,

I've just cleared a bunch of faults from the 307 (instrument cluster multiplex, lots of comms errors across several areas, intermittent fuel cap issues) and then tried to take a look in the engine ecu. On an 01 306 2.0hdi

It only had just under a ltr in it for ages but I didn't know, it was only when I got new gearbox seals and draining the oil that's what came out. Now as said despite new stuff and the full amount, it's still crunchy and notchy, has the box maybe been damaged from driving for dam near 3 years like that.....I don't drive hard...

Hi I really hope some one can help me out here as I have not had my car running for 3 weeks now . I had an injector go down and replaced this cleared all codes with planet and car ran sounded fine. Untill I reversed of the drive put it into first and it stalled restarted this happend 3 times and now wont start at all. Back on planet and it says no...

Maybe you have a fuel feed problem, pump not working or just dirt in the fuel line. Check all the filters and make sure the fuel pump works. Hope this helps

I suspect that the problem is the clutch, because the engine runnes but when I put the first gear the car does not function.

what happens if you put it into other gears 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or reverse,

if it feels like it is going into gear but nothing happens it could be the diff has failed

Hello I've just had my car fully serviced recently also new anti freeze as well. The radiator been fine the water level also engine oil the same as well. But recently the radiator water a tiny bit foamy or frothy. But that cleared up now in to black sludgy stuff in there. You put your finger in there its oil for sure the only thing it can be....

This sort of job all depends on the condition of the car, milage and how its been looked after etc.

If the car a mess or things wrong with it and big milage you wouldn't bother etc.

Hi all,
We recently bought a pug partner 2.0hdi, which i say im most impressed with for what we paid,

I've seen something that caught my eye, the rear n/s wheel is pointing outwards at the top, what could be the cause?

Could be an optical illusion. Stand it on a perfectly flat surface and check both wheels with a spirit level. If it really is leaning you have a suspension problem.

Was the old instrument panel showing 000000 as well ?

You cannot (easily!) reprogram the miles from the BSi it would need a panel and a BSi from the same car (possibly ECU as well) then you run into the realms of having to have the keys and transponder etc

On the 306 pump its not a linear advance unit, the advance is an on / off device only used for cold running and starting, the advance in the pump while running / accelerating / decelerating is controlled mechanically. I think the advance just pushes it about 2 or 4 degrees not sure.

Its the whole pulley I'm afraid. The rubber part is not available on its own as far as I'm aware.

Has it done the usual of separating ?

Some 307 HDi pulleys are solid, not rubber centred, if that's any help. Although not official I've seen several 306 HDi's (yes I know you have a 206) fitted with a 307 solid pulley, with apparently no bad...

Hello,
I noticed that I lost the bolt that connects the airbox to the engine body, the one in the center that has a rubber ring.
The rubber ring is still there but the bolt is gone.
Could it cause problems (do i need to replace it)?

Hi Guys, i have a 406 hdi 2000 and the air con is playing up. the car was parked up for three months and now it has this fault. The air con sometimes works but not very often. Most of the time there is nothing. Usually with air conditioning i would assume a re-gas it the solution but because issue this comes and goes i'm not at all sure where to...

Evening peugeot peeps! just a quicky, or a couple of quickies!!
are the rear doors on a 406 estate and saloon the same?? one of the mums has a bit of a gouge in her drivers rear (courtesy of her husband!), ive told her in real terms its not overly worth worrying about, touch up pen and remove the harshness of the scratches and a replacement door...

What do you think - is it worth getting a clutch kit and putting it into my 165K '99 306 ? Will the flywheel take another clutch, or is it likely to be too worn/scored ?

The clutch has started to drag a bit, making it difficult to get out of gear when the engine is stopped. It still does disengage well enough to not grind, but is on the way out I...

It's a std push clutch, Andy, so no need to remove the release arm to get it off - but if you want to change the nylon bushes and input shaft seal, you need to remove the release arm, and the pin is often not for coming out :roll:

Hi everyone i have had some problems with my car, first i blew it up and it wouldnt start so i narrowed it down to what i thought was the wiring loom, i changed that to find out it wasnt the problem.

i then put an open ecu in to bypass immobiliser and the car fired up but wont rev past 2500rpm.

Hello Folks,

My 206 1.4 hdi 2004 gearbox has finally got far too loud to drive, I have had it suggested to clarify the gearbox code.

I have found 20CP98 and 0603540 stamped on the gearbox and i think its an MA gearbox.

is the 20CP98 the gearbox code?

I just (in my personal opinion nothing more) think the RFL band should not be the be all and end all of it as parts for the 2.0 are a bit easier to find with it being fitted to more models really and it appears slightly easier to service (component location)

I think its just the way my mind works, I tend to look at things like this as personally...

I noticed from diagbox that I have a fault, defined as local, on the oil gauge..
I was unable to clear it, if I try to I get a page in french telling that I have first to read other faults on the engine and so on..
I do not have other faults to read!
The oil gauge seems working, I can see oil ok in fact, last week it told me oil...

Hi everybody, gotta bit of a problem with my uncles van. The turbo has gone due to oil starvation so I've replaced the cartridge assembly, only thing is the oil feed pipe is clear (removed banjo filter) in that I can blow easily down it with a finger over one side. I have removed the gauze filter from the pick up pipe in the sump and all is well...
