Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hello, I have an 2003 406s 1.9 90bhp 160 000K. I have been thinking about my timing belt and when to replace it..I inspected it and saw it had a slight cut. Hi,

Looking for someone to help with a list of possible causes for my brother's sick 207 GTI. Its a 2008 model with the 1.6 THP 175 engine.

Last week it was running with a lumpy idle and plugging in a diagnostic gave two error codes:

P1385

Doing some research, this seems to be indicating carbon deposit or a timing issue.

Note to self - when you think a hand brake cable needs replacing because it's likely to freeze up, then replace the damn thing. Otherwise you find yourself in the drive at 7am and -4°C with your head torch on thawing out the cable with a hairdryer so you can go to work :lol: :roll:

Job done; it's not that hard once you realise the joint between the cable and the tube is at the back of the fuel tank, not right under the car. Obviously this is only after you have drifted the end of the tube out of the car above the exhaust, and are then fighting with it wondering how the hell you are going to get the old cable out that appears...

Hi all, not been able to check in for a while as we've been non-stop lately but the petrol 206 is now most likely a small box making it's way to China to become a fridge or washing machine. The decision was made mainly based on the mileage and the tax cost Vs. the little HDi's £30 a year so we've kept the best of the bits, window regulators/white...

Found the Relay, it hides under the throttle quadrant on the 406 :) appears to function fine according to multimeter (bit of a squeeze, easier if I'd unbolted a couple of bits lol)

Good point Jim, you did mention about the leakoff pipes previously and I totally forgot. Does seem OK since tightening the loose clip the other day but a proper check...

Does anyone have any idea of how to connect the airbag to the required wires under the passenger seat on an 05 plate Peugeot 307cc, 2.0 petrol, manual..

I'm a bit at a loss for words why anyone would just almost chop the entire lot off, wrap it all up with leccy tape and hope that spraying WD40 on them that a fault would go away..

This happened irregularly on longer trips when engine was nice and warm, now its permanent.

Engine ticks over and sticks at 1300 rpm until you touch the brake pedal, it then drops to the normal 800 rpm, until you release the brake pedal.

Dean does not have anything yet I have found rocking horse s**t on the net but no flipping matrix.
I bought my 305 in May this year knowing the matrix had been bypassed. I'm guessing because of a leak. So my fault it's not been sorted yet.

I concur. Is the problem fitting the shaft into the diff housing or is the problem the shaft itself will not move through the bearing housing ?

I'd suspect the latter (may need to clean the housing a little if the bolts are not in the way) the former is quite rare I think for the pinions to move out of mesh and jam. Not impossible but not common.

Anyone any idea on what could be causing excessive blow-by in the exhaust cam box? There's no vent in the exhaust cam box, there's a vent in the inlet cam box that is connected to the intake but there's not much blow-by at all at that breather. Problem seems to be at the exhaust cam box. Could it be bad exhaust valve seals

I damaged the rear ABS Sensor Rings whilst trying to clean them as I was getting a fault code. I removed the little raised segments and now my speedometer does not work!

Hello all, I'm now wizzing about in a '06 206 verve 1.4 8v jobbie, I bought from a dealer. I'm still going through all the minor faults and got stumped with the remote central locking thing. The dealer might have replaced the key fob circuit board, I was told the central locking doesn't work on the fob but does with the key. I am ok with that....

It is essential that this - and the correct amount of dead/loose travel - is correct, or these is a danger of clutch slip, or undue stress on the cable and clutch mechanism.

Suffering from an annoying hesitation from standstill, does anyone think it could be the EGR valve?
Car has only done 15k but its becoming a proper pain and dangerous at times when entering roundabouts, junctions etc...

Now this is strange...

For a while now, when I put it in reverse, the warning light on the rear fog switch comes on dimly. Didn't think much of it, but today it took a further turn.

Weather's turned wet, so I needed the Heated Rear Window: I put it on and nothing, even though the light (also on the switch itself) illuminates as it should....

Got a slight knock on the rear suspension. Can't be many things, as it's pretty simple! Damper bottom bush or trailing arm bush is about it really. Bush cheaper but more work to change.... any ideas which is the more likely candidate?

First one was no good - the design of the mount has changed. Eventually turned up the right one at the breakers, back together, and its much quieter. The top of the mount has just dissolved, allowing the bush to pop out. There is a slight knocking from the NS which suggests the top mount there is also suspect.... Need to see about getting a new...

Hi my gti seems to have developed a knocking noise at first it thought it must be chain related but after letting my uncle listen to it he insists it isn't chain related and must be something else like pistons or something he says the noise isn't what he would usually expect to hear from a Chain that needs replacing as he repairs chains regularly...

Knowing what I now know about these engines, a 2007 at 50k could well need a chain.

Ours is a 2007 that needed a chain badly at 60k.

If you take the rocker cover off you'll be able to see the chain and with a long screwdriver you'll be able to see if there's any slack in it.

I'm in the process of choosing a cheap Dash Cam to purchase for the sake of my protection and especially that of my No Claims Bonus, but I note that they all seem to be powered from the Cigar Lighter.

I can see the convenience of this but I don't want to tie up my Lighter socket when I've got other uses for it; and invariably forget to plug it...

Last time I did one a Peugeot Dealer mechanic friend gave me the Peugeot special tool that cleans the head where the washer sits making it perfectly flat.
Thats the key to doing this job. If the seat in the cylinder head is not perfectly clean & flat when you replace the washers it doesent normally take long for them to leak again.

Hi Gents, picked up a very cheap 2003 2.0 hdi auto pug. The chap I bought it from said there were some gearbox issues. I've done two flushes of the box to spec. The car drives ok. I took it on the motorway and at 70 it's revving at 3000/3200 rpm which seems high. Ocassionally the gear changes seem erratic.
Help needed.

Best to have it checked on Diagbox (rather than a generic code reader) to determine what is going on.

A bit of a favourite is a faulty or incorrectly adjusted selector switch (its on the gearbox shaft itself on the box) as that can cause odd 'issues'

I've fitted a powerflex lower engine mount to my 206 hid today because the engine would rock on and off throttle quite badly, it seems to have cured this doc happy days
The only problem now is that the car vibrates quite badly at idle..
Will this get less as it wear a bit?

I have a 306 1.4 petrol (KFX) with the engine block fissured. I have a spare KFZ engine from a 106 XSi 1.4 with catalyst (1993). The KFX is aluminium with liners and the KFX is cast iron.

I am just doing some mot repairs for a friend on there 106, It failed on Nearside rear brake recording little or no effort.
I have had the drum off and checked the worst i can find is the wheel cylinder is just starting to leak, I would nt have thought that would cause a fail ? I do mean just starting to leak, there is nothing on the shoes etc...

Just been to Peugeot main dealer for antifreeze to top up. Told I have red and should have blue . Told red is too alkaline for aluminium radiators and to change asap. Car dealer serviced by either Peugeot or Vauxhall full stamps before I bought it. What colour is your antifreeze please and thoughts?

Hi i own a Peugeot 207 1.4 16v 89k miles, i have only owned it 2 months. I am getting a rattle/noise when i change gear and then begin accelerating again. I dont think its directly related to changing gear because it does it if you just accelerate from low revs. How i would describe it is a kind of metallic rattle. I can hear it with the window...

Just pressed one of these into service as a daily. Got it for nothing, only owes me £120 so far to put it on the road!

Couple of questions though:

Firstly, how hot are they supposed to run? It'll get to 90deg C in traffic and stationary no problem, fan cuts in and out etc., but on the move it cools down to around 75deg C - no where near halfway...

Good afternoon all, I am charged with repairing an 03 2.0 HDI head gasket, I am familiar enough with most of the job but the engine appears to be under the dashboard on this model, does the head come off normally on these, presumably the turbo and manifolds remain in situ? any tips appreciated. Hey guys,

My 206 has a gearbox issue. My mechanic said he would replace the box for me for £150 if I can source a gearbox.

Can someone recommend a reputable website/place to buy 206 gearboxes? But out of my depth here.

I know there are two types of gearbox, cable and hydraulic. I take it hydraulic is better?? Btw, my Peugeot is an '02 reg....

Not too relevant but as far as I can determine (and remember!) only RHD ones *may* have hydraulic operated clutches and these *only* with larger engines.

Simply put: All LHD and 1.1 / 1.4 / 1.6 petrol RHD engines are all cable. 1.8/1.9/2.0 RHD may be hydraulic, more likely on diesel units.
