Hello.
I've got a Partner van that shut down while I was driving a couple days ago. I had driven 2km and all was well. Then, the engine died; there were no warning lights, just shut down. I put on the hazards and waited about 30 seconds and turned the key - it started immediately and i drove the rest of the journey approx 2km.
EDIT! [I started it today and it started without issue but it did sound a bit heavy
Later the same day it started a bit rougher than the first time and while idling,it shut down again.
This time, i noticed that it surged at idle to about 1100 rpms, dipped to about 950 a couple times and then died.
Same again, i waited about a minute, started it again and it idled at 1050 rpms or thereabout. I wasn't driving this time though.
I noticed the rpms dropped to about 950 and it remained started at idle under no load.
It's just had a "75 point inspection/service" and I'm not impressed.
During this service, the fuel filter was changed. Fuel leak was "addressed". Only other thing is that the odometer isn't visible (no back lamp in this model - have to change the entire instrument cluster for the sake of that one bulb; all warning lights work).
Any ideas of a common issue that might be the problem? This van has approx 170 000 km on it.

Were these issues there before the service?

There was a starting issue (only after i checked the fuel filter) - when it went in for service, the mechanic changed glow plugs and stated there was a fuel leak somewhere. I did not press for details in this instance at the time.

It needs proper diagnostics before we can realistically help. There should be fault codes logged for engine issues. Once you have those, post them up along with the VIN so we can relate them directly to the correct engine ECU.
