Over a month ago, I replaced the thermostat and coolant on my Xantia 1.9TD.
On Tuesday, after a particularly cold night, I noticed a mark on the driveway. Got in the car, and drove to work.
On my way to work ( about 20 mins into the journey ), I noticed the car wasn't warming up particularly well.
Heater Matrix, I though . Anyway, got to work, and...

Hi
I have a 97 1.9 TDLX Xantia Which recently has had all but the anti sink sphere changed (+ new LMH fluid) at my local Citroen garage. whilst the brakes will stop the car (and lock up) the pedal feels vague i.e. you have to apply more pressure than before to apply the brakes. The brake valve also makes a hissing noise when released.
Any...

well ive done it ........the heater matrix is replaced and working wonderfully well, but if it goes again i think ill sell the car wat a nightmare....

The heated rear window on my sons ZX will not come on when the switch is pushed. The switch fails to light up but a click can be heard when pushed. The connectors to the rear screen appear to be intact as is the screen but a meter is not showing any voltage being applied on the connectors. The fuses have been tested and seem good.

My timing belt tensioner has finally failed on my 2.0 16v 155 hp Xantia. However I have run into some problems which, given its a Citroen, doesn't surprise me. I have got a new tensioner from a Peugeot garage but it doesnt look nothing like the old one, even though on the computer it says its the right one. So I bought it.
It has the same...

whilst trying to jump start my td estate the rev counter fliped right off the scale and has now stuck i have tried tapping it but have had no luck. can anyone tell me how to remove the cluster as i also have a bulb to replace.
thanks in anticipation

Hi all,
All of a sudden, in the last few days, my '95 306 DT has been making creaking/metallic cracking noises randomly from the rear suspension. It doesnt seem to happen over bumps, or cornering, but it can be provoked by bouncing the rear suspension. Any ideas? The wheels are straight (eg not inclined in at the top) and it has 85k on it. I cant...

Strange events with my 1996 Xantia 2.0i. Over the space of a few months I experienced what seemed to be unrelated electrical faults:
1) Chattering blinker relay - infuriating inside the car but blinker lamps not affected. Does it for a week at a time, then gives me a break for a while. Replacing the blinker switch made no difference.
2) About once...

When My BX estate is heavily laden, it rides like a magic carpet. When empty, it is a pogo stick. Has anybody any clues as to what may be wrong? The front struts are tired but supple on the road and the rear does not sink quickly.

Hi,
I have a 93 (L) Xantia 1.9TD VSX which seems to be a thief's dream!
When I lock it (either with the 'plip' or the key), the central locking locks the car, then often immediately unlocks it again.
The first time it happened, I thought that maybe a door wasn't shut properly but they all were (and the tailgate etc.)
It seems to be temperature...

Having replaced my standard ZX radio with a 4 speaker radio, I was wondering if Citroen had been kind enough to put in the wiring for the rear speakers, despite them being absent on my '93 1.9D. I know I could take the trim off and look myself, but if someone's already done it, it would save some hassle.
PS the Citroen Dealer Radfio Fascia adapter...

HAS ANYONE USED THIS PRODUCT WHICH CLAIMS TO DECOKE AN ENGINE. IS IT SAFE TO USE. AND CAN ANYONE SAY THAT IT HAS MADE A WORTHWHILE DIFFERENCE TO THERE ENGINE.
IN MY CASE I HAVE 1995 CITROEN ZX 1.4I WITH 74000 MILES AND PINKS WHEN UNDER LOAD. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN CURE THE PINKING TROUBLE WITH MY ENGINE. IT DOESNT HAVE A KNOCK SENSOR.

93 xantia 1.9 td 110000 miles poor start up first thing in morning then ok rest of day suspect air leak replaced all pipes but when pumping primer it never goes solid does anyone know if the valve at the bottom of the fuel filter housing is a one way valve and it could be draining back to tank any suggestions welcome because its driving me...

Is there any reason why the lowered spring sets listed in the 'GSF catalogue' for the Pug 306 cannot be fitted to the ZX, as there are none listed for it.

Having read several other Forum questions, it is plain to see that there are some bright sparks out there when it comes to the mysteries of the Citroen Suspension system... So here goes:
I have a 1996 Xantia Activa Turbo.
In the mornings I will find my car still up... i.e. the Anti Sink sphere is obviously functioning OK
On switching on I have to...

9 months ago a brand new cylinder head was fitted to my 2.5td and i've had no problems until recently when i noticed pressure leaking from the header tank.i fitted a new cap -same result.on tickover some large air bubbles are appearing and i am now losing some water .temperature seems to be normal during daily running.please someone give me an...

Dumb question, but I've only had the car for one month ~ please make allowances:
What exactly is the RP number, and where it is located?
Is it with the vin plates??
Thanks,
Simon.

I am one stage behind Pete Woods with regard to starting of the diesel engine, which is poor when cold in my case. I feel the urge to replace the glow plugs to restore efficient starting, but cannot for the life of me see an easy way to do it. Diesel pumps and fixed pipes appear to obstruct the ease of removal of these small items. Am I being...

I have recently had to remove the cylinder head after an inlet valve decided to kiss the piston! Has anyone any knowledge about re-assembling the head. I believe some head bolts have 'O' rings at their bases, am I right in assuming that one of these bolts does not have an 'O' ring thereby allowing oil to be fed to the rockers? Also I am having...

Anybody hear about a class action that's apparently been taken against PSA in France after several 1.9td engines prematurely died?
I have a friend who lives over there and she said that there was something about it on the TV news regarding engines manufactured 96, 97 & 98. I've had a look on the web but can't find any reference....

Last week my wife kerbed the car (at some speed) 95 TD. Now we have what sounds like a noisy front wheel bearing (may or may not be connected!). Anybody come across this before, or any thoughts on what else could possibly make this type of noise (I've checked the obvious - nothing touching anywhere etc. Noise is continuous, although not really...

My 2.0 litre 16 valve 1997 Xantia suffers occasional ABS warning light showing. I understand this is likely to be due to one of the wheel sensors or the wiring close to them. I would like to start by checking the resistance from the ABS ECU socket. Does anybody know the relevant socket pin numbers?

My saga with hard suspension continues!!!!
Yesterday I replaced the accumulator sphere. Easy job and it's stopped the pump clicking every few seconds. It didn't cure the hard ride though so I thought I would give the suspension a workout to see if my hard ride was caused by air in the system. What I did notice was that when I lowered the car from...

I need help with my 96 Xantia. The story so far: It's done about 100,000 & is in very good condition. The previous owner sold it because of the starting problem. On the first cold start of the day it takes anything from 30secs to a minute to start. while it's trying you get a light mist of white smoke from the exhaust & a cloud of white when it...

I have a M reg 1.9TD Xantia which is bugging me severly.
From cold the brakes are fine.
After a mile or so when I depress the pedal I get brake judder through the steering wheel.
When I purchased the car Oct 2002 with 105,000 there was a history of brake judder. Service history sheets (not Citroen garage) showed front discs and pads changed about...

I have a 1997 xantia activa 2.0 8v turbo that has done 149000 miles. The engine seems to be in a reasonably healthy state and goes very well, but I do have an annoying pinking problem. I have tried DX injector cleaner in the tank and driven hard but it still persists. As these cars are totally computer controlled and I cannot adjust anything, does...

Can anyone help, i am installing a remote central locking alarm and need to know about how standard central locking works e.g + positive or - negative pulse system, or single point system with additional wire motor

evening, i need some advice on my Citroen ax, i would be very grateful if some one could help me....

Please can anyone help me?I have a problem with my BX's heated rear window. It stopped working about a week ago, there are two connectors, one on either side of the top of the hrw,the left one is live, tested it with a 12v tester and all the elements are live, although it's still not de-misting.However,when the right hand connector is connected,all...

Ok, so I have forgiven the BX. It has convalesced enough to be taken back home to France where it delivered a good half ton of household effects Laden, the ride is even better than Dad's (Mum's!)E-class Merc. according to my travelling companion. She was asleep in about 5 minutes, a new record. Yes, it is the comfiest car I have ever driven, at...

morning all ,
have just noticed this problem,, prehaps someone can shed a bit of light on it.
i have noticed some lhm leaking from around the seal on the top of the resevoir,
all the pipes look ok, none are split
the rubber sealing ring was replaced late last year,
the resevoir lid is held firmly in place,
what else could be casuing this leak?...

I am seeking information on the activa. In particular the 2.0L turbocharged petrol. I am looking at purchasing one which has just clocked 100,000 on a P-1996. It is is excellent condition and cost a £1000 which seems quite reasonable to me. I know the xantia well but not this variant and haynes doesn't speak of it.
Can anyone tell me:
Is the 2.0...

Bought a Xantia LX TD 130K in Novemeber ran fine until a week ago when on the M40 temp through the roof all of a sudden, stop light on. I limped off to a garage keeping temp down to 90 let it cool down and filled it with water, bubbles in the tank. Managed to get the car the 80 mile back home keeping speed down. Its running on 3 so fairly obvious...

The Forum was hacked over the weekend of 8th February, and the friendly hacker very kindly removed every Forum and every post, and replaced them with some message to visit his website in Turkey.
Luckily, we had made a backup of the whole Forum on the evening of Friday 7th February.
Therefore, when the Forum was finally restored last night, the...

What has happened to the postings between 07/02/03 and 17/02/03?
I had a problem with my BX clutch cable coming adrift at the pedal end, on the 9th but it has gorn walkabout.

Have just had a replacement engine put in and since then the reversing light does not work. Can anybody tell me where the wires are from the gearbox. If need be I will return to the garage to get them to fix it, but if it is a simple fix I will do it myself.

Hi there,
The scuttle panel on my 94 Xantia has started to come away from the
windscreen at both ends. I can get my finger under it in places. I'm also
getting a trickle off water coming into the passenger side footwell, so I
figure the two are related.
I'm going to try and seal it this weekend - does anyone have any tips on how
best to acheive...

Welcome back everybody,
have a problem where LHM fluid is leaking from one of the fluid lines leaving the pump, not the line connection but where the brass insert is connected to the pump, when the pump clicks I can see a pulse of LHM fluid raising around the brass insert to the pump.
Im wondering if this insert can be un-screwed from the pump...

I am still having problems with my Xantia rear suspension. (1.9TD 97)
As stated I fitted new spheres, (4x suspension plus anti-sink) + LHM change including filter cleaning.
My car bounces nicely when at rest but is bumpy when on the road. I was wondering if it could be caused by an air lock in the suspension system or the accumulator sphere.
The...

In my Xantia 2.0i 8v, the coolant hose from the heater matrix has developed a big split, right where it joins with the side of the theromostat housing.
Talking to my citroen dealer today, it seems that the hose can only be supplied in one complete piece, from the theromostat housing, including the bleed screw, the heater matrix double connector,...

Hi everyone
My Zx suffers from the old, speedo wobble syndrome, only last night things seem to get allot worse . I drove out of town and everything seemed normal, but while I was on the A50, I noticed my a scraping noise coming from my dashboard(centre area), and my speedo began to behave highly erratically. At times it would vary beentween 80 and...

Hello Folks,
The 2,5 went to a local Cit specialist (Dave Stott - Middlesbrough)
He replaced accumulator and one centre sphere and LHM (66K). Fronts have
20K on them
The car now bounces violently over speedbumps. Mainly the front, but the back appears to do it in sympathy.
Yes, it's going back to him. And he drives an XM so should have some idea....

Does anyone else with an XM V6 24v have a misfire under about half-throttle acceleration around 2750 - 3250rpm?
Mine's done this since I got it. I've changed the spark plugs (including the 3 under the inlet manifold), checked the air filter, fuel filter and all hose connections, tried disconnecting the battery overnight so the ECU returns to...

I discover there is some leak at the fuel pump but I don't know the exact location of the leak as those fuel hose blocking my view. The strange thing is that it stop leaking when the engine is hot. When I cool it down, it leak again.
Any clue?

Ive noticed over the last 3/4 months diesel/exhaust fumes inside the car, especialy when standing still. Also fumes from cars in front. Not exactly sure what to check, may start with exhaust.
Any suggestions.....
