Turbo Diesel ZX Speedo Fault

Post by AthlonZX »

Hi everyone
My Zx suffers from the old, speedo wobble syndrome, only last night things seem to get allot worse . I drove out of town and everything seemed normal, but while I was on the A50, I noticed my a scraping noise coming from my dashboard(centre area), and my speedo began to behave highly erratically. At times it would vary beentween 80 and 60mph (I was doing 70mph).
At slow speeds the wobble is far worse than before, infact it now reads 10mph when my car is stationary! At 30mph I cant tell if I'm doing 25 or 35 mph ...all the time making a horrid scraping/scratching noise.
I've given the under bonnet section of the speedo cable a breif "wiggle" to see if anything was catching against it, and everything seems to be fine. How difficult is it to remove the cable? (I have a well equipped toolset...and a decent citroen specialist back at home if needed). Do I have to replace both sections? Is there a fix available for the wobbling speedo.

Thanks to any suggestions anyone can offer
Cheers
