Xantia: Diesel/Exhaust Fumes inside car

Post by wingrattg »

Ive noticed over the last 3/4 months diesel/exhaust fumes inside the car, especialy when standing still. Also fumes from cars in front. Not exactly sure what to check, may start with exhaust.
Any suggestions.....<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Obviously a periodical check for leaks is a good idea but I do wonder if your bonnet is sealinc correctly at the back I assume that the Xantia has its heater intake immediately ahead of the windscreen and rather than having a separate grill like a BX it is under the trailing edge of the bonnet. If this is the case the rear seal is important especially if your engine is not spotless.
Clean your engine and you'll get some really interesting smells!

I have had the exhaust checked for leaks and can find none. Te only difference in the system is that the rear box was not available at the time so a standard one was put on. This has he outlet pointing down and not out to the side. Am wondering if the fumes are being fed under the car etc.....
