I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

I'm about to experiment with a cheap repair solution to the aluminium suspension cylinder corrosion problem... even cheaper than buying a second hand one!!
I'm going to file off the rim of the cylinder, which succumbs to the corrosion, salt I guess, and replace it with a dowty washer.
This washer has a bonded membrane to replace the rubber seal...

Hi guys

Im hoping u can help as my mechanic can not seem to find the problem.....and this may not be his fault. So here is the problem
Sometimes when I press my brake pedal it seems to be a bit harder than other times and I seem to loose a bit of brake pressure. That is I have to press the pedal a bit harder to stop the car.

Low oil level.

After a brisk 500+ miles earlier this week, the low oil warning and the service warning came on the following morning. I topped up the oil but the warning to check oil level and the service warning still come on when I start the engine. The oil level warning disappears but the service warning stays on. Any way of getting rid of these warnings...

Mine was definitely showing low on the dipstick. After topping up, the incorrect oil level and service warnings disappeared after a few engine starts. I'll mention the oil pump when I get it serviced, but the oil pump is also covered by my three year warranty so if it goes and takes anything with it, according to the small print, it's all covered.

On a few occasions when unlocking the car the drivers door remains locked, a few presses of lock/unlock usually gets it to open or have to open from the inside. Get to my destination and all working.

Can be fine for week and then play up several times a week,
is this a common fault?
is a new lock needed?
does lock need some WD40?

It will have no effect on your MOT emissions output they only measure smoke opacity really. If it was worse then you have something amiss.

I'd suggest leaving the electrical connectors alone (can store a silent fault on some models, K light should not come on anyway but fault will be stored probably Permanent fault EGR electrovalve is open...

I have a tail light bulb out (5W one built into the boot lid). I can't get the electrical connector block off. Is there a technique to it? I'm sure it click into place but can't seem to find the latch points. I need to disconnect that before I remove the bulb housing.

I have a 2010 Berlingo multispace. I am getting some suttle noises from the power steering and want to know if this is normal. It seems to happen when steering to the right only and it does not have to be on full lock. Just turning in a normal moderate corner can produce like a fizzing noise. Its an odd noise and not loud but noticible....

If its still under warranty it would be prudent to let the dealer take a look as its not going to cost that way.

Without hearing it, its difficult to say. Odd groans and noises can be air although they tend to self bleed after a while anyway. Is the fluid level OK ?

Just discovered one of the hydrauic return pipes from the front suspension unit on my 2005 C5 has come adrift creating a small but perfectly formed patch on my drive!
It looks like a pretty easy fix once I get the wheel off and reconnect it with some extra flexible tubing but do I have to then do anything specific like bleeding or something...

Took my car in for a wheel alignment and they put it up on the ramp and loads of oil/fluid were dripping out from the centre of the engine. The fluid was a clear/slightly yellowish in colour.

Of all the times it could do it, it chose to throw a hissy just as I was setting off home to attend a funeral tomorrow...

So the car was driving fine, had been all week, suddenly the engine management light came on and power cut.

Made a trip to Birmingham and back Sun/Mon. Filled up, did about 15 miles of town driving then set off. Did 450 miles in two journeys with an overnight stop in between. Got back and filled up. It took 34 litres to refill the tank, so by my calculations:

34 litres = 7.5 gallons

450 miles divided by 7.5 gallons = 60 MPG

Not bad for a 19 year old...

That's good but one car, if you can call it a car, was the phenomenal 1990 Vauxhall Nova 1.2 4 speed. An ex of mine has one and I could easily achieve 68mpg from a petrol!!!

Ok, you may find this useful, we had one in this morning, and this is the rear height sensor. I suspect your problem lies with this, may be just that the link has fell off or got bent. This car is a C4 Picasso, but the same as your van . We have just converted this one to coil springs. The Air bags are currently on back order.

Hi,

I was planing to order some Bilstein B8's for my C5 1.6 HDi 110 but discovered that they are not listed in Bilstein cataloque.
When I've checked PUG 407 1.6 HDi 110 they had them listed.

I already have H&R 40/40 springs which are same for C5 and 407 (100% exact same part number)

So I am wondering and I would be grateful if someone would...

Hi All

How the sod do you take this out?

Its the dash thast show your radio station/mpg etc

One of my bulbs has conked so it looks odd at night.

I removed teh bottom clip as it shot off some where so didnt want to remove the rest..

I assume its a #286 bulb that sits in there??

Great drive to Austria in Sylv's ZX.

Brussels at rush hour - not good! If you think the English are bad drivers, go to Belgium!

It rained through Belgium and Luxembourg. Wipers were not in the best shape.

Total trip time 19 hours 15 minutes inc. ferry. Nice smooth crossing for £19.

Sylv clocked 180km/h. Thankfully I was snoring. 46mpg on...

Hi Citroenists.

My 2001 HDi has an issue with the ABS. As the car is slowing down the ABS cuts in at low speed, about 2-3 MPH, causing the pedal to pulsate and braking to be impaired. I thought it could be a dirty O/S/F sensor and ring as I had the hub apart recently and the whole lot ended up covered in grease when I replaced the CV gaiter. I...

I didn't change the shaft, just the hub. Anyway, its fixed now! You were correct with the metal shield comment, I had bolted it under the sensor, rather than on top. The brakes now work perfectly. Thanks for all the great advice!

Yes, remove the door trims with a trim removal tool or something which is tstrong but not going to mark the paintwork. Once you have it started you can use a loop of tie wraps/cable ties to pll the rest of the trim off.

Then, press out the old trim from the back. Clean up the trims, use some good sticky silicone glue and put in the new trims,...

i have seen the metal feed spout of the pump come away before, they are an interference fit, try knocking it back in with something that aint going to damage it, maybe with some locktight on, if you can clean/dry the area first that is,

otherwise it might need knurling to help it grip, and use some locktight

I did have a similar issue with a 54 Picasso, and it was down to the crystal in the keyfob. The problem was getting hold of a replacement crystal of the right size and frequency. IIRC it was something like these;

onclick= window.open(this.href);return false;

but you have to be good with a soldering iron to replace it, as it is surface mounted.

As far as I'm aware, the EGR valve was introduced in '96/'97.

My understanding is that EGR + engine ECU was introduced in January 96 (new model year). I believe mine was one of the very very last (built mid-January 96) XUDs without. But I also know that some RHD Xantiae built later in 95 were still sitting somewhere unregistered in mid-96.

Hi all

While i am waiting for me dash bulbs theres one more niggle on my C5 sx 2.2 mk1 estate

When i get in the car it always reports the fuel flap is open?

Even though its not.

Is there a way to fix this or turn the darn thing off?

If I remember correctly the early 2.2 relies on a signal from the fuel cap to tell it when fuel has been added, such that it may add some eolys fluid for the dpf.

Does anyone know if the 1.9td XUD engined ZX's came with the Bosch pump or were they all lucas?

Also if one comes with a lucas how hard is it to convert to bosch? Im guessing ill need;
