Andy, I expect you'll find there's a good reason why the aircon system has been rendered inoperative. I'll take a guess that the compressor is seized and the clutch connector has been cut to prevent it engaging and causing damage.

In any case, if one pipe to it has been disconnected for any length of time then damp and contaminants will have entered the system and likely rendered them unserviceable...

I'd say that at the very least you’ll need a replacement compressor and receiver/drier and then it'll be over to an A/C specialist for a vacuum down and if that's OK, a refill of refrigerant and PAG oil.

Sorry, it's unlikely to be simple, cheap or easy this one.

cheers for the reply jim, would this being disconected have anything to do with not being able to get my cruise control working, i have got a lexia though not very up on it as its new to me, have checked the faults and only faults showing are with the aircon, open circuit and lack of pressure, the fvv is set to present in the injection settings, but i cant seem to find cc in the bsi menu cheers andy

Unplugging the compressor clutch (the plug) is not uncommon, as Jim says if its seized (as its been exposed to the atmosphere it will not be brilliant in the pipework anyway) engaging it with the engine running could rip the ancillary belt off or cause other damage so the previous owner probably unplugged it to prevent that, as when you switch to defrost it can activate the AC on some models automatically.

I don't think it will effect the CC at all, it will as you've seen complain about an open circuit (at a guess) on the AC wiring but that's expected probably a silent code ie no fault light. No pressure is expected too.

I've not looked where the CC options are have a good look again it may be under 'comfort' or 'aides'
