c5 Immobilizer fault help.Dont want to scrap it.
Guys iv'e been having problems a few weeks now,First the alternator packed in then the battery.Put a new alternator and battery on but within a week it was nearly flat had both tested and they seemed fine,Now a couple of times the car came up with an immobilizer fault and wouldn't start,So i disconnected the battery put key in door locked and unlocked with key a few times and ok for a few days,Now it happened today and no matter what we did it just would not start the fault was there and immobilizer won't let the car start,Called AA they spent two hours trying then towed it home its now sat outside.Anyone got any ideas or know a citroen expert around the bradford area.I'm not gonna spend a fortune on it i'll scrap first but that would be a real shame its still a nice car hdi sx estate.Anyone got any ideas.

The first trick I would try is the routine used to replace the battery;

This might help, but you do need to follow it properly for it to work. What have you got to lose?

Re: c5 Immobilizer fault help.Dont want to scrap it.
Thanks guys i'll give it a try tomorrow,The AA guy thought it must be the ecu that was knackered.Is swapping the ecu a big job,Does it need a lexia to code it to the car.
Re: c5 Immobilizer fault help.Dont want to scrap it.
Ok tried the above today but fit a new keyfob first,And it started fine but its done this before,I'm going to get an auto electrician to have a look,Does anyone know if its possible to disconnect the immobilizer or by pass it.The trouble is now i don't trust it.
Re: c5 Immobilizer fault help.Dont want to scrap it.
There are specialist companies you can send you ECU away to that can remove the imobiliser, you can't do it with Lexia or by twisting a few wires together. I think BBA reman can do it.
Re: c5 Immobilizer fault help.Dont want to scrap it.
you can switch the imobilizer off with the lexia

Well left it an hour and it wouldn't start,Anyway Ben is going to stick his lexia on it and hopefully he can turn the immobilizer off.
Re: c5 Immobilizer fault help.Dont want to scrap it.
Well cars still off road.Iv'e been told now it could be the new alternator as the battery goes flat in a couple of days,However if i disconnect the alternator the battery is holding its charge.With the alternator connected when i connect the earth clips theres a big spark bit like putting a wire across,Alternator disconnected theres just a tiny blue spark.So swapping alternator tomorrow.
Re: c5 Immobilizer fault help.Dont want to scrap it.
Forgot to update this it was the brand new alternator,Fit a new one and has been fine ever since.
