c5 Immobilizer fault help.Dont want to scrap it.

Post by den169 »

Guys iv'e been having problems a few weeks now,First the alternator packed in then the battery.Put a new alternator and battery on but within a week it was nearly flat had both tested and they seemed fine,Now a couple of times the car came up with an immobilizer fault and wouldn't start,So i disconnected the battery put key in door locked and unlocked with key a few times and ok for a few days,Now it happened today and no matter what we did it just would not start the fault was there and immobilizer won't let the car start,Called AA they spent two hours trying then towed it home its now sat outside.Anyone got any ideas or know a citroen expert around the bradford area.I'm not gonna spend a fortune on it i'll scrap first but that would be a real shame its still a nice car hdi sx estate.Anyone got any ideas.

The first trick I would try is the routine used to replace the battery;

http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 11&t=40407" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This might help, but you do need to follow it properly for it to work. What have you got to lose?

There are specialist companies you can send you ECU away to that can remove the imobiliser, you can't do it with Lexia or by twisting a few wires together. I think BBA reman can do it.

Well cars still off road.Iv'e been told now it could be the new alternator as the battery goes flat in a couple of days,However if i disconnect the alternator the battery is holding its charge.With the alternator connected when i connect the earth clips theres a big spark bit like putting a wire across,Alternator disconnected theres just a tiny blue spark.So swapping alternator tomorrow.
