Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Thanks to everyone who helped re my stereo problem, a new set should be winging it's way through the vagueries of the Royal Mail system as I type!!!

Hi all..

Does anyone know how to de-code THESE TYPE of head unit.

These units are fitted to Saxo, 306 and in Series 2 Xantias with the FOLD DOWN Flaps... They are phillips units.. Ive no idea if theres software to do them or not..

Be good if they were like the Xantia S1 Blaupunkts... De-codeable from the Part Number! Those wre the days

I bought a xantia estate a few weeks ago which I love but I have noticed a few times if I go to drive away pretty much straight after I have started the car I dont seem to have any brakes?

If you are going to do that, check the colour of the LHM.
If it isn't bright green then it may be advisable to clean the reservoir & filters and treat it to some Hydroflush.

Does sound like at least the accumulator sphere is shot.

I replaced the rear center (hydractive) sphere on Rattiva this morning in my usual way, reused the seal, hand-tight and so on. The damm thing leaked :evil:

replaced a corroded section of brake pipe, one new front calliper and new front brake pads on my 1.9D 2000 reg dispatch.
Tried bleeding my brakes but i am now having problems. The brakes seem to firm up but when i start it up the pedal becomes really soft and travels to the floor. There does not seem to be any more air the system so i am now...

I double checked things today, removed callipers again and scraped off quite a bit of rust debris and re-bled. brakes are now operational again although they do not appear to be as sharp as they were before i changed the calliper. Might need a bit more bleeding but i will let them bed in first i think.

I've bought a sliding caliper repair kit, for the Bendix front brake caliper on my ZX 1.9D. It's a genuine Citroen kit, with the part number 443903. The kit has got two metal sliders, four rubber gaiters, and two 'O'-rings. My question is - where do the 'O'-rings go?

I have a new fuel filter to fit but not sure how to remove the inlet pipes on the top. This is the filter with the screw off lid so I have to remove them to do it.

I didn't want to break anything and tried some gentle pulling but no movement. I see they have a fitting on the end with a sort of plastic tie as part of it ? Sometimes such pipes are...

Hi.. Can peoples confirm, how do you work out which wheel bearing is the one GROANING.... :-D

Should pressing car weight ONTO the offending bearing quieten it down, or lifting the weight OFF the offending bearing quieten it down??

I have a C15 which I purchased and to make clear it had the problem when I purchased.

Things that have been checked so far.
Front ball joints
steering rack
Drive shafts
Engine mountings
Wheel bearings
Front steering yolks (Demi-trains)

Now whilst these are not in perfect order they are far from being worn out.
Vehicle has done 256000...

Is it something that you have to go through all the gears before you get to the bolts, or do they put all the bell house bolts on the outside and make it a simple job???

Ok, job number 2 that needs doing.

The last time i got tyres the wheel place threaded both hubs on the drivers side. This means ive got 2 bolts on the front that dont tighten fully and one on the rear. Hi, Iam about to change the front three spheres on my series 1 Xantia. I also want to hydraflush at the same time . My question is : rather than taking out the tank to drain and clean, what if I used an hand operated pump to syphone out the hydraulic fluid, rather than taking out the tank, any thoughts ayone? cheers Terry . :idea:

Hi all,

I have just bought a V reg Xantia 2.0 HDI SX estate so this is my first post.
My lights on the tailgate dont seem to work so I have no reversing lights or rear fog lights can anyone give me any ideas where to start looking to sort this out please.

It's a common problem on estates and is a combination of poor quality wires and Heiulitz (who built all the estates) being mean with wire lengths. It's a rare problem indeed on the hatch...

The copper conductors are hard and brittle and this, long with short lengths and hard insulation, sees the wires off.

Hi All.
Hope you all had a good Xmas... just returned from vising my Daughter who has a C4. The nearside rear door is locked and won't open, her local Citroen Dealer say they can't fix it!!!! I remember reading somewhere that sometimes the child lock goes faulty and jams the lock.. but regardles, it looks like the only way in is to first destroy...

was thinking of splashing out on a C5 tourer exclusive - used. But as this is now the ONLY Citroen with full Hydra pneumatic I do not want to spend big money on a tech dead end.

I have a 2004 2.0 HDi C5
Never had any problem starting in cold or rain or shine.
Recent problem with difficult starting so I changed the glow plugs with no real effect.
Problem seemed to have settled down or 'cured itself' and ran car for a few days with no problems.
Driving home a few nights ago the engine cut out completely. :( Couldn't get it...

Just a short update:

Managed to run a temporary separate power supply to pump which means that pump runs when ignition on. This allows engine to start! :)

Will try to find source of problem and re-instate proper wiring asap.

Again, any suggestions or a copy of a wiring diagram would be most helpful.

Hi, and merry Xmas to you all :)

I was just wondering what oil is trecommended for the 2.1 TD engine I have in my Xantia, at the moment Asda is doing a great deal on Castrol GTX again, 10 quid for 4 litres!
but I dont know whether to get 10/40 or 15/40? thoughts?

I have a maintenance manual and for the 2.1 engine it does say 10W40 and uses 4.7L and 0.3L for the filter.
Typical they sell the oil in 4L containers.

Hi folks,
My 2002 C5 HDI has started to jump from full beam headlights on, back to dipped beam without touching the stalk.
Sometimes it will stay on full beam for a few minutes before jumping back to dipped and sometimes it will stay on
full beam for only a few seconds!!

Also, if buying second hand the stalks/comms2000 units differ with spec. So if you get one from an earlier C5 saloon and yours is a later one with a rear wiper it wont be on the stalk. etc.

Well new to this site, but have owned 3 Xantia's in the past and still have one on the road.
My Question is:-
Will the seats out of a MK1 C5 fit in the C5 facelift ie 2004 -2008 also will the door cards fit as well.

Citroen refer to the models as C5I (2001-2004) C5II (2004-2008) and C5III for the new germanic one (2008-). I tend to stick with that :) However the C5II can cause some confusion so is often better known as a 'facelift'.

As for your question, well I dont know! :lol:

So the seats and the door panels look identical and im 95% sure they will fit,...

Have any contributors photographs or other info regarding cyl head for Xantia Est 2.0 16V (petrol) reassembly.
(I have Haynes manual but it lacks a little detail of a few points).

Cyl head removed following cam belt failure. Valves hit piston etc (+ 230,000 miles so no complaints!)
Replacement valves installed & cam box reassembled without any...

I am just trying to find out the correct grade of oil for my gearbox, I have an invoice that says it had 3L of 75W80 replaced 9 months ago. This is a 2001 HDI 90 with a BE3/5 gearbox? 110k miles.

Book says gearbox is 1.9L so is 3L inc diff or did he spill some ? I assume gearbox and diff are all one oil supply, my first transverse engine car so...

Now I know what I am looking for I can make sense of the information in my maintenance book (in french) but the diagrams make sense now. I looked up the ML box an the drain is at the bottom.

Checked my gearbox and when on ramps the drain plug is the low point so no problem draining all old oil I reckon.

So anyone know why?? What sort do YOU have?

Two types are fitted, one has a 90deg joint each end, the other has one 90deg the other end is straight..

I discovered this when I ordered one recently for the green HDi SX W reg... they asked which type.. so I said oh late car ill just check on mine and mine, V reg HDi Exclusive was 90deg BOTH ends.....

Had to take the radio out a couple of weeks ago to remove heater control panel to fit bulbs.I noticed that two of the speaker dual connections had extra two core wires just pushed into the back.When they were pulled out there was no sound,so I've been driving around for two years with only two speakers working.I've only had time to investigate...

Hi,
Got a Xantia V6 with a 4HP20,
It slips out of gear , and sometimes it have a strange noise. (Like the pump don't get enough oil)

I have changed 13L oil on it now, and it's getting better, but it still give me a headache. It still slips out of gear when cruising - But if i floor the pedal, it pulls fast away from 0 to 150 km/h, like someone...

I tried what they said which is to take the heater controls off screen demist.
I noticed the fans were always on and couldn't figure out why, seems demist...

I've got a problem at the moment with airflow through the car.

The windows won't demist properly unless I crack open the rear windows a touch, which leads me to suspect a blocked extractor vent.

It's in the boot somewhere I believe. How do I get at it?

Checked gauge this AM under bonnet with car fully raised and it's above two lines, do I need to get it topped up like today? Will do about 400 miles between now and 27 Dec

if the yellow/orange disc is above the two red bands with the car on level ground and fully raised there is to much citro blood in the tank,
this does not matter as all it will do is make a mess as the fluid seeps out passed the top dust seal when the care sinks fully,

hi guys iv had my 02 plate c5 hdi for nearly a week and when i picked it up the chap said the warning will show for a flat tyre as he changed the wheels and they dont have the sencers in them but how can it just be saying the one if there all not there??? plus a day after i had a flat tyre lol another thing a day or so latter it started saying...

Check Control is where any fault messages are stored and can be read. The fact you have a faulty tyre pressure sensor means this message is stored there and will constantly come back until the fault is cured.

Hi, hope you can help.

I am running a '99 Xantia which up until today was problem free. Came out this morning to go to work and the orange immobiliser light on dashboard has started flashing and beeping and vehicle wont start. It turns over fine and everything else including the remote locking works but I cannot get the immobiliser to switch off...

If you have a matched ECU,CPH & key then it should all work straight off without any programming. Do you have the details of the car they came out of as you will need the transponder code for any future key programming.
