Hello, I am hoping someone here can help as I drawing a blank.
I have a non turbo 2004 Diesel Berlingo,
It's failing to rev above 2000, and bellowing out thick black sooty smoke. I know this is due to not enough air in the fuel mix. So far I have blanked off the egr pipe, and disconnected the exhaust but it is still blowing thick smoke and failing to rev.
Have taken off both of the little pipes from the egr valve, and now it revs fine but still the sooty smoke. Also have had the computer plugged in and it doesn't show any faults.
Any help is much appreciated.
Carl

Re: 1.9 Diesel Problems
I had a similar fault on a Dispatch, turned out to be the actuator had become disconnected on the egr butterfly in the inlet in front of the motor allowing the butterfly to close, easy fix once found.

Re: 1.9 Diesel Problems
I had the same problem with my 1.9d van last year it turned out to be a blocked exhaust due to a broken cat

Re: 1.9 Diesel Problems
Could well be cat.
The EGR although blanked off (vac pipe?) you need to check it is closed as they can clog up and not shut fully.
