Transponder Aerial Interchangeability

Post by addo »

Hoping Wheeler might know about this one.

Trying to simplify a motor swap with chip immobiliser.

The donor has something like an ID48 chip in the key. The recipient has an ID46.

Will the recipient's aerial be able to read the ID48 chip and pass the data to the donor Texton box and ECU?

Don't know 100% but can't think it would be a problem, it is just an aerial after all & not coded. Only one way to find out...

Thank you. I'd noted some circuitry to the side of the aerial unit and wasn't sure how it might interplay with actually reading the chip.
