Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Its not that difficult, make paper templates and leave a couple of mm extra all round to bend into the sides. You can either use small blobs of gasket sealant on the reverse side to hold in place or you can even buy small silver zip ties to secure either side.

I've had an issue with the XM for a good year now where if I park pointing up an incline, the fuel in the line appears to run back to the tank overnight. My current workaround is to park the car nose down.

Until a couple of months ago, if I started the car after leaving it overnight it caught and fired up immediately for about a second then...

Thanks both, I picked up a length of fuel pipe today and I'll starting replacing the pipes one by one. I've just replaced the one between the fuel filter housing and the pump, we'll see how well it starts up tomorrow!

Hi Guys
Now that we have some warm weather (how long will that last??) i have noticed my aircon starts off just blowong normal ambient temp air, then gets colder and then warm again. Doesn't seem a pattern to it.
Wondered if this was just a regas job or whether it indicates a cmpressor or condensor type issue.

Hiya,

It might just be coincidence, but after replacing the Bosch mechanical injection pump's bracket. There seems to be a lot of smoke when starting from cold, which then clears after a few minutes of driving when everything warms up.

There's a build up of black soot inside the exhaust rear pipe.
Also there's quite a bit of 'hunting' when...

The Xantia's been dripping on the drive - not much but enough to make a mess. Trying to stop water leaks in the ZX so have ordered some windscreen sealant from Ebay.
While cleaning the seal I noticed gaps both sides at the top corner of the screen near the roof rack channels - see picture.
Is this normal maybe to drain water away or should i fill it with sealant?

you need to locate the bottom ends of all 4 drain tubes
not 100% sure were the front ones terminate on a ZX, on a BX they are in behind the trim at the bottom of the A posts in the front foot wells, the rears will be in behind the rear lights,

Hi I have just changed my injector washer on my xsara Picasso, problem is when the injector finally came out the sleeve was 'welded' to it-problem. Does anyone know if I can buy a replacement seal and then cut the old sleeve off the injector. Also the top seal and the spacer need replacing. Anyone know where these parts can be found?

If they ar the same as the 2.0 8v HDi then the sleeve is a plastic item, and then yes they are available seperatly..

Just had a look on Service Citroen, and all the seals both lower and upper are all available seperatly no doubt from the dealer...

It is in the front of the engine under the air intake hose. It seems to have oil leaking from it.

Not had a good look but deffo oil there from near that part.

Nothing to worry about then, must be oil getting by the turbo seals. Car runs fine and uses little oil between services, turbo pipes go hard when engine revved up.

So my MOT failed nicely today. Mostly on welding, but a couple of other issues with the brakes that I can do myself.

Lots of work need to be done on both sills, to the point where it's almost worth replacing the whole thing (according to the tester), a couple of bits on the floor pan, and potentially a look at the strut tops.

I have the climate control, not sure what you have but my resistor was to the left of the clutch pedal. I had a similar problem when my blower motor had a mind of its own, new heater resistor fitted and all ok.

Okay, i have significant wheel vibration and can feel every pothole in the road. Over the last couple of weeks i have replaced, pads and disks, track rod ends, drop links and tyres. Tracking has been done and wheels balanced. Centresless wheels but properly balanced as had to take to three diferrent places. Have also topped up the LDS. All of this...

If the vibration is definitly related to road speed it can only be caused by an imbalance, either due to unbalanced wheels, a faulty tyre or a drive shaft joint or o/s shaft centre bearing or possibly a bent shaft - very unlikely I would have thought. Hi everyone,
A neighbour as a 56 plate Citroen C2 (not sure of engine type or size).
She has had a problem for a while with the airbag warning light being lit and a warning on the central display on the dash.
Recently the horn has become intermittent in operation (works sometimes, doesn't at other times).

Central locking plays up. Symptom is - remote attempts to lock but one door is not working. Thats ok will lock by key for now, hold key for a moment in lock position all doors lock. Drivers door at fault, check wiring between door and body, broken wire, youv'e all heard of this. Ok repair the one wire (grey) and..... Nothingat all. No attempt made...

My 2003 reg C5 has decided that it prefers it's windscreen wipers to come to rest vertically rather than horizontally! I''ve tried to manually adjust (or push) them back to their normal position but the next time I use the wipers they end up vertically again. Does anyone know a way to fix this and is it an MOT fail issue?

Yes.
While the actual motor may be fine then the parking electronics may be faulty - these are built in to the motor in most cases.

An autospark may be able to repair them though, depending on what the actual fault with them is.

Repositioning the blades may be worth trying. On the other hand you might mangle the arms that connect the wipers to...

So I'm getting ' Antipollution fault ' on the dash and the following error codes from the ECU P0400,401 and 402 - the cars is real flat at below 2500 RPM ...

I had suspected the MAF - but I've replaced and the codes persists

Whilst checking over before booking in for an MOT, I noticed the rear suspension spheres on both sides were damp with what I presume to be LHM. Where is this likely to be weeping from ? ( There is no drip or marks on the drive below ) and will this result in a fail? The car has been sat on the drive since last September so I presume any leakage...

a leak at/by the rear sphere could be the sphere seal to cylinder ( easy fix ), strut boot/gaiter split/perished ( bit more work to fix ) or the cylinder body corroded/starting to corrode through were it mounts in the sub frame (bit more work to fix )

I need something bigger to use with my trailer to be safe and legal. However Im NOT a fan of Big 4x4's like Landies etc.. however, I do like THESE Suzuki Vitaras ... My C5 can legally pull 1700kg, which is oddly the highest tow weight of any model. So you need a 2.0HDi 138bhp to have that weight.

The earlier 2.0HDi 110s are only about 1300kg.

Now I've sorted out all the obvious problems, I've noticed a few more subtle problems on my 110 HDI.

When I start it up after a few days, the back sinks to its very lowest setting, then rises back up to its normal position. This to be fair, is about an inch higher then it should be.

Nothing on that picture :) There's a link that goes from the bush at the top right to the inner wing - it is the bush in this link that breaks up.

The most likely cause of the rear sinking is the anti sink sphere (which isn't at all!) being flat, much as described by Paul.

Mine has developed a turbo whine too. Check the the short rubber hose...

Trying to fix high level brake light opened tailgate pulled the rubber boot feeding the wires into the tailgate shut the tailgate now the tailgate will not open. Is there a way of manually unlocking it. Getting a bit fed up now with this car, faults seem to be multiplying.

as titled on my N reg Xantia, the switch in the scuttle panel is turned to off as whenever i disconnected the battery the alarm would sound, the car is never locked but still every morning and every evening the alarm is chirping in a very hushed (like a whisper, literaly) way.
I lock it and unlock and that shuts it up but this evening no matter...

Just used the info on this post to unplug my alarm ECU on my MK1 Xantia 1.9TD. I will get a new battery when the rest of the jobs are sorted out for the MOT. For now I am working around a pretty discharged battery, requiring jump starts and central locking, plip sorting out, correct alarm activtion being down the priority list it is nice to know...

I was thinking as i am changing the clutch on my c5 could i fit a flywheel from a 110hdi xantia to my car as a cheap solid conversion ? What i do find funny is the clutch for the c5 is cheaper than the one for an xantia !

Im really not sure either, It would fit but im thinking it probably wont.

A solid clutch conversion does work fine on the 2.0HDi 110s, but I think it is a conversion kit rather than fitting a Xantia flywheel.

Electrical problem.
I can't get the driver side mirror to fold back in towards the car. The passenger side mirror works fine :?

That's because it will have been replaced by a standard one for about £25.
The folding ones are Citroën only and cost £160 :(
We do it all the time as you can imagine .

so my berlingo has an exhaust leak between join on the manifold and cat, ive tried to tighten it but its a bugger laying on your back so im going to get a garage to do it, its also due its mot so was going to get them to do that too, so should i:

get the garage to fix it and them put it though its mot (possibly failing on other stuff)

I've recently bought an 03 plate Xsara Picasso and some of the clips which hold the boot upholstery to the door are missing. I've looked online but can't find any which match the ones already in there (which are a dark grey colour and look just like plastic nails - there's no expanding bit on the stem which makes me wonder if they are...

Thanks for all the help with the alternator belt.

Was just putting the wheel on and realised two of the wheel nuts are not tightening! One is threading in but wont tension up really tight and the other is hardly getting any purchase, the other two are fine I think what has happened is that when the car was last having the tyres changed they have...

You don't reprogram the plip, you reprogram the car....
Turn the ignition on with both plips available to point at the roof sensor.
Briefly press the lock button of each plip in turn.
Switch off ignition
Test to see if they work.
Repeat procedure if necessary.

+1 on the ABS relay, done loads of them. It's the green one behind the n/s headlight. Half the time you pull the relay out & it's so corroded that half the pins of the relay stay stuck in the plug. A repair relay holder & terminals can be bought from Citroen seperatley. If it is that let me know & i'll look out the part numbers for you. If it is...

I had my car on my garages computer today to find out why the engine light was on, The computer come up with a few problems but one was the air flow meter, Would the air flow meter off my Xantia work on the C5 ?

I'm just under 6ft tall, leggy but no giant.
I have just purchased a Xsara picasso and the drivers seat seems very close to the controls and pedals. Is this normal? I have lifted the bar below the seat and pushed the seat back as far as it can.
Can the seat be removed and set back further from the pedals? :?

I have just bought a replacement engine for my C5, it has come with the gearbox still connected, it has a sphere mounted near the gearbox, it has the same RHZ engine code as my C5, what car would this have come from ? I was told it was from a 206 but clearly not.

Seems the Xantia engine is a less then straightforward swap, the major difference is the placing of the turbo oil return pipe, as it would require drilling into the block to relocate it, decided to admit defeat, so I have bought another engine which is from a C5, luckily I got the guy to take the Xantia engine back as he had listed it as a C5...

The auxilliery belt on my 98 xantia 1.9td snapped! I'm just in the process of checking the pulleys, which seem ok as far as I can see but i'm stil checking incase i've missed something there.

My old L reg Xantia 1.9 d went for its MOT this morning and got a first time pass.

It will need the driver's side rear arm bearings done at some time (which I knew about) but other than that no worries.

It has had a new exhaust back box, drop link, track rod, track rod end, steering rack gaitor, accumulator sphere and front discs...

Hi all, My girlfriend has a Citroen Berlingo Multispace as a recent(ish) aquisition to use as her works vehicle, and as per the title, it has a few issues.

Yes, it is. In reality it's the only thing that will properly read the codes. Citroens of this age didn't use EOBD despite having a 16 pin EOBD-style socket so most code readers are pretty useless.

Many of us on here have Lexia clones...
