couple questions C4 petrol (lifters, lutch, bad sound)

Unread post by c4newbie »

Hi i recently bought c4 1.4 16v and have couple problems. Clock is at 170k km. I do belts change and oil change.
After oil change i notice that lifters are loud when its cold and when its warm its less noisy but noticeable, they also do tak-tak-tak like diesel. I assume when i change all lifters it will be ok.

Also i have other problem when engine works in place engine rpm vary between 650-850 rpm, on clock in car look steady on 900rpm but i hear difference in cabin and lexia shows variations (i dono is that normal) can that problem be related to lifters ? Because on lexia all other parameters look normal, spark is on 2,2ms and all other things, also no any error.

Other thing is when engine is could on morning, when i starting from place and releasing clutch with low throttle in 1st gear, entire cars shaking with loud sound dang-dang-dang, vibrations coming from engine and i feel on pedals, and engine is very loud in 1st and 2nd gear when i drive, later when engine is hot it have normal sound (except lifters :)) no shaking at all , don't have that problem when performing same operations. Is that problem related to clutch or there is no good combustion (air/fuel levels)?

Thanks.

In my inexpert opinion I'd say that your valve timing is out slightly, which would likely have happened when fitting the timing belt.
I believe that there is a correct procedure to fitting the belt then adjusting the tensioners otherwise the belt turns the camshaft slightly, which puts the timing out a bit.

Someone who knows more about this will give a more accurate description and method of fitting the belt correctly.

Thanks. That was my opinion also but my repairman assures me that he put timing properly because he do that on more then 300 engines. :(
More opinions?
