xantia 1.9td cooling system

Post by boeingmech »

Hi I have a 95 xantia 1.9td with a bit of a cooling problem, the engine takes a while to heat up and at max temp the gauge sits at about 85c but the heating inside the car is only luke warm,i changed the stat but that didn't change anything the bottom of the rad was cool this morning with the upper part warm the engine fans do not cut in, if it is a blocked heater matrix what is the best way of flushing it.

I need to sort one simmilar too, but what im going to do which you need to do VERY CAREFULLY as they will be brittle is remove the heater matrix feed pipe, but be very carefull they do break easilly.

Once off use a GOOD power full hose and BLAST the matrix out!

Only other thing to do is pipe one pipe off the cylinder head outlet at the gearbox end, and the other end is down the back of the engine at cooling system joint.. above the bottom engine mount
