Fully Loaded C5......this is WHY I drive one

Unread post by Stickyfinger »

Image

6 x Cast Iron Radiators on a full length wooden cargo bed with 6 metal tie downs welded to metal L section cross spreaders....

That's 650kg loaded for tomorrow, Somerset to Carlisle and I have a mileage goal to break as well (speed limits must be adhered to), got 62 mpg on the last long run

Bugger off Van Man !...I have leather, aircon and Citroen suspension to keep me comfy....BOTH Ways !...

Murder, why ?...I use it standard form every day, the load bed splits in two so the back seats fold up normally and the boot slide cover hides the returning bubble wrap :)

(PS...I have the rear radius arm bearings changed every time I get a new one)

That's why I said a family car in the continuation ... the car wasn't designed for the radiators ... else it wouldn't have air condition ... :D ...

Ahh...I see the confusion......the rads ARE my home made Air Con...I fill them with Iced Water every morning :)

A quick fag packet calculation, on average I use the car for about 28 tonnes of rads a year :)...the rest go by palette delivery...they are the big ones :)
The MAX we had in my old Xantia was 1.6 tonnes....not on the road however....but the suspension did work :)

I've just been beaten. I had 960kg of stone tiles in my wagon and it lifted. But 1600kg is a league apart.

Theres my XM loaded with a few hundred drive bricks shot...

Think i'll count the next load in and see how many she takes for the next run to the dumper and see if i can get in even more but the sidewalls of the tyres take a hammering with high weights and really need to be C rated if they are doing such weights for more than the very rare trip :)

The EXACT figure was 1476kg + about 30kg of bolts...I just looked at that order.

The car was dead (3/4th gone and a big end noise) so we used it for shifting stuff around the yard....unloaded a van load of radiator sections (they come new is separate parts..we build them up) into the back of the Z estate and ran them up a rough farm track for storage....so I know the exact weight.

It drove OK but VERY light upfront

So...has Citroen done a Destructive Test on their cars ?

OK...full load to Carlisle and empty on the way back to Somerset.
Country roads for 2 hours the rest M-Way speed limits on Cruse Control.....61mpg for the total run....happy with that :)
