Are you talking about the fancy glowplugs type arrangement which helps the coolant warm-up on HDIs? If yes, could you trace the power supply cable back to some convenient junction in the feed circuit, where you could disconnect it. It will be quite a thick/heavy cable. I'm guessing here, but as Citroen didn't fit fuses in the glowplugs feed on the 1.9TD (because of the high current demand?), then presumably it likewise didn't fit a fuse on your water heater circuitry, otherwise you could have just pulled the fuse.

Sorry, on re-reading your post, maybe you actually want to remove the whole water heater caboodle?

There are 2 relays in the under bonnet fuse box somewhere that run these. Physically removing the unit is a bit tricky, as access to the mounting bolts is limited to say the least. Trouble is, if you've cooked it, you will almost certainly have broken the O ring that seals the 2 halves, and it will leak now.... I know this, because that is what mine does (cooked it bleeding the cooling system after changing the belt and water pump)! Mind you, it only uses about a pint every 10k miles, so I just keep topping it up - easier than replacing the heater! I imagine that if you could remove the unit you could just put a joiner in the pipe in its place.

Thanks for the reply Richard,

I don't know if the unit is cooked but as you said it is a PITA to get to. I had the unit out and put back about to refill with coolant after fixing initial problem, will see what happens.

Another problem as a result of the removal broke plastic pipe which runs from air filter to turbo inlet (service citroen £145.00). It broke at joining seem and doesn't like being glued together. Currently held together by glue and duck tape :-D

Does anyone have a spare one for sale?

Hi All,

Hose sorted with new jubilee clip and sealed nicely.

http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... =3&t=47066" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Emptied old coolant and refilled with new and it would appear to have solved problem with water reheater as per link above.
It was a large air lock which caused the heater plugs to over heat and cause a potential fire within engine bay.

Now running beautifully, but found hole in rear exhaust pipe after box so no great drama yet :-D
