As we are all aware strut tops are no longer available from Citroen. Or are they? On service Citroen it lists the later ones, 5271FO left, 5271F1 right, as no longer available. From RPO 08057. Can't help with advice on fixing fan control, but if you find yourself in traffic and overheating you might just get temporary relief by turning heater up full fan on high and open the windows. The heater matrix is a small radiator. Had to do that in my Hillman Hunter going up steep hills in summer, back in the 70's.....

Hi,
I am having some issues with my 1998 1.9TD estate Xantia speedo.
it is according to my sat Naff reading 10miles per hour below what it should be
any ideas please?
Maybe there is some sort of sensor that might need replacing somewhere.

Can somebody please also confirm if this will affect the upcoming MOT?

My 1998 S2 Xantia estate needed an offside rear sill repair this year, the first bit of welding for a 16 year old car.

I am planning to flush the sills with Waxoil very soon but I am wondering if it would be acceptable for future MOTs
if I drilled some holes in the top of the sills on the doorsteps and put in grommets so that I have access...

I was initially thinking about pulling back the carpets and drilling a 6mm hole in the back of the sills behind the carpets.
This would give me a hole big enough to get a high pressure small gauge tube into.
I'm not to sure about disturbing the seat belt mounts whether its a great idea or not I'll release them and feed them with some lube for 24...

Does anyone know where the internal temperature sensors are located in a 2005 C5 with dual aircon. It looks like the passenger one is on the front of the facia to the right of the glovebox but I can't find where on earth the driver side one is?

I don't know and guess its a calculation based on the temp and what you want each side to be. You probably have a black sunlight sensor on the dash top. That's so the car knows which side the sun is shining on and can increase cooling on that side as direct sun makes you hotter.

Clutch pedal sticky....

Hi all,
Just got back from a short drive and noticed the clutch pedal felt a bit strange. The bite point is quite high and as you release the pedal and take your foot off, the pedal seems to stick towards the end of travel and then jumps the last cm or so.
Would I be right in thinking the clutch is possibly on its way out or could it be something...

Hi. Had the same on my C5 and one day the pedal went to the floor and stayed there .
The clutch was worn out and the slave had gone past where it should go.If this happens you will need a new slave cylinder as well or it may drop again at some time. Slave cylinders are cheap from Euro Car Parts.
May need flywheel if dual mass.

Is it normal to the knocking sounds from I guess the injectors when cold?

The knocking goes after few minutes and when cold there is a slight miss when at approx 2500 revs but again not whem warm.

I've had the airbag light on the dash come on intermittently for a while, its the side airbag light, when I start the car all lights go out then 5 seconds later the side airbag light is on dash, but sometimes it doesn't come on at all.

It is the reluctor ring, on front poss driver side. I recall hearing low pitch rumbling noise now and again last year on slow braking and would lose grip on slow braking for a second or so. Not had the problem since but lexia says change. Will clean all brake sensors as well or replace if knackered.

I have a Xantia HDI 110 and as the title suggests I want to be able to switch limp mode on and off. The reason: my car has no speed limiter and limp mode does that job very nicely.

A circuit would need to be switched. Can anyone think of a circuit which triggers limp, could be switched off without doing any harm and when switched back on...

I'm wondering if the mechanic didn't try too hard to remove the old stuff. In theory the suction pipe should go to the lowest part of the sump or very close. If the pipe was pushed too far, it would coil upwards again and leave old oil in the sump. Assuming he made an effort to find the oil capacity of the engine , he would have put that amount...

I've had this warning come up on the dashboard/radio panel.

I'm assuming it is something to do with the exhaust/cat. Before I take it to the dealers, I'd just like some confirmation, to understand exactly what it is and try to stop the dealer robbing me hand over fist.

I parked ca last night on kerb and half on road so car was at an angle.

Had a damp night with frost this morning jumped in car this morning it said check coolant...

So i put car on flat service checked it was fine?

Jumped back i car and no more warnings...

drove to work with heaters keeping me toasty and all was fine...

I got a call at around 4 am, to say my father had had a fall and was having emergency plastic surgery to his face, following which he would need to be brought to the eye hospital for a checkup, to ensure no eye damage had occurred. Yes, as did the 18. To be fair, the 18 was quite a competent car. They used to break gearbox input shafts. Apart from that they gave little trouble.
Nobody would ever pay to have the gearbox fixed, so I never found out why it happened.
They were a good engine donor for Volvo 340s.

I have Xantia 1999 2.0 hdi. Though it suffers from no fault, i ordered a cheap obd2 bluetooth adaptor just for fun from china/ebay. I know these ECUs are not fully obd compatible but i was expecting basic things like mpg.

I tried many android apps but none could connect. Only Torque is showing ECU check ..ok . But i cant monitor throttle, rpm....

Yea, I had a simmilar problem. Its a BE3 box with Cable change added as the gearlever is on the dash. Id of thought the Relay/Partner uses the same box, but it doesn;t seem to, it uses a ML/ME type box..

In my quest to obtain another estate car for work, I've been offered a C5 HDi with a manual gearbox. There are one or two negatives as to whether I take on the car, the first being its green! :mrgreen: :rofl2:

The second problem, which is more of an issue, is that it is stuck in gear. As the car is very low mileage, I thought its got to be worth...

It can pop off usually in the remote control house under the car.

confirm it if you can. Remove the air filter and pop the cables off the box then try toggling the gears directly on the gearbox.

swing the lever for forward/backward simulated moment and push down and pull up for neutral..

its the front section only.. ring clamp at the manifold....

Hi All,
I have misplaced my Haynes manual (not that it would help me) :roll:

Citroen C5 Estate 2003
Headlamps wont work, I have changed the bulbs, When I turn on the lights I can not hear any relay for the headlamps.
Where is the headlamp relay?
I have tested all the fuses I can find and none are gone.

There is only 1 relay that I can find...

Well, I suppose it had to happen, sooner or later.
We brought the Cit to Dublin today, for a hospital visit, and got home again with nothing having broken or fallen off.
That's a new record for us. Nearly 200 miles and no new troubles!
The only fly in the ointment is, as I knew already, but assigned a low priority to it, the headlight beams are...

Yes, that thought had crossed my mind.
Mine doesn't sink, or at least, not much.
Still, it doesn't take much of a droop to make the lights point skywards.
In any event, whenever I can find time, I'll be setting the lights and I know I need the engine running!

pedal is a bit low to the floor, still driving ok, on my last C5 I had the same problem, user oneday came up last time and did it for me,but I stupidly didn't look how he did it,I have taken the air filter box out and thought it may be self explanatory, not to this idiot...can anybody please if poss with pictures, show me/tell me what I have...

hi new to this..!! bought a 2002 c5 2.0l hdi 110bhp, aux belt frayed and timing belt jumped. mechanic told me to get 8 cam followers i ordered them on line two weeks ago arrived today he said they are hydraulic lifters but it said they were cam followers on the site confused...!!! googled cam followers and got photos of lifters and rocker arms can...

I'm just seeing if any nice people on here could throw up any ideas on a fault I have on my 2003 C8 2.0 HDi. Not long after I purchased about 4 months ago and the fault has been intermittent since the first day I have had it but is no becoming more frequent.

from reading this post the OP says the diameter from the 1.8 and 2.0 is similar, but very different from 2.2.
Does this mean you can not use HA3 spheres on HA3+? as in they wont fit at all as the hole size is much bigger?
i'd like to try HA3 Comfort spheres and keep my central ones to retain sport...

Well my C5 1.8 VTR 2009 has put the eml up again with the anti polution fault on speedo,last time I posted it the thoughts were it could be the battery so I have got a tester and found it had 12.37 across the terminals without key turned and with ignition on it had 12.13 and with the car going it had 14.47,so I take it that the battery is...

morning all 8-)

chaps, yesterday the C5 wouldn't start, immobiliser fault.. for the third time since I got the car..
the usual banging about on the engine-side fuse box made some clicks but wouldn't cure the problem this time..

I got the lexia on last night, and the ECU was locked, the key was no longer paired...
spare key unlocked ECU, cleared...

Any ideas re this; my radio/cassette is working fine, its just the lit display that has decided to give up the ghost. Its fine in the daylight as the display is working fine as its an LCD display but when the sun goes down its a bit of pot luck with the radio......luckily I don't retune it much so know where the various stns are by judicious use...

You've just reminded me that the radio backlight is out on my TD. I've had the car for getting on three years and it was out when I bought it.

The issue continues....
I've carried out some investigations:

Vacuum pump is working (tested the brake pedal) some one said this is linked to the turbo charger (not sure about that)
MAF was replaced a year ago - does disconnecting this test whether it's at fault?
EGR - could this be causing these symptoms? there appears to be some small solenoid...

Hi, my series 1 Xantia. just noticed that I can pull the positive wire out of the clamp , with ease ! my question is, should I be replacing the positive lead or is there a way of repairing the lead. ( I have tried to tighten the two screws on the battery clamp, but it is still very loose ! any advice gratefully received, Terry. :)

There is a very common misconception that heavy duty clamps are better.
Not so.
You should always choose the clamp that fits your cable. It should be barely possible to get all the strands into the battery clamp, with the screws out as far as they can go without getting lost.

I know you've said that the EGR is disabled but have you checked that it isn't actually leaking exhaust gasses back into the inlet manifold. From experience I can say that they do stick open so just disconnecting the actuator won't always work - assuming that is what you mean?

Hi,

The engine management light has come on and the car is intermittantly losing power. It seems to only happen when the fuel is below a quarter tank if I top it up it seems to run ok until the fuel drops again.
