Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

There is a rattle on the o/s/r that i've tracked down to be a loose washer on the bolt from the ARB onto the arm (18mm head) I've tried to do the bolt up but i can't shift it, i've not give it any serious abuse yet but is this bolt a troublesome one or am I ok to not be a school girl and get the big bar out....

I'm just interested to know what sort of mpg the veg runners are getting. I'm running RUNN on 100% KTC veg at the moment. I put 60 litres in - so there couldn't have been much room left in the tank - last weekend, and have just rolled over onto 615 miles. For what it's worth, my experiences on veg are these:

Better mpg on used (well dried and polished - 0.5u) than unused. Better emissions by on average a third using veg oil as fuel - biodiesel users often report emissions less than half than when on mineral oil (forecourt diesel).

I generally add 10% 'diesel' to my used oil, it improves the mpg...

My AX 1.5D speedo is sticking at 0.

I only to tap the dash VERY lightly to get it moving again.
It doesn't matter if I drive over rumble strips that shake the car to near death.... just the little tap will do.

i think i have read somewhere that to fit cruise all you have to do is fit the colum switch and 4 wire brake switch and activate on a lexia is this right or am i imagining it.

On an 03 it is certainly a C5I, series one. It might well have the second brake switch being slightly later C5I. I would get a stalk, program it with the Lexia and if it doesnt work you know you need the switch. Its easy and cheap so its the way I would do it.

Im sure someone localish to you would help you with the lexia part if your not...

red and white connectors are Right/Left audio phono jacks for connecting an Auxillary audio source. Leads are available to convert a headphone jack to 2 x phono plugs. Connecting via this method means that track selection has to be done via the external device and you won't get any track info on the radio display.

Our local dealer has a 'fixed price' menu, which I think might be a national initiative. Wipers are £29 a pair fitted for any Citroen. Maybe expensive for a Saxo but looks like good value for a C5 III or similar and probably astonishing value for a C4 PIcasso or other real big screen models.

I wonder if you took in a BX, as its a per pair price...

Can anyone tell me where the ODBII (Lexia) socket is on a 2009 C5 Exclusive?

I already have a Lexia and it has worked on my Xantia's and 2005 (face lift) C5 2.0HDI. I want to see if this will work on my 2009 C5, but cannot find the OBDII socket!

Got my new front bumper trim for my series 1 Xantia today :)

It was on backorder and had to come from France but only took a week or so to get here.

A bit difficult to photograph but it really does make a big difference to the look of the car.

I've had no experience of parking sensors on any vehicle. So I was a bit confused when I saw these little 'eyes' on the rear bumper, and just assumed they are the sensors.

I have recently changed the dreaded swirl valve diaphragm on my 2.2 C5, whilst changing it i replaced the rubber pipe which connects to the swirl valve,when i start the car now the valve doesnt shut until i increase the revs to 2.100 and it then shuts,the car seems to have less power now than it did before the repair as before i got round to...

Next job on the horizon is to paint and fit my new rear spoiler for my series 1 Xantia :)

It looks like it bolts on from underneath the bootlid. Can't see an easy way of doing it though :oops:

Hello,
I have got an annoying problem with the Lexia I recently purchased from eBay. I think it is V47 and comes with Diagbox 6.01 plus Diagbox 6.15 upgrade patch.
I followed the seller's instructions for activating the Diagbox application. A mistake, I guess. The activation code he provided was not correct and I managed to find a working one...

The paint code for a Xantia is said to be a 3 letter code but on the door post sticker of my HDi it's 4 letters, KPKD. I can find KPK touch up paint but not KPKD, does the D matter ?

I haven't experienced any charging problems with the motor in the year and a half of ownership.
I've been out doing lots of running around today with quite a few stop/starts. I came home and parked up for an hour, went back to start the car and the alternator wasn't charging. The battery meter just kept dropping.

Could be a placebo effect but after fitting my new alternator today the ride feels better, bumps aren't so harsh.
The old alternator would have the battery charging meter at a point just below half way. This one has it above halfway.

Just a word of thanks for the info on the forum that allowed me to tackle the rear calipers on my TD Xant estate.

The corrosion build up was twisting the caliper round enough to be touching the disc, plus the usual cheese shaped brake pads! As Citrojim recommended I used a breaker bar twisting gently to & fro to loosen the bolts, plus plenty of...

Oops - I just refitted the old bolts - they looked fine apart from some alloy corrosion dust on the inner most threads. Wirebrushed and greased and back in they went.

When I put the new pads in - I will change the bolts one at a time then.

ok so i did search on the forum, i found a few threads regarding checking LDS level but mine looks a bit different, possibly being the early model?

so is BASE minimum level at suspension low? which would mean the level from side view should be somewhere on the line drawn on this pic?

alos, what do MAXI and HYD signify here?

If the C5 is similar to the C6, then you need to depressurise the system before checking the LDS level, once the system has been depressurised, then the level of the fluid should be touching the bottom of the basket.

Morning Chaps

My Xantia TD is rattling at the front down the 1/3 mile rutted farm track that I live down. Had the front wheels off and notice that the rubber boot is torn on one of the RH joint upper ball hence the rattle.

Had a look on GSF website and I notice the one I need from the pics is the link with the 90 degree at the top but straight...

I found that I had to be careful to avoid twisting the rubber boots around during fitting - its not hard to do by mistake, which would lead to the rubber boot failing quick smart. The trick is to hold the centre still with an Allen key and do 90% of the tightening with a big ring spanner, only doing the final tweak with a socket...

Hi ive just bought a 99 1.4 xsara west coast when i got the car the owner said the clutch cable was sticking and might need adjusting ( only later would i find out there self adjusting )
ive changed the clutch cable but it still has the same problem .... when i let the clutch out its fine until about half way , then it makes a big bang and stalls...

Hi, I am finding my 1997 TD, Xantia, has very poor acceleration from second to third. My Xantia is now heading towards 180,000, should I exspect this sort of acceleration because of the mileage? anybody got any thoughts or ideas. many thanks in advance Terry .

Can anyone explain why my rear wiper keeps operating when I unlock my car, also my car was hit on the rear n/s door and quarter panel by a careful woman driver in tesco's car park and did one and since then when I put my alarm on both the alarm warning light and central locking light flash alternatively any ideas would be helpful,

The rear wiper problem is perhaps a problem developing with the comms2000 unit. As the C5 is multiplexed, when the unit starts to break it gets confused signals and does odd things.

With the alarm warning lights, you mean the red and amber (or two red if its a C5II) lights on the dash flash alternatively? If so I believe this to be normal, all...

I have travelled back from Wales to Hertfordshire today and I've noticed a whinning noise from the front end. It sounds like a wheel bearing on its way out, as i took it out of gear and you can still hear it. I was wondering if anybody has any idea roughly how much this will cost in a garage?

I am in the market for a smaller Citroen, now that my wife's ZX is toast and I was thinking of replacing it with a C4. I'd be interested in hearing comments and recommendations about the engine options available. What is good, bad, rubbish, etc. Overriding need is for economy as SWMBO does a round trip of about 45 miles a day.

Just to recap, after turning radio on whilst in car getting ready for holiday it turned off and has refused to turn back on. My local garage has managed to get radio going via his Lexia but it still refuses to fire up on it's own. Any ideas before it starts getting expensive to fix?!

I have recently bought a C5 which did take a bit of thinking about as i have read plenty on the forum and i think alot of it is quite negative to the C5, I want hear what people really think of them ???
I have had mine about a month i am getting used to it and still fixing the odd bits but on the whole i like the car and think it feels much more...

hi only had this c5 2003 2,0 hdi vtr fot two weeks but after driveing a 2001 xsara for a few years it seems to have a lot of movement on the peddle before it responds. can anyone tell me where it is possitioned and is there anyway to adjust it or is it a case of fit a new one thanks in advace for any help

Its taken 11k but ive just come home and niticed splaters of lhm inside the drivers front wheel rim, and drips on the outer edge of the subframe along with soaked undertray in the area and splatters all over that side of the engine bay although there are spots all over the engine tbh, pump is dry though, not very well atm either so not really got...

In the ongoing MOT readiness saga, tyre fitters have noticed that there is a small exhaust leak, and a lot of rust at the junction between the cat and the silencer(?) box in the main exhaust pipe where the clamp is fitted. :( The sleeve next to the clamp is mostly rusted through. Readings are good Simon. The lambda value indicates the mixture is just a tad on the lean side. You may have a lambda sensor that's becoming a bit sluggish, a slight duff MAP sensor or most likely a small air leak on the inlet manifold... Before the next MOT a new manifold gasket may be in order.

Can you get her on a Lexia? That may well reveal...

the v6 has hydraulic tappets, it is not unusual for one to lose some oil while the engine sits with a valve open, but normally it will refill and quieter down after running a few seconds. I have heard one that was permanently noisy, and suspect that it would require a replacement tappet, which is a cam-out job.

Mike, does the rattle cease after a few seconds of running?

You quite often hear a rattle from the tappets immediately after starting a very hot engine when it's idling very slowly. One blip of the throttle sees the engine quieten down...

If the noise is constant and does not go in a few seconds, I'd have a look at the cambelt rollers and...

Hi everyone!
Have had a main air bag light flashing for a few days so i thought i would have a look for any posts about it on here.
Found some previous posts of course!!
As you can probably guess the problem was the usual culprit (plugs under drivers seat), after a quick unplug/replug the problem has gone!! Just wanted to say i probably wouldn,t...

Quick update!!
had air bag key switch out and worked it a few times and unplugged/replugged it a few times and light is now out!!

Hi All,

Just a quick bit of advice really. I recently picked up a 1998 Xantia Estate which is in quite immaculate condition except for some major bubbling on the rear wheel arches directly above the wheels (some of the bubbles are near 2cm across...) Now I guess that once I get down through the paintwork, the outer panel will be quite bad and...
