C5 MK1 2.2 engine swap.

Post by waynedance »

Hi all has anyone changed an engine on the mk1 2.2 hdi?

My engine is a DW12TED4
BHP~kW 136~101.4
Valves 16

I have found an engine from a Peugeot 607 with an engine code 4 hx dw12ted4, will this fit straight into my car? is this a more BHP engine?

Do people know if the fuel pump or injectors are coded to the car?

Thanks.

I am not 100% sure on this but someone asked about the engine from my c5 that I am breaking and said they would need to take the ecu as well so it is quite possible things are coded. The Haynes doesn't cover the 2.2 but they say you need to recode injectors when you replace them?

I thought the injectors were not coded like the Fords, someone will be along soon hopefully.

Waiting for a 40k engine from a 06 plate Peugeot 607 to be delivered, comes with fuel pump, injectors and turbo.

Your donor should have come with the Brembo quad piston brakes, too (unless you just bought the motor).

I have heard of a 2.0L engine being fitted in a 2.2 406 coupe - much more economical.

I wouldn`t recommend an engine swap from any peugeot cars. There are slight differencies in engine mount, electrical parts, sensors, even turbo is different. If engine block has a mark 4HX on it could be OK but... You should shearch for more info. Ask for VIN code from peugeot engine owner and check for Part Code in Peugeot Planet Website to compare it with your Part code - to be sure that engine block is 100% identical. At some point I bought 4 injectors from a 607 4HX and it my car did not start with them. Different bosch code written on them so, you may have to compare part codes on them, ask help from a good mechanic.
Engine from peugeot doesnt have more power is only marketing strategy.
I`ve done an engine swap from mk1 citroen c5 4hx and everything was OK.
There is no need for hardcoding, there is no option for that in LEXIA like Renault par example (there are different injectors - delphi type)

Engine is from a 607 and I have seen the chassis number and it has the same 4hx code in it as mine and the same engine number.

I have my own injectors should I need them. So do you think all should be good with them having the same engine numbers?

I dont have a peugeot planet account to check engine part number only on citroen. I suggest you to find out engine part number by chassis number of that car over phone with a local peugeot dealer or with someone with access on peugeot site.
It is essential to have identical engine part number on both car, chassis number is not enough - it happened with my injectors as I told earlier. Also check for HP Pump and about injector only a good mechanic familiarized with them could help you or a Bosch specialist.
Overall I think engine block sould be identical but you have to be sure 100% first.
What happened to your engine? mine taken water...

No the injectors are not coded to the car but they are coded to the ECU in that there is a number which relates to the injector class that needs to be coded into the ECU with a Lexia (Suspect that it basically tells the ECU how much fuel they pass) The pump is not coded as such but there are different pumps which i believe operate a bit differntly as regards the third piston, this is a bit hazy in my mind so take that statement more as an area to research rather than as fact.

sorry to hear that, seems to be a pretty common problem...
I hope it will fit OK. Not sure about injectors...
