Citroen Synergie 2001 - which diagnostic kit?

Hi,

The engine management light has come on and the car is intermittantly losing power. It seems to only happen when the fuel is below a quarter tank if I top it up it seems to run ok until the fuel drops again.

ANyway I'd like to get a diagnostic kit to read the error but I'm now sure what I should be buying.I've seen the elm 327 mentioned but is that the right one for me?

Lexia.....no other sensible option really, and you can get one now for about the same as a diag check! There might be someone nearby you can wave one over it to get an initial diagnosis. What engine is it?

I'm not sure what engine it is, it's 2 litre petrol is all I know.
