Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I'm getting new sensors fitted soon. Does anyone know if these are fitted with the tyre on? Not sure how long to allow for the job. I expect it will take a fair bit of time if the tyre has to be removed from each wheel to fit the sensors but it would be good to know if it's gonna take long enough for me to take SWIMBO shopping or if I can just...

when we got my daughters synergie it had a loose N/S front swivel pin,
which we ended up fitting a second hand hub that seemed to be ok and got it through the MOT,

flippin things gone loose again, seems to be a common fault on these,

so apart from welding :-D the hub to the swivel pin what is the long term fix

I am probably wrong but i think there may have been the possibility of 2 different ball joint pins. The pinch bolt as far as I remember is an M10 8.8 bolt. If you want to be able to really welly it up replace it with a 12.9 bolt. They usually come in socket cap format.

I need to know whether these are the correct item to get for my 2007 C5. The chassis no is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

Well, after 25k miles of being ok, it had to happen sooner or later.

Berlingo is making an occasional knock. It *only* does it when turning right at 15-20mph. It's more likely to do it when there's a passenger in it. It's a dull knock rather like the knock it made when the rear engine mounting bush had gone. I can feel it through the steering I...

Hi all
Got my self a N reg 1.9 TD Xantia done about 87,000, turns out the front suspension was fairly hard and the front ride height looked kinda high to me. Well the local Citoren specialist ( used to look at my BX back in the day ) reckoned it was the Spheres.We had a bit of a discussion about the height corrector sticking etc...what worried me...

A roughly check if the car height is normal

Measure the distance from ground to wheel arc in low position.
Raise the car to max and measure again.

The normal height should be about half the distance between min and max - set the car to normal ride,measure the distance and compare it to the calculated distance.

Hi folks - have been working on the car electrics (now sorted) but lost the registration with the plip during that process. I gather that to reconnect, I need to switch on the ignition with the spare key, and then fire the plip at the receiver. The problem is that the spare key will open the doors, but not turn in the ignition. I have had a brand...

Hi Citroen forum,

I've read up many a thread on the clutch replacement causing possible issues with the slave cylinder if the garage has gone in heavy handed. I've got exactly the same issue. The garage has replaced the clutch but there's now no pressure on the clutch pedal and the clutch won't fully disengage with the biting point on the floor....

Passed the MOT today with no advisories, just a comment on the insignificant LHM bleed around OSR sphere (which CitroJim spotted on the pre-MOT a couple of weeks ago and) which requires no immediate action. :) Recent engine oil, filter and 50% ATF change keep the good times rolling. Average MPG over the 22 months and 18K miles of mixed duties...

As for MPG, I remember bringing my V6 Xantia back from scotland, I took it easy and steady, only because old L reg TD was following behind and managed around 34mpg.. I was rather impressed with that. And that was with a dodgy coil pack where she would run on 5 now and again....

Hello, my brother has a Nemo van that munches tyres.
He has had both front struts tops replaced under warranty but its still doing it.
Tracking and balancing have been checked many times and from different garages.
The dealer is not of great help.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Gang,

Here's a quick update re my problem:

Have checked for air leaks - zero
Have checked glow plugs fine
When running no problems with pump
New battery fitted and fully charged.
The key is being recognised by immobiliser.

So here's the latest it requires approx 23 turns and then she starts resulting in an beeping alarm and flashing yellow...

also wen this happened i managed to bypass the imobiliser by the pump and just ran a live to the solinoid,,,,i cant remember how thou...but if u can give the wires a wiggle while someone tries to start it...thats how i found it..

The fault seems to relate to the oxygen sensor (replaced) or the wiring. Has anyone experienced this - it appears the car is running too rich and flagging a fault. Any help on the diagnosis greatly appreciated, C2 2004 1.1 SX cheers

P0131 means the oxygen sensor voltage is staying low all the time, which would normally indicate a lean condition if the oxygen sensor was working. On the other hand if the ECU was receiving a low voltage erroneously (faulty oxygen sensor, oxygen sensor heater not working, shorted wiring etc) then it would try to richen the mixture to compensate...

Taking out all my cloths/gloves and stuff prior to Wednesdays service and MOT, I noticed that I have two towing brackets. One short and one long. I'm assuming one front and one rear, but the owners handbook shows only one supplied. The other stuff would appear to be a splined and threaded shaft with a taper end (about 100mm long), which I presume...

Ah, so the wheels have bolts, not studs, I see it all now. There's normally a raised ring for locating wheels but I guess the Citroen likes to be different. Just in the middle of a hydraflush (700mls, only another 300 to go) and I noticed the car tends to settle more over the course of a few days if not used.
Probably normal as the flush is thinner ? than LHM so would seep past seals more ?

After fitting hydraflush and bleeding everything car runs well and Stop light which used to take 20 secs+ to go...

I'm looking to lower down a subframe in the coming future to gain access to some VERY crusty pipes which have burst and fired waxoyl (ahem.. LHM rather) all within my old 2.1TD's wheelarch. I recently had to replace a front-rear brake pipe.

It was very difficult tracing the pipe runs because the pipes ran over the top of the rear subframe. I spent couple of happy hours under the car drawing what I saw on bits of card and came up with this.
This is for the rear of a Xantia 1.9TD SX non hydractive

Only advice I have is avoid Lizarte (Spanish I think) as badly made. Bad threads wouldn't fit rear rams.
The only real alternative I have here is Monroe which have worked out ok as regards quality so far, ordering front ones soon.

However, it's too great a coincidence that the only affected wheel is where the accident took place... plus I have changed all 4 disks now and only that one has the intermittent rubbing on the brake pads. It's anyway worth a double check as it's a better alternative to a new hub... If I read correctly, you can't just unscrew...

I have a diesel C3 2002 with 110,000 on the clock. The right indicator turns itself on without being touched.
Sometimes it comes on as soon as key is turned and sometimes when driving down the road.
It can stay on for a few seconds or indefinitely.
Can be prevented by holding the indicator stick forward.
Initially it was once every hour but now...

You wont get Saxo wheels on there buddy... You need wheels with a 5x98 pcd. I cant recall the offset offhand, but before I bought the ulysse wheels I was chasing some nice ALfa wheels. :)

i topped the aircon gas up with one of the bottles from halfords and the clutch on the pump works but the cooling fan on the frount of the engine is supposed to start straight after you turn the ac on in the car but it doesn't any ideas why? thanks

Hi guys,

Took the old girl for her yearly official check up and the same problem from last year has caused the fail.

Rear nearside brake efficiency is below 50% and that is it.

Last year I fitted new seals on the pistons and new brake pipes to R/N/S and R/O/S.

Could I have not completely purged the system of air hence the problem or is it the...

Some of the dash switches on the VSX are very dim (they do actually work), I popped the top off the A/C switch and removed the white diffuser underneath (a right fiddle picking it out with a pin!); there's a green bulb underneath with a snow flake printed on it in black (entirely superfluous as there's a snowflake printed on the transparent panel...

Remote diagnosis of another problem with the (2.1 TD S1) VSX, please. The radiator fans don't come on when the engine gets hot off if the A/C is off. Switch on the A/C, and the fans run at slow speed regardless of engine temperature - as I understand they should? So is this a problem with the Bitron or with the temperature sender? On my 2002 C5 2.0 HDI the temperature and oil temperature gauges move to mid way up the scale when the ignition is turned on and read at the top of the scale when the car's up to running temperature, the car doesn't overheat, is this something that Lexia can reset?

Either a local auto locksmith or might be an ideal time to invest in a Lexia, will be a bit more of an initial outlay but you can use it for other things in the future that you would normally need a dealer for so you should make your money back on it.
Either way you do it you will need the 4 digit immobiliser code for the car that comes on the...

Hi

Help please with a water temp warning light which only comes on when the heater is running (stop light doesn't flash). I checked under the car and found water leaking through a chassis rail at the bulkhead, pretty much beneath the heater location. Anyone had a similar problem and is it likely to be heater rad or the pipework to/from it?

Any half decent motorfactor should be able to make you up a metal brake pipe, as for the leaking heater matrix Citroen recommend Forte stop leak, if you are lucky it might work, if you are losing coolant you need to be very careful.

2001 C5 HDI (90), just a niggle that perhaps one of you may be able to help solve. When coming to a junction and applying the brake everything is fine, however just as I'm about to take off and release the brake to transfer to throttle the revs drop slightly almost causing a stall. Any ideas?

I want to remove the spring bit from my xantia brake pedal, I can feel the plastic plunger bit and wobble it about but dont want to break it, ISTR being told it just pulls out ? anyone done one recently ?

Hi gang,

My series 1 1.9 diesel wouldn't start today, so I jump started it. Unfortunately this caused the alarm to start going off. The siren was silenced but the headlights keep flashing for about 30 seconds whenever I open the door. I don't have an alarm fob, just a key. Is there any fuse I can just pull out?

If the car has Hydroactive suspension, broken suspension sphere will still be covered from hydroactive one. Also with the years, that link-clamp attached to stabilisation rod and heigh corrector via plastic rod get weak because of the rust and car noral level get bad. Check to be sure ;)

Looks (well sounds!) like I am in the market for a new crank pulley - any recommendations on suppliers? I know they are available on e-bay, but are they any good?

Hi All, my car has developed an increasingly alarming creaking noise at the front right.

Here's what it probably isn't:

P bush - replaced a couple of months ago
ball joint - replaced a couple of months ago
Steering rod - makes no noise when turned on the spot
Driveshaft - OS replaced a couple of months ago
Suspension strut - no noise when going...

As I've mentioned elsewhere, we are looking for a long-term replacement for the green Xantia 1.9 sx estate. The recently acquired blue VSX is fairly high mileage (191k) and the body is a bit battered. Having sampled the 2.1s effortless power and given its reputed frugality, I'd be tempted by another, tidier one. Jim has suggested an XM.

Hi,
I've a xsara HDI and when you're driving in daytime with lights off sometimes the green headlight indicator starts flashing on the dashboard. Turning the lights on and then off sorts the problem but it reoccurs later.
Any ideas?

Im not familliar with the Xsara alarm system, but if its like the Xantia and not reset properly, for example after a battery disconnection, the headlights flash along with the alarm sounder, though a lot of Xantia alarm sounders dont work, or are switched off...

I got my first error code last night while driving home from a mates house and would be grateful for any guidance as to exactly what it means and how to resolve.

While doing 70 (not 80 officer honest!) on motorway the service light and engine warning light popped up and it said Engine-exhaust emission control fault . I restarted the car this...

My 2004 c3 1.4 sensodrive has got the dreaded snowflake.

Local Citroen garage have said fault code is around the actuator and wiring harness but that the gearbox also sounds very noisy.

They say £3000 for new gearbox, actuators etc and that it is not economical to fix.

Also say exhaust will need replacing soon.

80,000 on the clock so not...
