This is probably what you need;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-XANTI ... 4aaa26a5fd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However, I would strongly suggest you check the cables and spool first. If they are damaged, I would recommend you get one of these kits instead;

Thanks for your replies, I had spotted these repair kits on ebay but wondered how big a job it is to get to the mechanism with all the electrics within the door panel, I have spoken to a garage about it and they have suggested that it would need a new regulator with new cables attached, but that's without knowing whats gone bang behind the panel. maybe they are taking the easy option at my expense.

The most likely failure is the clip in the first link I posted. It is a common (well, sort of; not a yearly thing) fault, and means that the window is no longer attached to the mechanism. Sometimes it is the stem that fails (so the cables remain intact), but sometimes the clip lets go of a cable, and this is where they can get kinked (hence my posting the second link). It will take about an hour to repair the mechanism, depending on which fault you have.

The clips do go with a bang.
Taking the door card off to inspect is easy, just requires some a set of torx keys. Long slim ones are best as there are 2 bolts recessed in the armrest that my 3/8 torx sockets are to wide for.
You'll either find the remains of the plastic clip in the bottom which is great and a 2 min repair from there. Or you'll find wires everywhere which is new regulator.
If you've pressed the window button after it went bang expect both to be knackered though.
It's not a hard job really, one I'd certainly take on if you're a bit hands on with stuff.

i had pretty much what sounds you have on mine earlier this year, here is my thread about it with a link to one of the others who have done a more indepth version of how to replace it!
http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... =3&t=50321" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i would say, Dont buy the cheapest clip, mine pings off quite frequently resulting in door card having to come off, arms scraped by the inside of the speaker hole and pushing the spring clip back on! got it down to 10 minutes now! ;-) :-D

You can follow Haynes on this. Don't be tempted to remove glass and front guide, as if it slips the top rear glass locating clip will almost certainly break. Having removed the holding clip from the bottom of the window, tape it up or use a "stick" to keep it up out of the way. My experience on that the 2 I have had go is it's the plastic slider that fractures and lets go of a cable - not a good design really; not enough meat and a definite stress point! Confusingly the cables both exit the drum in the centre. As has been said, fairly simple job, once you have the parts! I am waiting for both clips for mine at the moment, wire coat hanger holding window in place. First one went about 4 years ago on a dual carriageway without warning. The bang was so loud we thought we had been shot at; until the window slowly started to descend.... HTH

Whilst on this subject, can anyone confirm whether or not all clips/sliders are the same for Mk1 and Mk2, other than handed left/right...

The clips for holding the glass (at least) changed at some point, but I am not sure if it was at the MK 2 introduction.

The ordered glass clips came yesterday and the spigot is at right angles to the metal slider. Speil said "XANTIA 1990 – 2002 ALL(models) 2/3 - 4/5 DOORS :shock: . ...er no. Contacted seller on receipt, awaiting reply.
Think I said in another post "caveat emptor" - obviously hoist with my own petard.... was still looking for the door? :roll:

The picture of that clip on eBay is for series 1 Xantia. The series 2 Xantia from about 1998 onward uses a different clip, they are not interchangeable.

They are also handed, left or right side of the vehicle. Doors on the same side use the same handed clip.

See item 320682239580 on eBay. This clip does fit the series 2 Xantia (also fits some other PSA vehicles).

Electron, that looks like the one - however the listing says it fits all from 1993 to 2003, so are series 1 and 2 the same clip???
. After investigation, the clip I was sent may be for a saxo....??

Electron, are the clips front and rear identical? I realise that they are handed left/right...
