Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I hope that I can pick your brains, about why my wife’s 2005, petrol C5 II estate fails to start. It’s a 2.0litre VTR, with the EW10a engine, so not the earlier HPi version.

The fusebox, under the bonnet, had failed internally. A new one £120 ish + VAT, fixed the problem.

I know that the battery is under the passenger seat(never seen it though)on my 2000 Picasso 1.6 and to remove it I have to tilt the passenger seat (apparantly) but pushing and pulling the levers does not seem to make any diffence, the seat is solid as a rock. I only want to check the battery connections.... can anybody offer any practical advice?

Hi everyone, I've had my C5hdi estate for just on 12 months and have had an annoying leak around the top of the fuel filter. Last weekend, in sheer desperation, I took it with a small rubber hammer gently tapping the ring with the engine running and the seal finaly reseated in the groove and no more leaking filter. Hope this helps someone fix this...

Unfortunately, I still haven't learned the different transmissions used on PugCit vehicles, it would be useful to know what's called what.

A head light bulb went on the way to work on Thursday morning - then when I checked it, realised that the sidelight was out as well. Thinking back I am sure I have never changed a Xantia side light in 11 years / 210k!! I also had to change a number plate bulb - again a first. Perhaps I should change the other 2 before they go as well :) The number...

Our C3 1.4hdi 70 bhp (old shape) is showing the first signs of clutch slip at 73k miles. Last time I had to do a clutch on a car was a Mk1 Cortina in 197x something but we have had 2 children learn to drive on this one so that won't have helped.

3 questions:

Am I right in thinking that is hydraulic non adjustable operation, so its likely to be...

I'm looking at replacing my old Peugeot 406 with a newer C5 1.6Hdi. I notice that the CO2 emissions are are slightly lower from 1st June 2006 putting it in a lower tax class. Peugeot 407s are the same albeit from October 2006.

Does anyone know what's behind this. Was the engine improved?

Hi, I have a 2 button key fob for my picasso 2.0l hdi 2002.

I can lock the car with the bigger of the 2 buttons, but not open it. The only way to open it is with the smaller button.
Is this normal?

Hi
I have a Saxo 1.1 2001, I have been doing up , I wanted to check the timing belt was ok so i wipped the top cover off and was turning the engine over by the cam pulley, I know you should nt do that and i think i maybe learning why.
the car would nt start and i couldnt work out why, i have now taken the belt covers off and i think the timing...

It does indeed and make sure you use good ones. I had some eBay specials once that stretched too much, i think you can guess what the end result was.

also mind the pisron liners protrude the correct amount, otherwise you will not be able to stop the coolant going straight into the combustion chambersv :yikes: , then out the exhaust :roll: :wink:...

Return trip from Woking was as good as it gets. The C5 was again supremely comfortable and able . No real hold ups. A couple of 50 mph sections of the M6 but no queues on the Northbound journey.
Woking to Carlisle(stopover)...317 miles. 4 hours and 35 minutes....40.3 MPG.
Carlisle to Inverurie....248 miles. 3 hours and 38 minutes...39.7 MPG.

Hi, I have a 1954 H van, with a traction engine, will this need a fuel additive, or will the valve seats be OK with normal unleaded? :?

It depends how much lead memory is left in your seats. If it has been run for years with unleaded then there will be some/much valve recession. I ran a 1961 Land Rover for about 4 yrs with a non leaded head. I put a splash of additive in now and again.
I bet your engine doesn't work quite as well as factory intended with this crap Ethanol...

Other than getting off aux and timing belts anyone have any general tips on removing the high pressure fuel pump please. Are there any obscure tools or any parts I need to replace?

I'm taking it off to have a go at trying to seal one of the cylinder housings.

Hi, my 1996 Xantia TD. The top of the LHM reservoir seems to be leaking a small amount of fluid. I guess there is a seal on the top? would cleaning it resolve the leak or do I need to change the seal? thanks inadvance Terry. :?

i would have thought if your concerned about the messy tank top, you could just re/profile the securing rod/clamp, so it holds the riser down more firmly

by blowing into the breather hose in the filler cap,

Well its the time of year just when I need the rear window de-misted, and or course it dont work!
So Ive done all checks, stripped down and removed rear break light cover, and have got 14v+ to terminal block (c5 2006 est). So fuse and relay OK.
I cant see any breaks in window element, but the actual connection where it goes into rear screen are...

Have you checked the 'earthy' end of the demister for volts, shouldn't be any if there are check the connection. The window relay problem is probably due to corrosion round the switch, a very common fault, mine has never worked but I have never felt the need to use it.

Im thinking of getting a remap as with 109bhp I struggle occasionally when towing.

chaps, got the MOT tomorrow,,, was positive about it until I popped head under rear of car tonight..

Xsaras , you gotta love them.

We have 4 in our family.

We have 2 family cars - a Phase 2 hdi Estate - lovely car - but airbag symbol always lit.

A phase 1, 1.9 DW8 Estate - smokes and misfires every morning - then runs great.

One of our 19 year old sons has just done an engine swap - now his diesel pump doesn't like his key - see other posts....

Hi,

I have recently purchased a 54 Citroën Relay 2.0 HDi that I am planning on converting into a camper. Before I plough on into the conversion I wanted to give the van a service. So far I have changed the oil and the air and oil filters, have purchased a fuel filter and have topped up the coolant (but just with water).

Hi, I can not remember how many litres of coolant my ZX , 1995 D , holds, just about to change coolant, any help greatfully received, cheers Terry. :oops:

At the dealership it tended to be 3litres for petrol and 4litres for diesel units. That's just what parts handed out when you went to collect your service items, filters etc. Was always that way as far as I remember.

To be honest 3 is probably sufficient in most cases anyway (famous last words!) I think if you flush out all the old properly etc.

I had replaced two rear spheres (left and right) and front main sphere, purchased original citroen (grey in colour) sphere with exact spec for my car which are 30 for the rear and 62 for main. Get them installed and done citroebics etc. Whats bugging me is the ride is not that soft as I remember it was...

So, the rear sphere doesnt affect the tick rate, Im thinking it could be leaking somewhere or maybe the regulator itself, I will let you guys know if I found out anything, thanks for the info.

we have just acquired a ZX 1.8i Estate , mega tidy, 4 new tyres, with towbar but reputedly blown engine having burst a rad hose.

We got the car in return for doing a clutch for someone.

They didn't change anything else, only the motor, I think it still even has the transmission and certainly the suspension, they literally JUST swapped the motor. firstly what engine/year might help,

usually if the aux belt fails it can worm its way into the cam belt area/housing, and cause the cam belt to fail

hi guys.been a while since i on here coz everything has been going great
and still is.just wondering does anyone know of a quick and easy way to
get the stains of suncream lotion off the paint work of the car.it looks

hi,
I plan to rub down some rust that is round the boot opener on my C5 2.2 hdi exclusive...... log book says it is grey,couldn't find a match in halfords,though they do mix paint. I have been told there is a code somewhere that I can tale with me and they can mix paint using that code? I just need to know where to look to find this...

as u can see mine needs replaced, is the cracked part a bearing and are they available to buy?

when these bearings get all rusty they restrict the spring rotating with the strut, so you get a twanging noise as the spring is wound up then releases

its a twanging sound i have so the bearing should fix that fingers crossed

Can anyone help. I have 56 xsara Picasso and the bulb has blown on my climate control panel so I cant see if the air con/heated rear screen is on or off. I have spoken to a Citroen main dealer and they told me that it is a labour intensive job. I have dabbled with my Picasso. So can anyone shed any light on my dilemma to avoid enormous expense.

Hi all.
Please forgive a naive question, I have just got an 08 2.2 Relay, and I cant for the life of me find the fuse for the rear nearside light, I gave up trying to find the fuse for the number plate lights so traced the live feed to the side lights and replaced the feed to the number plate bulbs with a spur off the side light, worked for 2 secs...

Hello Im new- go easy on me!

The radio works fine but the CD doesnt, it just says CD loading on the main screen. Any ideas? Ive tried a CD cleaning disc to no avail.

Also my climate control screen- the bulb has gone. Is there anywhere in the Manchester/NWest or WYorks area that can pull it out, open and fit a new bulb (s)??

If 28mpg from your Activa is a combined figure, its no better than what I got in my 2.0i Auto. It never dipped below 24mpg in constant urban stop/start 30mph driving, motorway was 33mpg, combined would have averaged around...

Hi all,

There is often discussion on here regarding the removal of diesel particulate filters. Personally, I think there are great and the difference between the emissions of my X7 C5, which has a FAP, and my wife's diesel Nissan Note, which doesn't, is amazing. I have thoughtlessly started up my car in the garage without even been aware of it....

I don't see how the need to handle Eolys fludi correctly suggests that it causes 'the same problems' as it is designed to cure.

Firstly, aren't the warnings on a bottle of Eolys only the same as those found on a bottle of white spirit? This is hardly high-grade toxic material!

Secondly, only a few ml of the fluid are introduced into each tank...

hi my rear spheres are seized i have made a tool to remove them and bent it and pulled a muscle in my back has anyone got any ideas on how to remove them

I have one of the ebay ones and can confirm it works very well. As xac says the secret is to be able to whack it with a hammer. I have been changing spheres for nearly 30 years and never been able to remove them as easily as this tool does.

I have had this Berlingo since the summer. I couldn't stand another winter of freezing temperatures in the Roomster which was a shame because its a nice motor. This morning was the first really cold morning of the season. At 6am coming out of work the car had a good layer of ice all over it. I started the engine and within a few minutes the ice...

Hi all, I have posted this problem before but am still no clearer. I have a 1.9 2005 C15 that has had a variety of issues, which now are mostly sorted. The only problem I have now is that I have had to replace a diode that I discovered in amongst a load of wires under the air filter. I knew that the diode was a 1N4007 diode but I am confused about...

Any ideas why when I get in my car in this damp cold weather my screen is so misted up on the inside?

Pollen filter not to old, no water leaking in the car and aircon works fine. Should I be doing something when parked up like leave recirculation on or switch off ac a few mins before parking up.

Afternoon all!

A month ago, I took the plunge and bought a 2000 plate Xantia HDi LX. I'd previously promised never to enter French car ownership after owning a 406 that started off fine, then degenerated into a pile of faults within three months, ended by a conrod making a break for freedom and exiting stage left. :(

What would your diagnosis be for heavy steering when turning the wheel quickly at a standstill? Belts are fine and the LHM fluid has been changed to see if that improved anything. Slowly turning the wheel is okay too, most noticeable at low revs.

Fuel tank seems to be alright now, although I think the nose is a bit high, I remember seeing a guide...

Hi All: Owner of an auto estate 2.2 hdi - purchased in 2007 after my SUV was stolen - did a search on the least and hardest car to nick and the C5 came out tops with me etc. The car ran pretty good - well at least it did to me, some 30K miles later i started to get the Eolys fault, so bought some Eolys and filled the tank up, but the remainder...

Hi, I have the above motor bought from a friend as a non runner. He's had poor starting for a while, but now it won't start. The RAC man says it's the High Pressure pump. Before I replace this I am checking other options to clarify.
I have fitted new fuel filter. Air filter is like new.
I can hear the primer pump running for 2/3 secs, and also...

Need to get new ones as the locking key is getting worn and one of the 3 pins has broken. Got the part number from Citroen (new ones would cost £45) but wondering if there are any compatible ones out there.

Hi all,

I own a Citroen C5 2.0L 5 doors, year 2007. Is this a car that can last me for the next 10 years or so? Tell me more, if you have own a Citroen for more than 10~15 years.

Going by your experience and Citroen car making history, are spare parts easily obtainable then? What are the parts that are likely to fall apart that I need to keep...

The newer ones do seem to be more complicated and difficult to repair so the answer is I don't know. My C5 is already 12 years old with nearly 200,000 miles and its going fine, even has original clutch/DMF so I shall be sticking to that for a while yet, in fact if I have to replace it, another pre 04 2.0.Hdi will be the preferred option.
