Dispatch, new engine...

Post by The Dog Walker »

So, bit the bullet and went for a remanufactured engine rather than a second hand one (head gasket gone). New clutch plate, new heating matrix, new radiator, injectors sent off for testing, fuel pump tested and reprogrammed, etc, etc.

First morning yesterday and it was cold and it didn't want to start. When it did it sounded like a pig. Banging noise that subsided as it heated up. Acceleration in third gear is still quite jumpy and reversing up hill on a gravel drive it conked out 3 times. This morning was warm we so it started but still sounded rough to begin with.

It's cost me a small fortune so far, any thoughts ? I've tried researching it a little and lots of suggestions for injectors, but they've been tested ??

Cheers.

I would take it back to where you got the engine, presumably it has a guarantee.

The engine was delivered to and fitted by my garage. It's going back in for an oil and filter change shortly. It was doing this before the new engine was fitted.

This isn't mine, but it's exactly what mine sounds like.

If its a 1.9 i would have the pump checked/reconed and replace the injectors.

Ahh thats different, I thought we were talking about an Hdi engine. Did they use the injectors and pump from your old engine?

Pump was sent off to be checked and reprogrammed ? And injector sent off to be checked. Both from old engine.

It sounds as though the injector with the sensor on it is not right, try disconnecting the lead and see if it makes any difference.

Try disconnecting it when it's cold and banging ?

A double check of the pump timing would be advisable.
