The Xantia magic

Post by lancia58 »

Hi

Just wanted to share with you my experience of looking for a newer car. For the last 6 years I have been driving my Xantia daily. It has 140K miles but 100% rust free, no LHM leakage and drives fluently. Since it is 16 years old I decided to buy a newer car but keeping the Xantia. I have tried many cars, all types of C5s Peugeot 407,308,508, VW golf, Alfa GT, Alfa 159 and many others. I can not explain why but the there is something in the Xantia that IMHO makes it a better car. I ended up buying a 2009 C4 THP with only 20K miles. Since I bought it I find myself driving the Xantia more frequently than the C4. Although the C4 is fun to drive ( the THP engine is great ) , the Xantia handles better , more comfortable , and it has this unexplained magic.

Well, you've not given the Xantia a lot of competition with that load of rubbish have you?

Fourthed! (is there such a word?)

For the last two years OH and myself have discussed changing Snoopy, looked at other cars but the magic is not there, I've owned her for 15 years and still get a thrill from driving her. OH is the same with the XM.

I know there's nothing that can ever replace an Activa...

Thanks hope some day to be in the UK and driving a red Activa :-D .( have been 4 times in the UK , but that was before owning a Xantia ) BTW there were two in Israel both owned by the local PSA importer. One is wrecked and the other one is still on the road. Both are turbo CT. Tried to locate the one that is still driven but cannot

I'd love to drive an Activa - there are none in Thailand to my knowledge.
Haven't visited the UK since my nephew got married, probably late 1990's, so I don't suppose I ever will.

I would give anyone a run in the activa, once it's fixed of course, and I would love to visit Thailand, but I'm afraid to say I'm not driving it all the way over there at 22mpg [emoji12] [emoji13] [emoji23]
