Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hello how do I remove the top altantor pulley from a car with the belt allready off?

Its the black plastic one the reason why mine got lumps in it and will need changing its not smooth. Ive seen one on anther car it spins like hell and smooth also the belt of the car.

Oh I see.

You may have to either take the mounting bolts out of it if you can get at them to move it about and / or take the top engine mounting off so you can push the engine back / up or down a little bit which may give clearance. Put a jack / block of wood under the sump area if doing this before taking the mounting off.

Am I right in assuming that like a lot of diesel engine families from the 80s, there is significant differences in the engine between the XUD n/a and turbo units?

Like, VW enignes for example have major difference like under-piston oil sprayers and various other things, so you cannot just swap the inlet/exhaust systems and fuel pump over to make...

The car leaking still...... well when I got it the aerial was leaking so I fixed that cause there was water on all the floor I could have fish in there!

The next problem the back doors but Ive ajusted those so now those dont leak!

Now the passanger front door leaks somebody cut the metal lip from underneath were the rubber goes near the dash in...

Its not hard were the water showing just above that the sound insulation has abit that sticks out. Its coming out of that.

But now Ive found out some idout has used the wrong screws on the mirror perfectic. So I think that might be causing it to go in the door!

I serviced my friends 307 but Where is the fuel filter ? Its a 1.4 16v 307 its a 2005 car, Usually i expect it down by the back wheel but no sign, I followed the fuel pipe from the tank then it goes in a box section along the botom of the car ! Am i blind #-o

Unless you have good engineering facilities I wouldn't try repairing the gearbox, I used to dismantle/stroke reassemble them with a vice, lump hammer and various spacers and drifts, I don't know that you can do that now, if it is the gearbox a seconhand one would be the best way to go although unless the noise is really excessive I wouldn't worry...

Hello I need to remove the door cards on the front. Ive taken the speaker cover of, 3 torx screws out 1 under switch window, other door handle then other near mirror.

The only thing holding the door cards on now is the door handle or surround?

Guys,

Having a spot of bother with a 306 HDi and need your advice...

The car was running ok on Wednesday, started ok, was driving ok, etc but the cabin heater stopped working when my brother was out in it.

He tried to start it tonight and it's turning over no problem at all. However it just won't fire.

Hi, looking for a little advice on a couple of problems I've got with a 206 I've just purchased.

Firstly, it won't engage 5th gear. All other gears are fine and the clutch seems ok too. I've tried it with the engine running and not running, with the clutch engaged whilst not running and also not engaged, it feels like it just hits a barrier. I...

The 5th gear on the HDI seems a bit weak, have had several 206's with the 5th gear casing worn through by the wheel arch liner, and the oil gradually leaks out. 5th gear is the 1st to get starved if the oil level drops due to diff seals leaking.
Changing the whole box is madness if the only problem is 5th, you can take the 5th gear casing off in 2...

I found somebody there willing to change the cambelt, pulleys, water pump, altanator belt and pulleys for £100.

Ive got the parts my self the cheapest I could get them all.

What prices have people been finding?

The criteria is not how much you paid for the car initially Pete, it is more how much the job costs to do.
If the mechanic has to buy the parts there is a cost involved for him, so he has to put a markup on that price and add VAT to it.
Then there is the time involved. He has to charge an hourly rate to cover his fixed costs and make a profit....

Ugh, man, the 305 is really beginning to annoy me.

Its a great car, probably the best workhorse I have owned so far (its better on fuel and more powerful then a diesel passat wagon, which was my favorite till then).

But the fact that nobody seems to know much about parts is annoying. Its like the 305 did not exist!

I suspect a 2.0HDI would be easier actually, probably from a 306. You want a 90bhp because I think that they had the same BE3 transmission as the 305. The 110bhp has a totally different ML5 transmission with cable gear change and a hydraulic clutch

The CV gaiter has split on my 806 (outer joint, wheel end).
Anyone know if you can separate the CV joint from the drive shaft? or is it done at the other end (I think it's called a triplex joint). Do you just hammer them off like my old 305 or is there some other trick?

I am thinking of purchasing a 2003 peugeot 307 with an AL4 transmission, the vehicle has currently 80,000 miles. The previous owner has had the vehicle since new and has only had to change the solenoids. After testing the car both cold and hot there doesnt seem to be any tranny issues. However after researching online all i see are horror stories....

The pressure regulator going faulty on the 2.0L 8V 110 usually causes over-pressure not low pressure.
The symptoms you describe are usually caused by low rail pressure at cranking speed. This applies to all CR diesels. Get the engine to turn over faster. It always cranks over faster once...

Hope somebody can help me?

Been a while, so hello first.

The mother in laws 206 needs a head gasket. ( leaking oil ) I was just wondering if you need to change the head bolts on these engines. Are they stretch type bolts?

Also what are the torque settings for the petrol 1.4 8v TU engine?

In my experience no need to replace the bolts.

Check the head for flatness with a true straight edge and also check for pitting.

I done exactly the same job a few years ago on the same engine....the engine is still going strong with no oil leaks.

Hi guys, i'm hoping someone can help a new member with his 306 HDi 90 engine. Hi All,

Could someone please tell me what I need to do for an interim (6000 mile) service on a 306 1.4 Petrol. It's a 1997 Model. All I know is it's blue, a 1.4 and has aircon.

I serviced it properly (oil, plugs, new HT leads, new filters inc fuel, new pads, changed brake fluid ) when my friend bought it 6000 miles ago. I reset the service...

Thought the bulb had gone- as you do, fitted another still no light, old bulb tested OK. I have a resistance of about 25 ohms from one lead to earth and about 50 on the other, is there a relay for one side - or is it something horrible?

I seem to remember the later ones have some kind of inlet manifold solenoid / variable manifold. I wonder if that's 'stuck' open it will be poor initially.

I realise its a V6 unit but if you think of say a 1.6 8v compared to a 1.6 16v, the 8v will be superior torque at lower revs whereas the 16v will be better than the 8v higher up the rev range....

Hi, my wifes 306 The accelerator cable is starting to stick ! when you press it , sometimes it stays fully down or half way up ! is it a simple case of lubricating it ? or maybe replacing it? any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think if you can clarify the engine type it will help loads or possibly a few pictures of the engine bay may help so we know what unit is actually fitted.

That will help enormously. However, having a Bosch chances are it's an XUD.

Fundamentally, the design of the pump means there's nothing internal that can really cause a misfire on one...

Hi all,
I need to replace the clutch on my 406 2.1 td but have you seen the price of them,
so I've been thinking as the 110 HDI uses the same gearbox and is the same power can any of the parts be swapped, ie plate, pressure plate as these are the expencive bits.

BUT...The GSF/Euro one will be over the counter,quality, and will be the correct part fully guaranteed.The E Bay one will turn up by post from who knows where, wont know if its correct untill you unpack it and will probably be a crap Chinese rebuilt part.Six to Seven hours graft and all you would save is £80? I would like to ask you for a favour. As you can hear in the video, my car is producing metal rattling noise when turning slightly to the right. Usually when I take my foot off the gas pedal in higher RPM. The video is taped when driving up to the hill.

You can hear it in the video, but I think headphones are necessary . It is mid-higher frequency rattling sound ~1000Hz.

And just to clarify this thing. This rattling noise in somehow connected to the wheels because it goes away immediately without any delay...

A friend of mine has a 1999 306 HDI that starts fine cold and runs OK. But once you stop the engine say to buy Diesel at a garage the engine will not start unless cranked for about 5 mins. If you wait for the engine to cool it starts instantly.
I have not had a look at the car yet so wondered if anyone has had the same problem.

Hi all,

Yesterday I was driving the van and about 20minutes into my drive I realized the fuel gauge, temperature gauge and rev counter had stopped working. Then when I went to make a turn the indicators were not working either. Nor was the stereo.

Talking to the FedEx driver today - he has 15 309 GTis, can't get enough of them

He buys them, restores them and then sells them on. His problem at the moment is he can't get sills for them

The remote central locking works fine sometimes then other times like now wont. The 2 rear doors and passanger front door go down the catch. But the driver side wont sometimes and have to use the key then remote.

Is the central locking motor the problem or anything else?

Might just be the actuator microswitch at fault if its intermittent. The clue here is the fact it works if you use the other method of locking / unlocking it, ie: remote or key. I'd go for an actuator as a first step if you can get one cheaply. My 106 does this, it works fine with the remote but you have to unlock / lock about 10 times with the...

Hi, newbie to this forum so hello all and hope somebody can help.

My daughter has a 307 CC 2.0 S Petrol 2006. Just recently the car has started stalling when pressing the throttle from tickover. It starts fine and ticks over at 800 odd revs. However, as soon as you apply some throttle the engine dies. Starts again ok and there are no fault lights...

That makes sense. If you press the throttle slowly the raves pick up ok. If you press it as normal I.e. to pull away, it either drops away or struggles to pick up.

Could be fuel starvation I suppose but I am not sure if this model has a serviceable fuel filter oor not. Seem to read different opinions on the forums. This is a 2006 2.0 S petrol...

Still trying to decide what to do about MOT failure 309 1.3l.

2 possible alternatives:

309 'trio 1.9l diesel with 197k on the clock. (£395)

or

205 automatic 1.6 with 43k on the clock. (£450)

Petrol consumption is big issue for us as do small trips for work mainly, any idea which would be most economical on that front?
