Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

My 2002 Citroen C5 always had more oomph than my 2003 Pug 406 yet they both have the same DW10 engine (no particulate filter). The Pug starts and runs OK but when I put my gogo foot to the floor (especially in 3rd gear) there is no immediate response - revs stay the same as does the speed, then after maybe 10 seconds or so -...

i have now tracked down an oil leak in the dw8 from the cam cove/box which is fixed to the sump pan, which has a pinhole and is losing a fair amount of oil.

my problem is sourcing the sump pan and gaskets, could someone advise from which other models would the sump pan fit my 306 dw8 without a/c and what difference is there between the lot - xud,...

From memory generally the steel pressed sumps are fitted to models without AC and the alloy sumps* fitted to those with AC, although the results can vary a bit.

*Some of the alloy ones have surprisingly fragile sump threads too, not many thankfully. :oops:

I have a 1996 306 d turbo which I have owned for 12 years. Could any one please tell me the name of the hose that goes from the lucas fuel pump to the intercooler. Mine has a split in it leaving the car seriously down on power.

as long as the hose is airtight and not too small in diameter, or too soft that it flexes, then it shouldn't be an issue. i'll get a part number for one though if you want?

1574C4 seems to be the one for both bosch and lucas pumps, as well as a few other uses :shock:

In my haynes manual there is a picture of some restraining cables that keep the front coil springs compressed once the wheel's been jacked up. I reckon I would find these very useful and that they would fit my Citroen c15D van as well.

Anyone ever used them or know how to get some?

I have a Peugeot 207, 2007 Diesel model which won’t start. I put it into the garage 3 weeks ago as it wouldn’t start and they replaced the starter and a leaking coolant hose. first with W7 and I even bought an XP laptop especially for it now, fresh install still c :cry: not read any ecu.
I installed the Diagbox and updated it to 7.38 according to the video and pdf instructions provided with it.

Hi,
Just wondering if there is someone out there who has had experience of what is going on with my Pug. For some time now the rev counter has not functioned nor has the ac. I noticed the rev counter sometimes kicks in during spells of wet weather and not during dry weather. I have also discovered that the ac works when the rev counter is on...

I think the final tale tale signs were when it did a impression of a steam train thick white oily smoke for a quaters of a mile behind !!!!!

when ours went on the 806 1.9tdi, we were fortunate to get one off a Xantia 1.9tdi but the 2.0hdi is different beast, dont know if yours is a 90 or 110BHP but i believe the 406 has the same engine plumbed in . if you get the part number for or off your turbo i'll match it against the one put on my old 406 2.0 hdi

Hi All,

I wondered if someone could help. I got the code P0100 come up on my car followed by sluggishness and hesitation. So i checked the loom to the MAF which seems and then changed the MAF to a known working one, reset ECU and this has come back. I do have a reduction in MPG and it smokes If that makes any difference?

My rear brake lights on my other 306 hdi are staying on when the ignition turned to the turn before starting. Also when the car started the lights also stay on the rear window light and 2 back lights stay on also.

There a click from the starter motor also as well.

Just finished a head gasket and head reconditioning job without having a garage - fully dependent on the weather. Thanks for some great weather in the last weeks. Have put the pieces of the puzzle back together and turned that key for the first time. Always a dodgy feeling... will it disintegrate? Smoke, stutter....?

hi could any one help traveling home tonight i noticed that my fuel gauge had gone to full and stops there does drop to empty put as soon as you turn ing on goes stright to full temp gauge is normal has anyone had similar faul dont fancy taking the tank off again to get the sender unit out a few months ago i changed the thing!!

Silly question this, but I thought changing the Fuel filter on the Peugeot would be a 2 min job but I just couldn't get the clip on pipes to come off the old filter under the car. Maybe my fingers are too sausage like but the clips would not go in enough to release from the ends! Scared of breaking the pipes if I am too heavy handed so gave up!...

Slightly surprised you have one as some later models did without. :)

The 'quick release' clips there is a proper tool however all I *ever* used for these were flat type pliers:

Hi Folks

Couple of questions relating to the little Pug 206 1.1 I bought for my daughter. Its a 51 reg Y plate, 63k miles. Base model - no frills. Its just had £450 spent on new exhaust, brake pads, front suspension arms, strut top bearings, tyres and came with a years MOT. Have so far been underneath and rust proofed what was looking like it...

Compared to the BE3 units (for the XUD etc) the smaller box's the MA units do feel a bit notchy yes. Is there too much play in it ?

A common but often overlooked cause of play is the two tiny bushes fitted into the base of the gearlever, I recall on mine I changed the linkages (they were worn to be fair) but it was still sloppy...

Helping neighbour get his car back on the road after many, many years of neglect (he'd given up hope of DIY repair). After gentle encouragement and advise, he bravely bought all the parts in and we waited for warmer weather. She's all but ready for presenting to the MOT though I'm not 100% confident there's not a problem with the coolant system...

Theres another on the thermostat housing too, allen key shaped aswell as on top of the radiator (same style as the drain screw). The best way is to cut the bottom off a 2 litre pop bottle and stick it into the rad, then keep the level high whilst opening the bleed screws and you possibly get bubbles out of the top too.

Not been on for a while but need some help.
My daughters W plate 206 1.4 8v petrol is playing up, at first it was stalling on overrun, I took the ICV out, cleaned it and all was well.
Today it's been revving to 2k all the time, I checked the ICV (swapped for a known good one), the revving stopped but it was back to stalling and was missing until...

he recently brought the car with the fault it appears like a worn wheel bearing on the passenger side of the car
on start off it appears like a vibration then a humming noise up to about 50 mph above this it seems to disappear also when you turn the steering to the right it will disappear steering...

New to the forum, my 1.4 hdi 208 came up about 2000 miles ago with a few fault codes for low turbo pressure and p codes suggesting it was the turbo solenoid. The waste gate actuator goes crazy Which is usually solenoid. I read the fault codes on diagbox and printing them off as I thought that would be ok, but apparently the code needs to be on to...

Hi Richard, slight loss in power and slight from in mpg as the turbo doesn't fully boost which I think is the cause of slight lack in power.

Yes the later one then. The early ones were just a clock in the middle of it and nothing else (the cover on those popped off a bit easier)

Does anyone know which version of Diagbox suits a 508? I have been looking online and some claim to suit the 508 although the 5008 is listed but their screen shots show no mention of the 508 and some do not list it. Do not want to waste money on a piece of software to be of no use.

Hi, currently i am changing my car engine to a XUD one (can be searched in this forum).
And i am planning to change my gearbox, to a new gearbox (longer than the original dw8 one).

Information for the DW8 one is the following:

TRANSMISSION BVM5
GEARBOX (CHARACTERISTICS) GEARBOX BE4 N
FINAL DRIVE RATIO REAR AXLE HYPOID GEARSET 19 X 72...

Fuel gauge not working on above car. I removed plug on top of sender unit on fuel tank and no voltage registered on my meter. I then put a test light to it and no light up. Fuses are ok.
Could be the actual gauge of course. BOL not too helpful- surprise.
Any ideas please??

Same saga- months in passing
Once again , checked all fuses, examined all the wiring loom covers for signs of rubbing against metal and shorting out- nothing.
There are some heavy white wires and another colour going to like a connector bolted to just under steering column--they look as if they could contain a fuse, but can't get them apart.

Hi, the temp gauge on my 1.6 HDi 3008 moves up to 90 degrees once te car has warmed up for about 5 mins but then it keeps moving between 70 and 90. Is this normal or is it a fault with the temp sensor/sender?

Thanks for the replies, Richard is correct. I also asked the question on the peugeot forum and other 3008 owners have the same thing and one user read the ECU and the movement of 90 to the next mark down is only a couple of degrees and apparently it's normal. I'll keep an eye on it and if it proves to be an issue I'll take it back to the dealer as...

KKK and 2 garret.
i don't like the KKK ones.

The car is a 307SW hdi 136, engine code RHR, on an 05 plate

This seems to be an intermittent fault, but has happened several times recently. It pops up an antipollution message, but reports on planet as P2122 permenant fault: intake air heating solenoid short to earth

Googleing reported a couple of pages where there is supposed to be a 'heater...

There are two vacuum solenoids that live on a bracket above the starter, related to the 'air doser' that allows bypass of the intercooler (intake air heater ?) and these were held in place with a mess of tie-wraps when i got the car. The solenoids both measure fine for resistance with a meter, and the connectors...

We have a 2006 2.0HDi 807 (63000 miles), with the BVA-AL4 AT8 auto box. On Thursday, my wife was doing the school run, and She had faults show up on the OBC saying GEARBOX FAULT and then SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM FAULTY , and before she could stop, she lost all gears.

my friends 307 as above
the rad fan sometimes runs for quite some time after the engine is switched off, even if the engine is virtually stone cold,

then sometimes the fan does not do this for months, then all of a sudden it starts doing it again,

i do know the wires at the aircon pump are broken, but i would have thought if this had any bearing...

just had this heap in to have another look at it, as it is flattening the battery again,

it is now smoking a lot from the exhaust no metter what revs you have on,

i held it at 3.5K RPM in the yard, and the engine suddenly tried running away with its self ( 4.5K RPM ) and climbing, switched it off quick and it petered out after a few seconds,

recently my 407 1.6hdi has lost boost , i think it could be because i fiddled with the pipes on the solenoid valve ,
i saw a loose pipe near it so i reconnected it but im unsure if its even for the solenoid ,as it boosted fine before i connected it ,

im looking for a diagram or a photo of a turbo solenoid valve so i can see what ive done wrong...

Hello All,

I now have an 406 1.9 Exectutive 98 X reg. The ignition key is stuck in the lock barrel with the ignition switched on (battery now disconnected) I had to stall car to stop engine. The key will not twist and release from the lock. What options/methods do I have to get the key out. Can I release the key without having to get a new lock?...

I would urge you to take it to a GOOD locksmith or find one on the internet whose specialism is Automotive locks..most larger cities have one or two very good ones.
The parts alone could cost you more than their charge....ask at a expensive 2nd hand quality car dealer who they would use.

Thanks guys. We have decided to keep the car stock so going for the 1.6. Yes its more money, but with a recent clutch and box it should be worth it. That will leave us a spare gearbox which could be kept for spare or sold on. I would expect to change the cambelt and associated bits and it will be an easier straight out and in job, a day to get it...

I was having the anti role bar bushes changed. But while at the garage they checked why the EML engine management light was on and had the car connected up for free to find out what it was. The fault was the throttle position sensor you could hear the spring inside if you knock it. Also slight rough idle sometimes as well.

Diagnostics 101, always clear down faults after reading/noting them. Did the garage do this?

You might want to just ignore it for a week or so and see if the EML goes off eventually. This can happen automatically when such faults are cured. Otherwise, it's back to the diagnostics.

I am hoping some one can help me I have a peugeot 307sw 1.6hdi 2004 we have just done a head gasket on but now will not start.
Before doing the head gasket could not get any communication with the car using three different diagnostic machines now
it won't start it says economy mode active on dash
heater controls windows and radio do not work...

Hi,

I need to replace a pin in one of the BSI connectors on my 206. The connectors are your standard multipin grey/black/green socket connector with a red sliding locking tab.

I sent an hour trying to crack one open without breaking it and I was unable.

Nothing has moved much in the 40 or so years I have used it, if its going to collapse I think it would do it when I drive on, the oil drums are remarkably strong, I have only replace them once since its been there, the others did start rusting out so I have put some oil inside these which has kept them fairly rust free...
