Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Anyone got any advice how to either:-
....get the wiring to feed down the side of a replacement tailgate for wiper motor, rear lights, etc (it enters at the top)

....or get the glass out of a secondhand tailgate without breaking it

We are supposed to be going to Scotland on Sunday, due to a steering rack problem on the 406 we were going in the C5. We did a trip to Telford and back on Monday and it was fine, Wednesday it started chucking out clouds of what I though was smoke, it was actually steam, either the head gasket has gone or the head has cracked, so that's the end of...

Can anyone recommend an Injector Removal socket that's thin enough to go around No.4 Injector?

I'm a bit put out having just bought a Sealey thin wall Injector socket, which isn't thin enough to go around No.4 Injector (there's a raised bit on the cylinder head which means there's less clearance on No.4 than there is No.s 1,2 & 3.

This is a HDi unit not the DW8 yes ? I think it will be a HDi (either 2.0 or 1.4 possibly) as I think they might of stopped using the DW8 in these about 2007. Could be wrong...

IIRC 1.6 hdi is the only diesel engine choice 75 or 90 bhp (in the van)

Anyway after work I had quick look under the bonnet,

Working on a newly acquired 206SW 1.6Hdi and decided to change the cam belt as a precaution. On reassembly I have now lost the crank sensor signal, or it's defective. I have a horrible feeling I may have touched or knocked the magnetic bit of the sprocket with a spanner and wonder if this is the issue.

Anyone know of any means to test it...

Many thanks for the information. Spot on ---- I had used the flywheel pin as the timing reference rather than the location on the belt sprocket. It had fitted for the simple reason I cut the old belt to remove it and naturally assumed it was the big pin for the flywheel that was the one to go for and set the sprockets accordingly when I came to...

It appears to be the same for all engines - it's part of the tank on earlier cars with the solid tanks; on later cars with the flexible pouch, it's next to the pouch. Both are situated under the floor just in front of the NS rear wheel.

205D / DT = all 205's with / without turbo are 1.8.

Later models (post 93 approx)

N/A units without PAS have a cam driven vacuum pump.
N/A units with PAS have a belt drive vacuum pump and a belt drive PAS pump, both from the far end of the cam.

firstly i have just changed the thermostat on my 407 2.0 hdi 136, blimey what a job i have never seen a thermostat housing so big anyway now the temp does not sit steady .it will get up to about 80 maybe a tad more sit there for a mile or so then creep up to 85/87 ish before going back down to 80 ish.it will do this for the duration of the...

I wouldn't think that amount of variation is anything to worry about unless it goes well outside that range, it could be due to a faulty temperature sensor or maybe that the thermostat is a bit sticky.

The oil temperature always will rise more slowly that the coolant unless you are thrashing it, with gentle driving which is my norm the oil...

Hi
My 307cc 2.0 petrol has a juddering when setting off from standstill, especially in reverse ?
I have changed the clutch (lower biting point now) but it still judders, strangely it's worse in reverse which makes me think it's not the clutch ?
What else could cause this ?

Hi the lower rear mount was very soft, I have just replaced it and the engine is now pretty much solid. I haven't tried the car yet but it's got to be much better.

Hi all. I have a fiat scudo 2.0 hdi. Psa engine as you may know. I'm having issues with it cutting out approaching junctions and such. It also does it whilst idling. I have a code which is p0230. Another fault is it continues running for a few seconds once I've switched the ignition off? The only part I've changed so far is the fuel pressure...

The 107 seems to have developed a problem. The cooling fan is cutting on and off, only staying on for about 3 seconds, then off for about 10 seconds. This happens when the car is cold, started it today, drove out of the drive, stopped to chat to my neighbor and it's cutting on and off like mad. My neighbour suggests the thermostat, but heater...

Perfectly normal for the AC Davie - on earlier cars they used to run the fan all the time, but now the ECU cycles it on and off depending on the AC pressure - saves a little bit of energy!!it.
Anything to get those fuel consumption figures shaved!

Hi all

I've got a 1992 205 GRDT. The car has run really well but it wouldn't start this morning. Traced the problem to a fuel leak from the fuel filter housing, which seems to have previously been bodged with some silicone around the base.

Does anyone know the best place to source one of these? I've tried eBay and the usual classic Peugeot...

For what is worth, the reason there's no 'top hat' filter on the TD 205's is the cooler hoses mainly. The N/A 205 D does not have an oil cooler which is why that housing will fit.

This is what I put on mine, simple as easy spin on filters. Be aware you'd need to obtain some banjo bolts/washers etc as well. Mine had a primer button in the 'head'...

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

My 205 drives well but can suffer from a strange idle most of the time. If left say idling it will go in a cycle of stuttering and then building up to a heavy rev which then calms down. I think this video shows it well

What would you suggest is the cause?

Another possibility is oil sitting in the cambox and tricking down the valve stems. This may indicate worn valve stem seals.

The cambox holds quite a puddle of oil and the position of it will change depending on how the car is parked...

So my 206 needs new trailing arm bearings,
Passenger side has a lean on the wheel at top and is wearing the inside edge of the tyre although I can't find any play?

I rang a few garages local to me to get a price but none of them will change them only change complete axle

Why is this?

Thanks all for the reply, is it normal to have no play at all? I wiggle the wheel with the rear lifted and can't find any play. But there's a slight lean to the wheel causing tyre to wear uneven on inside edge

Hi all,

Owner of a Peugeot 206, 52 plate.
My car has a misfire and is using a large amount of coolant.
I took it to Formula One Autocentre. They identified it as a misfire (needing new coil pack and spark plugs) and charged me £160 for the pleasure.

Have you checked the fluid levels/belt tension ?

Are you running the engine or taking the head off ? :) ....are you still driving it ? how do you know it is off ?

Hey guys, I have a 2007 Peugeot 307 Sport. It has all the extras except bluetooth, so I'm wondering if I get a genuine bluetooth radio out of a 307 that has bluetooth and turn it on with Diagbox will it work or do I need more? Cheers in advance

I brought a new speedo as my old broke.
Its plugged it lights come on but its not working. This is a video of what it does.

What was the original panel doing - the same or different? If you re-fit the panel what does it do? I suspect this is either a BSI, COM or wiring fault - are you having any funnies with the lights as well?

You may well need to get it on Diagbox to see where the signals are going astray.

Hi everyone ,

I have A problem with my 206 2.0hdi at the moment, the high pressure fuel pump is very noisy and needs changing I have bought a second hand one off eBay with warranty.
Just need some advice on how to change it, can it be done with pout removing cam belt this was only changed 2,000 miles ago

Hi, need to diagnose friends emissions failure. It appears to have a throttle body/carb rather than injectors. Got a lamda sensor too but other than that we're working blind so open to hints and suggestions. CO2 high on idle and 2nd fast idle tests.

The exhaust (incl Cat) was new about 18months ago but if it's an overfuelling problem, that will...

Yeah, first job was clean the breathers, they were seriously clogged and oozing lumps of emulsion into the throttle body. Noticeable difference after.
Also whipped out the plugs to read - two were whiter than makkes me feel comfortable and one was slightly wet around the threads.

I'll advise Ian (the owner) to get a decent fuel injector cleaner...

It had a new cam belt before I bought it and I was hoping that an error had been made but according to the readout apparently not.

I will check that injector again although it runs sweet as a nut and ticks over smoothly, if fact its been very well looked after, the exhaust doesn't...

I have attempted to change the cam belt on my 2005(55 reg) 307cc 2.0 petrol (having successfully changed several belts on other cars before). However now the car turns over but won't start (no nasty noises) P. planet says p0341 which is camshaft sensor making me think the timing is out so i have stripped it back down to re check.

Hi

I have an 2005 1.4HDI Peugeot 206. My big problem is lack of power ! Very slow 0-60mph (around 45 sec)! Difficult then to get past 60mph, even on slight hills at 50 in 4th at more than 3000rpm it looses speed... This is my 2nd 1.4HDI and the difference between the two is incredible ! Also normally I would get around 60mpg from normal driving....

Since we've had everything sorted we've had no problems with it.

The turbo on ours was getting very hot before the timing chain issue was sorted and the decoking was carried out. After that it's been fantastic and pulls like a train in all gears. :)

Just took the back axle off a gti and have noticed while brushing it down that the end plate moves around when I'm brushing it. The plate at the other side of the arb does not move at all. Should one side have some play when off the car? It doesn't look right :S

Usually its the bolt that holds the end of the plate to the arm that comes loose, but this looks like it isn't sat on the rollbar at all! If you take off the smaller bolt and see if the end plate comes off.

I have just looked on my 306 hdi which is having electrical problems with the fans, temp reading and fuel pump.

The Gearbox earth connection part of the wire say half copper part frayed away so could this be causing the problem?

Quite possibly. Its always worth checking the heavy leads at all their ends.

I don't know how practical is it (and this does not always work) but if you get a jump lead from the battery earth to the gearbox (so in effect you're supplementing the existing wire) if there is *any* sign of improvement then its also a sign.

Expert van shares radios (at least the early van did) with the 306 range.

Any 306 radio should fit and it will have the appropriate plug there. Typically there's the power plug, the speaker plug and the 'remote control' plug.

Hello the stop light started flashing on and off.

When I stopped the car I could hear some kind of motor running with the engine running. I switched the engine off and the motor noise carry on going. I took the battery lead of and the noise then stopped.

But soon as you start the car the motor noise starts again.

All done and dusted. I removed screws holding the actual lock in place and let it hang a bit. Fitted outside handle and it just seemed to slot straight into place. Refitted lock quick, before it changed it's mind. Two rivets and a good bath of motorcycle chain grease later, job done.

My recently purchased 407 Coupe has only 3 TPMS valves with one normal valve on its wheels. The three TPMS are also badly corroded, one on NS Front is broken so cannot inflate the tyre.

I have been contemplating whether to buy 4 new TPMS vales and install (the JLR ones same as used on Peugeot are cheap at 4 for £50). However putting new ones...
