307 1.6l 2004

Post by mki »

Got a 307 2004 with 1.6l petrol engine. It had sat for a while after failing MOT, and I've tried to get it started again with a new battery, but it goes "crazy", with wipers going off on their own, tons of lights blinking on the dash etc. It would crank fine but not start. Nearly nothing electrical would work right. Rear wiper randomly turns on, fuel, RPM, temp, blower motor etc not working.

After towing it, it did start, and a few times randomly after that. I know it will start if it does the door ding sound, and the dash is alive. The dash etc will randomly die and come back while it's running though. Runs and drives fine even if the dash etc is dead.

I've tried: new battery, BMI reset tons of times, checked all fuses, cleaned battery to gearbox and chassis contacts, and all ECU, BSM and BMI connectors. BMI had a bit of corrosion on the fuse #5 "Left brake light including trailer.", cleaned it off and BMI otherwise seemed clean. Tried wiggling all the BMI, BSM and ECU wires, which didn't do anything, but noticed bite marks on a red & green wire going into the BSM. Seems like just damage to the insulation on it. Not sure where it leads to, so haven't tested the resistance of it. BSM couldn't take apart as it's full of silicone.

Here's a video of it idling:

Codes it's got: P0501 U1118 P1327 U1003 P0336 P1518

Any ideas? :D

If you have bite marks on one wire you probably have other wires that have been bitten. Because rodents have teeth that are always growing they have to gnaw on things to keep the teeth to a manageable length. I would try and get a wiring diagram, and then go through the car with a multi-meter.

Any ideas where I could get the wiring diagram from? Only found some sketchy sites.
