205 II diesel spares supply chain

Unread post by makemine205 »

Has anyone noticed difficulty in obtaining parts for the good old 205. Reason, i needed a lower diesel engine block coolant to heater core hose, the fella in the store checked the system and said it is UN-available now.

Try MisterAuto.es.
Enter exact model, year, etc.
If you have the original part number, you can enter that too, to find aftermarket alternatives.

That's life I'm afraid - this is a really old car and manufacturers can't keep making parts indefinitely. I think they are only obligated to provide spares for about 5 years after end of production or something like that.

So your best bet is to try and source one from an aftermarket supplier, a scrapper or try and modify a similar hose.

Yes, parts for old Peugeot’s are becoming difficult to find, but not impossible.
With something like a heater hose you could make something up? With other parts try the various classic Peugeot parts specialists like, www.peugeotparts.co.uk. or www.serie04.com.

That screenshot is from PSA's Pieces de Rechange website.
Many original parts there, but do try Mister Auto first. For BX (another very old car) they have a surprising number of service parts available.
A useful 'hose' catalogue is from the company Metalcaucho ('MC' brand). They have both original hose shapes, as well as general-purpose straights and bends, in a large range of diameters. 90 degree bends can be opened up to provide 45/135 degree, if needed. Their catalogue is online, and most good motor factors will have it.

Never mind old models, some of the power steering pipes for my 2010 X7 were no longer available before it was even 10 years old.

Thanks for the suggestions . Sourced some different hose and some diameter adaptors, looks like its going to be a Cuban job !.
Sounds like built in redundancy and they dont like people fixing their own cars.

There has to be some limits though - we will all have this issue when we are forced to go electric - and that will be the beginning of the end for general vehicle mechanics I suspect.

It will all be about swapping out a new module or a battery and that's it.

Or hydrogen , JCB have a working line up, interesting times ahead, cant see batteries in trucks or excavators .
Maybe a hydrogen engine swap kit for classics , if the technology can be made to fit, why throw away a good body when a power transplant is all that's required.
